The list above came from the XBOX deals and discussion forum on cheapassgamer.com. The advance list wasn’t comprehensive, though - as you say there’s additional DLC in the sale over and above what was posted.

Does Tees Valley Line provide layering for any other UK routes? If not, i’m going to get the suffragette line as i already own all U.S content.

I think it provides layers for a few routes, Blackpool Branches and Preston to Carlisle also a rail tour on East Coastway, off the top of my head!

Are you looking at TSW6 sales, or perhaps an older version of the game? Deals are only for TSW6.

I'm not sure how to link to the specific forum post; it's on page 1832 of the 'XBOX DEALS AND DISCUSSION' forum thread on CAG, if that's any help!

It's still a favourite of mine TVL!
And the stock layer into the JT routes. I believe the 37 is on Preston-Crewe also.

Plus you can get the 20 and the 31 as desperate DLC to add more to the route. Love the 31, it's brakes are challenging but it's a great little Loco!

So i picked up the Suffragette Line and the Mildmay Line. I’m honestly having a blast on the Mildmay line and the 710 is a great layer for the route! I took the risk of blurry textures but honestly i don’t even really mind them. Can’t wait for the Richmond extension!

Unfortunately not. it’s been on my radar lately so i went ahead and picked it up ahead of the extension. Would 100% recommend but if you don’t like blurry textures i would strongly avoid it until it’s fixed.

On my Series X i’d say it runs pretty good. When at Stratford the FPS dips due to the amount of trains present. (granted you have the 710 to fill out those layers) On all my runs so far blurry textures usually start in the middle of the route and don’t go away. I’ve done a couple night runs and the textures usually won’t get blurry. I can’t speak if the Class 700 and HST from Midland Mainline contribute since i don’t have those DLC’s.

I've just completed all of the achievements in the free starter pack for TSW5, and I've purchased the TSW6 Deluxe Edition. (Love that these games are play anywhere by the way - would be great if they could bring that to older versions earlier than TSW5 at same point)

Now, I wouldn't mind purchasing the DLCs for TSW5 and getting some more of the achievements. Have noticed some of the older DLCs are on sale on Xbox for TSW6. From what I can gather, purchasing the TSW6 version, I wouldn't be able to use it in TSW5 also.

There's a huge price difference in the older and newer version of the same DLC. Why wouldn't they both go on sale for the same price? If I want to complete TSW5, it's going to cost me probably double what it'd cost me to buy the TSW6 versions, which with them not being backwards compatible, have no achievements tied to them at all.

If it was the same price, players would still be able to play the TSW5 version on TSW6, so surely it's no loss to Dovetail to put the older versions of the DLC on sale at the same price at the same time?

This is on of the greatest deal-breakers for me. If I don't get the content in previous versions of the game any longer I need all the version discounted. This is such a disappointment that DTG is delivering this on every platform except Xbox. Yet another shortest straw for the fans on the platform. Huge disappointment.

At least it’s not just me that feels this way. I’d seen people question why people would want to play the old games when the newer ones come out, but as somebody who likes to get all of the achievements, I’d like to ultimately go back and play each of the older games and get those achievements. Currently seems unlikely they’ll even discount the older version of the DLC.

Yes, this is hugely frustrating for those of us for whom chasing the TSW achievements is a big part of the fun. I did message support to ask if they’d be willing to give me access to the older versions when I purchased TSW6 DLC but they predictably weren’t having it. I also suggested a sale of pre-TSW5 and older DLC but since then all the DLC sales have been TSW6 branded and not BC so no luck.

Removing backwards compatibility has lost DTG a number of DLC sales from me already, and presumably others like me, but that’s their choice and other than message support with suggestions the only thing I can do is vote with my wallet.

Pretty much the same for me. I'm not going to part ways with £30+ for 8-10 hours of play time. Once I've got the achievements, I'm not likely to play the DLC much, unless I can get use of it working towards another achievement.

I'm guessing TW5 DLCs are not on sale because they want to boost the number of TSW6 sales, even if it is for an older TSW6 compatible DLC. I've just bought TSW2020 on Steam and there's plenty of achievements there, so I'll be sticking with that until the older DLCs are on sale. If that never happens, then I guess I'll never get the rest of the achievements for TSW5 lol.

