‘irrespective of the reviews’- that’s not the approach i’d take. reviews exist for a reason, i want to buy trent valley as well but i'm mindful of what potential issues could occur so i’m waiting to see what others find before spending £33. i’d much prefer to do that than go in blindly and not be able to get a refund if it is broken

 

DTG will fix any issues you have. Excellent long route with places to route hop too.

Ive bought routes from release and there have been nothing but issues so im being mindful £33 is alot to pay if the route isnt working properly so i will just hold off and see how it runs on console first

 

l agree there are issues with every release, always have been, nothing is perfect with DTG. Any issues l have had l report to support and it’s been quickly resolved. This route opens up so many possibilities that l am sure will be worth it. I bought this morning and am pleased l did so.

 

I was at the purchase option on the PSN app, but changed my mind. I’m worried this route is going to be a bland ECML style route with little traffic. I’ll remain optimistic though and wait for people’s feedback.

 

yeah I get where you're coming from but I think it seems a lot better and more engaging than ECML. more layers, stations and services, more variety in rolling stock and services as well as 4-tracks all the way. As well as the clever route hopping with WCMLS. With that said I am holding off on it until I can fit it in my budget.

 

So who makes the feedback if everybody is waiting for peoples feedback?

Im not falling for hypes anymore, ill skip the feedback right away until the dlc is 80% off. Have to get my money back for all the frustration, annoyance over the years because the unquestionable lack of quality control on the side of dtg.

Despite that, i hope the route lives up to its promises and potential. If AAS went the extra mile and the dlc delivers 120%, i might reconsider.

Exactly this. £33 is not cheap, a big chunk of what’s in my Steam Wallet so I will wait and see what’s said, particularly when the Steam version unlocks later. Yes I know you can get a refund (!) but that’s not without consequences either if you do it too often.

 

No Mastery for this route, or has it just not gone live yet?

 

I have hardly played ECML but this does look like it will be more immersive with more variety. Plus Crewe is a better end point than Doncaster. I will get it going on the couple of streams I've watched. I've hardly bought anything lately.

However with the JT route seemingly also imminent I'll likely get that first as I don't fancy spending over £60 in the same month.

 

In terms of scenery foliage OHLE and track design I’ll say this, Trent valley looks really really good

 

But there seem to be a lot of blurry, too. Considering the few posts in the feedback thread all talk about that. ;-)

 

Good question, one I've asked myself, and I'll have the answer tonight on PC (or one of these days if I have enough time).
I'll be sure to let you know unless someone else does it first.
This is an important (even crucial) point regarding this route.

 

At this point as a console user, I can only laugh when a route released less than 24 hours after this statement, in relation to blurry textures: “we're happy to have made progress, and many of our recent releases have proven that we can work to mitigate this issue” - is subject to that very issue.

Of course though you can’t really blame DTG or the third parties anymore, people are still happy to buy it the minute it drops.

 

Not seeing a huge amount of feedback so far. Hopefully that means that the release hasn't been a total disaster and not that everyone is just holding off waiting for reviews!

If there is to be a Shrewsbury route, I'd love it to have a class 175 as they are one of my favourite DMUs!

Though if they are to make a route in that area I would have preferred it if they made the North Wales Coast, since it'd be a good opportunity to get the Avanti Super-Voyager in.

Just feels like another ecml route a to b with a few stops in between. Trains are dead quite 807. 350 is ok tho.

 

That's my fear. What with a modded timetable coming out yesterday for ECML that makes it really busy with lots of static stock, I'm struggling to justify buying this for now.

 

Quality over quantity would do for a start. What use is 108 miles if half of them are spent looking through a lens that's been smeared with vaseline or, as some others have already reported, one that crashes less than half way through.

Winding the clock back a few years but imagine how many people would have bought Superman 64 because they wanted it, and didn't read reviews first!

Same here. If I’m unsure about a certain route I usually wait until it’s released and see what it’s really like when other people play the route for a while first.

 

they did indicate that series S would struggle on the full timetable and to recommend using the reduced (not sure whether your friend was running on the full or reduced)

 

I was actually looking forward to this route releasing as DTG's decision to do a run on Xbox on the preview stream had me optimistic. Now having seen some of the screenshots on the feedback thread it's become clear that AABS are incapable of making a route that can run on console. It seems like every single one of their releases is unplayable on console without disabling large amounts of layers. I'm glad I haven't decided to buy any of their products and probably never will unless they get their act together.

 

Did a northbound 390 service on Xbox Series X during my lunch break (not full run as didn’t have time, but got as far as Lichfield).

Minor blurry textures appeared at Nuneaton which seemed to be just on the exterior of the train - interior of the cab not affected and landscape textures seemed fine. Possibly triggered by me entering Photo Mode at
Nuneaton as this is when it started, but can’t confirm at this point.

This aside though, what a BRILLIANT run for the Pendolino. Really stretches its legs and felt exhilarating to hurtle along at a consistent 125mph. A particular highlight was the run into Rugby, looked and felt amazing. Really looking forward to continuing my run later this evening.

Obviously barely scratched the surface yet, but very positive so far. Will caveat this by saying not tried the 350 yet which has historically suffered MUCH more with blurries than the Pendo, but so far so good.

 

Reposting this from the feedback thread, with a few questions for those that watched the preview stream:
It was streamed on Series X, right?
Was it full or reduced timetable?
Were all layers active?
Were these settings (whatever they were) disclosed by the hosts?

Because all i saw were postive comments and the release day feedback seems quite different.

 

What have they made? I might have missed it. I’m not aware of anything from them other than the Class 70 which hasn’t come out yet. But that’s still very different to a Class 67.

 

In the meantime, I'm still waiting for DTG to send out a patch that means I can at least play on TSW and purchase the route.

 

I’d really like a 67 set, but unless it comes as a more expansive pack focused solely around it, it’ll have even less gameplay than the class 90 pack.

I think it’s pretty likely we’ll see a 196/7 oriented route soon though, they’ll want to do with those what they’ve been doing with the AT300 & 350’s for the past year.

 

How is it running on series x

This is on the Series S, and due to the length and size of Trent Valley, it wasn’t really a shock that blurry textures would appear again.


I’ve heard that there are little to no blurry textures on PS5 and Xbox Series X…so it’s not catastrophic like B2C

seems to be affecting systems with less RAM, like the series s

 

Saw a reasonable amount. It’s not as busy as WCMLS but presume the traffic is reflective of real life.

 

Could anyone tell someone a bit dim how to use the speed set on the 807?

 

i've posted on the feedback thread that i don't think it's working on the series x but someone else seems to be able to use it

edit: spoken to them on DM and they can use it but only because they use a keyboard as there's no xbox controller shortcut that sets the speed

 

This must be the base PS5 that’s suffering from the technical mishaps.
On the pro I’ve experienced no crashes whatsoever. I’ve done multiple runs on B2C, WCMLS, MVL and GWR (all I’m playing at the moment).
That extra bit of memory in the pro really does wonders.

 

speak for yourself. AABS products work fine on my console. No need to slate them when it actually be a personal issue. I do understand the frustration of the people who do suffer with it though.

 

Someone just posted an image in the feedback thread of people spawning on the track near Stafford. Come on AABS/DTG, simply not good enough.

 

Issues like this I put them down to a core problem with the game code. I think it’s unfair to blame the 3PD’s.

 

Base ps5 doing great for me. No blurry textures on the route. I did experience some blurring while doing the run from London to Crewe but all that was in the wcmls part of the trip.
