Here are 5 steam engines I think could make great use in TSW.

    1. Union Pacific 4014 (Big Boy)

    2. Union Pacific 3985 (Challenger)

    3. Norfolk & Western 611

    4. Santa Fe 3751
    [IMG]

    5. Southern Pacific 4449 (Whistle and Air Horn)

At the end of the day, it's a suggestion.

I would think it's better to include these all in 1 giant bundle, or they could just be seperately.

This isn't a bad suggestion by any means, since DTG quietly abandoning steam development was a very bold (not in a good way) move. We need more people suggesting steam locos and routes so they can maybe, somehow, get the message that we'd like more steam era stuff in the game, *continues to praise TSG*

Though if these 5 locos were all included in the same pack, I dread to think of the price, if DTG get their act together and sort out their steam development situation, the this could happen in a 2 or 3 parter. Or, we could get a new American 3rd party that isn't high iron simulations since they apparently don't have the best reputation, evident by their, um, interesting Santa Fe on Cajon Pass pack

This is a good suggestion though

Ooooh! SP Cab Forwards (especially #4294) are a must-have! Also, PRR K4s #1361, NKP #765, PM #1225, ATSF #2926, SP&S #700, Frisco #1630, and other excursion steam locos. Hopefully in the future, we could get PRR T1 Duplex #5550 when she is completed (sometime in 2030-ish). As for other steam locos and routes, SP, B&O, ATSF, UP, PRR, NP, WP, GN, etc.

These are massive steam engines. I'd also like the smaller US steam engines. I quite liked TSC's Clear Creek DLC.

I've also thought of the LNER A4, and I'm suprised that dovetail hasn't added that one - they always post UK dlc

It's because DTG pulled off the very bold (not in a good way) move of quietly abandoning steam development themselves just after the West Somerset Railway remaster and have only made TTTE characters for steam locos since. We now have to rely on third parties for steam locos *still praising TSG*

I don't believe that DTG or third parties ever create a US steam loco. You need to recreate the whole loco in the game and that is not worth the time. It will not paid back via the actual online selling prices. You lose money or you have to raise the price to a non reasonable price. Besides that US content for TSW is very difficult to sell in general.

From what I've seen in TSC, the US steam locos are far more complex than the relatively simple UK machines, which DTG couldn't pull off properly. Even with simplified controls active and the various assists, the Smokebox Big Boy is beautiful, but a real handful to drive. There's hope that TSG's work might refine the steam implementation but for all we know that could still be two years away, as there's not been much in the way of progress reports or any proof of concept video of the BR52 in action. Then it still needs an interested party to do the development of the loco, which would mean someone like Smokebox getting interested in doing TSW content.
