I have the HST farewell pack and 377/3 and 171 i wanted to get. But i am sure how worth is it to get the cardiff route and the 170 route (rivet product sucks but they poke holes in timetable that people really wanted). if i were to get any of them i want to use them in mod timetables... but how many mods actaully uses these trains as basis or layering?
I'd suggest checking the layers on your preferred UK routes and see how many would be enhanced by those addons.
The Cardiff route is perfectly decent if you want to quick drive or out and back runs. Yes it could have been longer. I wouldn't pay full price for it. The 150 and 153 and well made in my opinion. The 170 is a very good pack and adds a very good timetable to Cross City.
any idea does the any of the 170 layer on to anywhere else? or know any mods that uses the 170 in a timetable mod? As far as i know the TfW 150 layers on to some routes only.
Oh I see- is that the only route that it’s layered on to? What about the TfW 150 or 153? Do they layer on to anywhere else?
If you like short passenger runs, and you like the Class 150 and 153 then the Cardiff City Network is good. You can also get the Class 142 Add On for the route that adds a Pacer timetable. The TfW 150 and 153 layer into a few other routes now as well which is decent. There's probably a bit less scope if you buy the Class 170 pack, BUT the forthcoming Class 70 MML timetable will make use of them.
Any idea where the 170s will run? or is it just a.i traffic at Derby and Nottingham?... the only reason why i wouldnt pick up the cardiff city network is because its small stations to small stations and i feel like aside from getting it just for cardiff central it isnt really worth my time... the 153 and 150 is tempting me but the most is not maybe for me. have been rewatching DC4260's review on the 170 and really i understand the value. The current CC its a bit empty, but just for buying the 170 just for that route (i dont have other WCML routes) and maybe the CC timetable mod and ECML timetable mod. thats really it.
The 170 will be usable on services throughout the line to my knowledge BUT remember they form part of the Class 70 DLC so you would need to buy that to get the new MML timetable.
Trouble with the XC 170 is there's only short sections in game that they run over IRL, those being Bromsgrove - Birmingham New and Derby - Nottingham.
