Hello, I recently purchased the Train Sim World 6: DB BR 182 DLC on PlayStation because I believed it would also be compatible with older Train Sim World versions, including Train Sim World 2020. Which I would translate roughly as: "TSW-compatible content that was released for a previous version of Train Sim World. The features may remain unchanged from the original version and may not use all newer core features." Based on this wording, I understood it as meaning that the DLC would also be compatible with older Train Sim World titles. However, after purchasing it, I cannot access or use the DLC in Train Sim World 2020. Did I misunderstand the description? Is the text actually meant to say that this is older content that remains compatible with Train Sim World 6, rather than being compatible with older Train Sim World games? To me, the wording is a bit confusing, so I wanted to ask whether anyone can clarify how the compatibility is supposed to work. At the moment, I basically have a DLC that I cannot use, since I only own Train Sim World 2020. If the DLC is indeed not compatible with TSW 2020, is there anything I can do in this situation? Has anyone experienced something similar, or is it worth contacting PlayStation Support for a refund due to the confusing wording? Thanks in advance for any clarification.
TSW compatible just refers to older DLCs that are from previous versions and the wording "TSW-compatible content that was released for a previous version of Train Sim World. The features may remain unchanged from the original version and may not use all newer core features" just means it is old and won't have new features such as updated lighting, train and platform announcements etc. Until TSW5, you could buy any of the older add-ons marked as TSW5 and they would cascade back to all the relevant versions if you owned them. TSW6 onwards, this was changed so the DLC only works with TSW6. If you only have TSW2020, you'd have to find the version for that iteration of TSW unfortunately.
Hello, first thank you both for the really quick reply. I finally figured out how the DLC compatibility works on PlayStation, but I honestly find it very confusing and misleading. From what I understand now (I tested it): If you buy a Train Sim World 2 or Train Sim World 3 DLC, you also receive the versions for Train Sim World 2020, 2, and 3. After that, you can manually claim the Train Sim World 4 version for free. Once you own the TSW4 version, you can claim the TSW5 version for free. Finally, the TSW6 version also becomes free. However, if you buy the Train Sim World 5 or Train Sim World 6 version directly, you only receive that version (and newer ones, if applicable). The older versions are not unlocked. Unfortunately, I did not know this before buying the Train Sim World 6: DB BR 182 DLC. I assumed it would also work with Train Sim World 2020 because of the PlayStation Store description. After realizing it did not, I bought the Train Sim World 3 version as well, which then unlocked the DLC for TSW2020, TSW2, and TSW3, and allowed me to claim TSW4, TSW5 for free (TSW6 would be free aswell but unfortunately I bought it first before buying the TSW3 version). So I basically ended up paying for the same DLC twice because the upgrade path is so confusing. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you think there is any chance I could get a refund for my original TSW6 DLC purchase since I had to buy the older version anyway to actually use it? Thanks for any advice