I don't think they can boost sales of anything this way. It makes zero sense, the way they approach Xbox sales. TSW5 is in Game Pass, they could easily push more content to people who play the game and would like to grab TSW5 versions of older content. They just showed these people a middle finger for some reason, no one playing through game pass will be picking up anything.

A part of me wants to think that it's a deliberate business decision due to contractual obligations or maybe some bad actor is just trying really hard to make Xbox platform performance look abysmal to prove some internal point or whatever, but after looking at Dovetail for a few years now I am more inclined to think they don't really don't care/they are just that incompetent. This issue was brought up by me in every sale since they pulled the "FU dear players" on backwards compatible content, because one could say that it wasn't really an issue until they stopped giving previous editions of products. We know that these were promised to be taken up the chain by the community managers (candacedtg ). Of course, nothing ever came of it. Probably nothing ever will. And then DTG Harry will come by and say that they are not at liberty to discuss these things.

Been there. Done that. Oh well, you are being told you are a valued customer on Xbox, yet it is really hard to believe this cr*p when you look at situations like these. But what are you going to do, huh? They are in a position of power, so they stick it to ya however they want.

I suspect that DTG just don't 'get' XBOX Achievements (nor presumably PS Trophies). This might explain some of the decisions regarding the lack of backwards compatibility and the refusal to discount anything but TSW6-branded DLC - maybe DTG just don't understand why console users would want anything else. As a result we've ended up with the current lose-lose situation where DTG are turning down easy revenue on old product, and some console customers are unhappy.

*EDIT* I forgot to agree with you regarding the related issue of DTG not ever discounting TSW5 DLC even though TSW5 is on Game Pass. On the surface this seems like a whole new level of bizarre.

On other platforms there are sales for older versions of DLC, so I think Microsoft has to something with this. The main issue here, is the fact the older DLC are not backwards compatible anymore since TSW6. DTG stated, this has been done for the platform holders, but it's a big let down. People playing on older versions of the game, don't have sales anymore (including GP players) and the starter pack was only shortly available for free.

Together with the bad sales on Xbox, it's a far from ideal situation.

Yeah, thanks for that, DTG Harry . I don't think there's I'll will on the community managers' part in not getting this info to us. I don't believe it will ever come though or anything will be fixed with how sales are being handled on Xbox, because there were so many opportunities, that I think if there was will/care within DTG to fix this it would already be fixed. Thank you again for noticing this thread, but as I said - been there, seen this, had hopes, and nothing ever changed, so excuse my frustration and lack of enthusiasm.

Oh they absolutely don't get them. They had a grindfest in TSW1. They copy-pasted all that grindfest and continued with more for half of TSW2 era at which point they eased back tenfold. They moved to a lightweight approach with TSW3, but again copied everything to TSW4. On 5, they made 1 reasonable decision - the cut out old stuff and just added the new, but at that point they were all over the place - Locos didn't get achievements but routes did. Unless they didn't, such as Frankfurt or Manchester. It took them one series entry to backtrack on that decision and make it the worst one for both players and themselves - remove DLC achievements entirely. I wonder how that goes, as I have absolutely no incentive to buy any DLC as there is nothing for show that I completed it, and the incentive is real - I have all content with achievements and very little content that doesn't support them. Because you know - some players actually care about a feature that the devs obviously don't get. Voluntarily removing a platform feature for ease of dev time at the cost of sales - amazing approach to making games, really.

In January, there was Preston to Carlisle for TSW5 during a TSW6 sale, which I promptly picked up. Interestingly, that bit of content was not on sale for TSW6, only on TSW5, and wasn't even mentioned in the sale article. This shows that there is no technical limitation to do that, there's just no will to do so.

I'm so fed up with the argument that Microsoft has something to do with this. Every other platform holder allows this but Microsoft hate Dovetail, so they exclusively don't. Every other platform holder allows for more content or more frequent sales, except Microsoft, as they hate Dovetail. Every other developer gets invited by Microsoft to participate in sales regardless of them being Ubisoft or the smallest indie team, with multiple self-published super-indie titles frequently showing up on sales, expect Dovetail, because Microsoft hates them in particular. And so on, and so on. I'm sorry, if there are two explanations, with one being a multi billion-dollar company hating a game developer for no reason and the other being said developer, known for questionable decisions and lighthearted approach to quality and customer care, being out of touch with their customer base, Ockham's razor says that the latter is more probable. I'll stick with this explanation until proven otherwise.

