Hi all, Are there any UK routes on this platform which are non blurry, have JT routes which suffer WCMLS which suffer and a few more. Running with layers on all routes as I am loathe to remove any because this is what this game is advertised to do... run routes with layers enabled. Thank You Regards
Older routes or routes that a light on traffic. Medway Valley is a recent release that performs very well for example
Glossop line, SEHS, Medway valley, BCC without the BR170 add-on, Suffragate line and most likely more
From my experience on the Playstation 5 - Island Line 2022, Midland Main Line, East coastway, Tee's Valley, Northern Transpenine, Medway Valley, Glossop Line, Birmingham Cross city (without the 170 timetable) the rest will come and go (the blurries i mean) - i know you are after Xbox, but a lot of the older ones were also solid on my PS4 so should be prety good bets on an Xbox
I tested on PS5 Pro Preston - Carlisle this week, everything needed is installed, but I turned off the two static layers of the parked cars in Steamtown and Kingsmoor and turned off Substitutions, so only the original Class 87 and the original Mk3 and Mk2 cars ran, the Class86/2 package was empty in terms of functionality and it did well. The direction Preston - Carlisle without blurring and the opposite direction slight stripes at Mk3 in Oxeholme, that then immediately returned to normal and then in Preston slightly the whole locomotive and the stripes of the wagon, all just zooming into the model with the camera. But there may be situations with the busiest traffic and it may be otherwise, that cannot be contained relatively easily
Depends on who you ask. It's kind of like asking "what car can drive nice?" Well almost any car CAN drive nice in some situations.
Here’s my experience on Xbox over all the UK routes (with virtually all content installed): Not blurry: Birmingham Cross City Blackpool Branches Cardiff city network (default timetable) Cathcart Circle East Coastway ECML (reduced timetable) Edinburgh Glasgow (default timetable) Fife Circle Glossop Goblin line Isle of Wight Isle of Wight 2022 London Commuter Bakerloo Medway Valley Midland Mainline Northern trans pennine Peak Forest Spirit of Steam Tees valley WCML South (all timetables except 805) Preston - Carlisle West Cornwall local West Somerset railway Trent Valley (reduced timetable) Blurry: Cardiff city network (pacer timetable) Crewe - Preston ECML (full timetable) Edinburgh Glasgow (158 timetable) Fife Circle (158 timetable) Great Western Express Mildmay Line Manchester Airport Riviera (infrequent but happens for me in stormy conditions) SEHS (not tested since update - may be fine now) WCML South (805 timetable) WCML Birmingham-Crewe WCML Trent Valley (full timetable)
I did a service from Faversham last night on XSX using the full timetable and didn't have any blurry textures, before the update they'd seem to start going blurry by the time I'd get to Stratford. The addition of suspension update to SEHS makes it even better too!
So what’s the change that’s made SEHS go from being a blur fest to not so? Why are other routes not being fixed with said change & why are routes still coming out with blurring in effect? Be nice to have some real conversations about this problem outside of Matt brushing it off with “hurr hurr consoles” & devs being too scared to say if it’s on their routes or not.
When Firefly were doing Medway Valley DTG gave them access to SEHS to do some optimisation to see if it improved things. Whilst they were at it Firefly added suspension too which further improved it.
Amongst other improvements to the trains, it was the texture optimisation we did to the SEHS rolling stock as a proof of concept (which originated from our own rolling stock and asset production) that has improved the situation, genuinely saving a huge amount of memory. As Matt has said elsewhere, other first (and some third) party content is being worked on but it is by no means a small task to undertake, and this runs alongside other work that DTG are doing elsewhere
It may have changed since I last played it but Cathcart (380 Timetable) is awful for blurry textures if the Pendolino is enabled. A guaranteed blur-fest. You can tell, as well, because if it randomly starts mid-run you can see a 390 enter the map.
I’ve had occasional blurry textures around Ebbsfleet but that’s about it, it’s always run well for me. Had a go today and definitely not a blurry texture in sight and ran VERY smoothly too. Such a great route.
