On another note - I don't think I've ever seen this many votes in a poll before. Good going folks.

Dovetail would do well to listen.

I really find it surprising in these times people get offended by the term 'Fanboys' or a 'Troll', If you think they are wrong then say so. Obviously debating them. I think certain people forget what a forum is for, imo it is a place to report Bugs and errors so that the game maker can fix it or at least address the problems but DTG have always had their own take on that. Then it is a place where people can get advice from other players to help them in the game, you know in a section called 'General Discussion' it isn't usually a place of saying how wonderful the game is although I'm not against that either.

Thanks for setting up this poll. It's much easier to gain an understanding of sentiment here than on the main thread, but it matches expectations. As you say, I hope DTG listens.

I’ll do this again, because I must admit I did get it wrong and my politics knowledge is baffling, I think some of the elderly in here are more skilled on that basis compared to 19 year old me (no offence ;))

So far, as of 00:58 on Friday.

the ayes to the right; 11

the noes to the left; 210

so, the noes have it, the noes have it! unlock!

It is a way of stifling argument. Labelling people de-legitimises their point of view.

You can't debate with someone so narrow minded and with entrenched views like that. If they wanted to take your opinion into account they would not resort to childish and glib playground responses.

You know whats stiffling arguments, too? Removing a whole open discussion space entirely.

I agree and think it is a step too far, but maybe if some members tempered their behaviour we might not have come to this.

I think the far more sensible option would just be to restrict them.
Back in the day the moderation was much more thorough - I had received a number of temp. bans (I believe I'm fairly close to a permanent, unless it resets after a while) before getting my act together. I recall a few people being permanently banned, and Dovetail were right on top of any alt accounts, thread spam, necrobumping, etc.

Now it feels like the only things that Dovetail moderate are duplicate threads, and they turn a blind eye to anything else. It's a problem completely of their own making and we shouldn't pay the price.

They've put their time and attention into particularly Discord - which, while popular with younger players, a rule I am an exception to as discord is just not as good as a forum - Discord is far more messy than a forum. It's harder to find topics, and things get lost as the chat goes along. Discord's search function is useless.

Reddit is nowhere near big enough to replace the forums, Tiktok/Instagram/YT aren't appropriate to replace them, and I can't think of anything else.

Forums are far more efficient than the others for discussion, and that's why it makes zero sense for them to wipe out the GD forum.

If they had upheld their own rules on this forum, or if they decide to start now, maybe we'd still the forums.

I don't disagree although I think if some popular members were banned it would irk some people as censorship.

I do think DTG have always tolerated criticism, much more than some other companies would allow, maybe people "upstairs" have started noticing.

Hopefully they might reverse their decision and enforce some stricter rules, I suspect not though.

91% of votes stand at no (Keep the Forum)
    Only 5% have voted yes.

    Quite a statement.