As other platforns do have sale for the multiple versions of the game, it's not likely DTG is holding back on this. Stating Microsoft is hating DTG is also nonsense, we don't know the reasons behind this, but I'm pretty sure it's not hate.

As TSW5 is on GP, you actually would suspect sales for the TSW5 version too. After the release of TSW6 there was another sale with TSW5 DLC, I bought Frankfurt S-bahn back then.

No one said it's technical not possible, so or there is another reason for it, or there just isn't one and they just only put sales on the latest version of the game.

Glad to know that the older DLCs will go on sale from time to time. I've wishlisted them, so will be sure to grab some as soon as I see them come down in price. I'm pretty new to the series, so it's not something I'd have paid attention to until just now. I'm loving it though. Hope it won't be too long before I can get a few more DLCs and work my way through the achievements on TSW5.

Also hoping there'll be extra achievements for TSW6 some time soon!

As Harry said we sent the feedback up, and I did get busy and forgot to reply it was done, however, I'm just waiting on anything we can share and send to y'all. Unfortunately, we don't have anything.

Given the absence of XBOX achievement support I’m giving it a miss at this price. In a year or so when it drops to >50% off I’ll reconsider and probably grab it then, but by dropping achievement support DTG has killed the value of new DLC for me.

May I ask why you think achievements are so important. I mean you dont get anything from them just gamer points witch dont enhance the game in anyway. Im not being rude I just wanna know why people let something so minor make there decision has to weather to buy a game/dlc. Thanks

If NEC had supported achievements I would have picked it up now in the sale at 20% off. As it is, that’s £20 of my money that DTG won’t get. If at some point NEC is discounted by more than 50% I’ll consider picking it up then. Hopefully DTG understand that there are adverse financial consequences to not including achievements in new DLC.

you’ve said the same thing in two separate threads. achievements really aren’t the be all and end all of a route and they’ll cope just fine without your £20

Fair question. Collecting Achievements is part of the fun, for me and millions of other XBOX players. For instance they fuel competition between players who collect them, they act as a progress indicator of sorts and trigger the completionist in some players, fuelling a desire to get the most out of their games. Same goes for Trophies on PS, which obviously has an even bigger install base than XBOX. Microsoft insist that all full releases on XBOX must have Achievement support, and the majority of devs include Achievements in their DLC too, but TSW presumably decided that it was too much trouble.

The great irony is that DTG presumably understand this on one level as they go to great lengths to include and track the collection of collectables in the routes. And yet they don't make the effort to include Achievements & Trophies in DLC. Disappointing, to say the least.

And yet some people care for an objective fault with a route and will call it out, regardless if these are timetable issues, real-life inaccuracies or achievements. If you are having issues being in a *discussion* forum, where people express their views, just leave, instead of commenting who can say what..

I think the problem here is that achievements have to be the same across xbox one and xbox series, which obviously throws up issues of achievements becoming unobtainable on xbox one due to pretty much every tsw dlc not releasing on it

You have to see that this is a ridiculous argument, surely? Yes, DTG have lost £20 on NEC because I'm not buying it at 20% off and maybe at all, ever (I would definitely have picked it up at 20% off if it'd had Achievement support, and maybe even at full price if it's really good) and then you can keep adding on another £20 for every other new DLC that doesn't include Achievement support either. And then, when you've added together all those £20, you can multiply that total by all the other people, some of whom have posted on this thread, who will also not buy the DLC without Achievement support. You can then do the same for those Playstation Trophy hunters who are similarly unhappy and won't buy the DLC for the same reason. And thus you have a bigger, much more meaningful number.

    Now do you understand?

I'm sorry to be missing out on some of the newer routes, incidentally, but given that I have something like 100 items of DLC already I could play every day until I die and still not exhaust every route and loco I own, so I'll always have something to play regardless.

you’ve made it sound like i made a personal attack against someone which just didn’t happen. i’ve no issue at all with people expressing their views, so thanks for assuming that as well, but my argument is that it just seems a bit pointless to bump multiple threads by saying the same thing

I'm not sure that's the case. Also, the vast majority of Achievement-free DLC isn't Series X-only anyway.
