Anyone else like me? I love forward to seeing what the new routes will be, but at the same time annoyed it's another different version of the game instead of an update...

not really, I don't know why people get upset over a new game when the only "valid" point they have is download times.

That's why I said annoyed and not upset or angry. I'm not against them, although, the free starter pack should be free forever imo, DTG don't lose anything by having it be a glorified demo

Exactly! The free starter pack is the main reason I don't see an issue with the new title every year. It's purely for marketing purposes really which most likely helps bring in new customers which is good for existing customers. if it didn't help the game in the last 3 "yearly releases" they wouldn't continue to do it. Now I know TSW7 is not "announced" but I, and 99% of the TSW Community know it WILL come.

i second this. the main problem with a yearly release, especially tsw4, was that dlc such as blackpool was locked behind a paywall which the free starter pack eliminated. it’s a good move on dovetails part, one i’ll be very happy with this year as unless the three core routes blow me away then i’m not spending any money on the base game. i’ve got plenty to play with as it is

I agree. I hope they really do make some good core routes. But they are never going to satisfy everyone i suppose.

I've always thought the Free Starter Pack should be permanent.
Say you only saw TSW when Medway came out, or only got interested then, you have to pay £30 for route + £30 (I think) for the cheapest core bundle. Permanent free core substantially reduces the cost for new players, who might be put off buying a core bundle if they don't care for the core content...

I suppose DTG want you to spend as much as possible though

I hope that high-quality titles—including the core releases—are launched every year. While I understand that it is impossible to eliminate every single bug, it is disappointing when games are simply replaced by new versions without any fixes being made. If this aspect were improved, my expectations for the series would rise significantly.

Something Fishy is going on next week.
Notice how the next roadmap is on a WEDNESDAY, rather than a Tuesday?
what could be happening on Tuesday?
I think we all know the answer to that!
oh. and to add to my evidence.

    image0.png

The TSW6 reveal. WAS EXACTLY THE SAME TIME AS LAST YEAR!

which is on the EXACT SAME DATE as the roadmap THIS YEAR?

    Coincidence?

They would normally trail Dovetail Direct as Dovetail Direct though, they tend to make a big thing of it, not to sneak it out.

If anything, the longer we go without a Dovetail Direct makes the idea of a full new version less likely. But who knows.

I can't wait to know what's coming in the next version. The sooner, the better!

Nothing more than what you see now, with the addition of some nonsense.

Need to take you to task on this one a bit OldVern.

First up, I can categorically say it wasn't a beta tester, nobody has been let go from the beta team and everyone internal to the team was disgusted that it happened. I know what where the problem was, and things have changed, but it was NOT the beta team.

Second - poor vetting of testers by DTG and not having a sufficiently rigorous NDA - that's a daft thing to say, that's literally victim-blaming.

We have to rely on trust. An NDA is a backstop but it is the "threat" that is only any use *after* the horse has been let out of the stable.

I put a lot of time and effort into vetting the people I invite onto the beta team, reviewing their engagements, I look for people who challenge us but do so thoughtfully, but at the end of the day it's a relationship based 100% on trust. If that trust is violated, how do you come to the conclusion it's our fault?

I really would appreciate you stop this invalid line of assuming the beta team were at fault.

    Matt.

I'm more excited for the Three routes for the price of 1.3 routes really. Well maybe 2 routes cos the US stuff doesn't often interest me too much.

Leaks are always an unsolvable issue; ultimately, it's just a game. For players who dislike leaks, you can completely avoid discussions about leaks and patiently wait and see. I'm also glad to see some posts providing relevant resources.

Since we can all agree that DTG needs to communicate on the next roadmap if we will get a new game or not, i would prefer a potential direct stream to happen in late July or early August.
After all we already had multiple weeks/months of silence this year and the effect it has on the community was clearly visible, so another waiting game for 1.5 months and somewhat pointless speculation in the meantime cannot be good for whatever is planned.

I wonder how realistic it is to assume they will release TSW 7 early, given the absence of DTG made content and a large console player base waiting for November 19th not trying to pay over 200 bucks for videogames within 2 months.
