Hello folks, This is the official discussion thread for the Cargo Line Volume 6: Gas Gameplay Pack, developed by Skyhook Games, releasing on July 14th 2026. Feel free to discuss this Add-On here, but be aware that user-created discussion threads on this topic might already exist. To help keep discussions streamlined, we ask that you keep discussions on topic and feedback in the relevant threads, where applicable. Cargo Line V7 and V8 have been announced today. Wonder what it could be... Another thing i pointed out, i may be overthinking, why is there no 6 in the TSW logo anymore? I think we are beginning to phase out of 6, and into the 7th iteration of the game
Please move this if there is somewhere more relevant, but I feel this new method of article discussion isn’t great. Firstly the article gets posted in ‘Live Article Discussion’ but you can’t actually discuss it there, then you as the mod team have to create a whole separate thread for the discussion, so already 2 threads are being created for the sake of 1 topic & finally you still have to go back to the article post to see a breakdown & the whole detail of it. I don’t think it’s a very efficient process for you guys at DTG & it’s just abit convoluted for us in the user base. As for the content itself, my interest in it is immediately quashed by “as with other CL packs it’s not limited to one locomotive” which is followed by ‘use it in free roam with other locos’. It’s not very clear if we can just sub out the 185 in the timetable? & if not then that’s quite disappointing considering the roster available for European freight locos.
I think leaving the discussion under the article was a little bit smoother and easier to find. Have to go through all of the sub forums feels a little clunky and unnatural to me at least
The article says it's releasing on the 14th of July so has the roadmap for this month been changed, as you would expect an announcement like this to be in the roadmap. Unless the only thing that's going to be in the roadmap is tsw7 or some other announcement.
I am wondering how deep the simulation goes. Not expecting TSG expert level features, of course, however, would at least expect brake mode selector working as irl, as well as cut off valves?!
Thanks antony.henley. Now back to the speculation, as each volume has been based off a type of freight transported by rail the next volume for the UK has to relate to some kind of industry found on one of its routes. That leaves Steel, Timber, Coal, Automotive, Waste, Scrap Metal, China Clay, Limestone and potentially international ferry. So far with the current route selection the first 4 I listed might be the theme. Steel would be for TVL and its industries, Timber for Riveria Line as they brought back timber operations, Coal for TVL and WCMLCP and Automotive for the modern WCML routes. So vol 7 has to be based on one of those themes and for the wagons we're missing most would come from around the 80s and 90s.
Odd they'd announce 7 and 8 (or rather the existence of) just out of the blue not on the roadmap like that...
Also this, it usually isnt normal for DTG to announce that kind of stuff out of the blue. Which adds to my TSW7 theory.
cargo line 1 and 2 = TSW4 cargo line 3 and 4 = TSW5 cargo line 5 and 6 = TSW6 cargo line 7 and 8 = TSW7 the logic is obvious with two cargo packs per TSW iteration
One thing keeping me from buying Vol.6 day one is if this and all following ones will be implemented into future timetables similar to the UK cargo lines. I cant see why this wouldnt be the case and i know its impossible to make promises, but it is a major selling point for me. Other than that it looks fantastic and good to have loco substitution availability confimed. For what has been mentioned in the other discussion thread, why doesnt the article have the TSW "6" logo?
Definitely getting this one- all the other Cargo Lines are good value for money. I'd also ask devs to please consider adding expert coupling to new rolling stock like this. It's a really cool feature imo. Also why is this article buried 3 layers deep in the forums? I know the restructuring isn't finalized yet, so hopefully these articles can find a home that's more visible.
Hey folks - turns out I can merge MrSouthernDriver thread to this one. Helps us keep an eye on the discussion in one place. Thank you!
Thanks Harry for the quick action! People are just too impatient and can’t wait even two seconds for DTG.
Thanks for the question. Is the expert coupling not proprietary to TSG? Its not core to TSW and thus not available for other devs to use. If thats not the case we'll certainly look into it for the future.
No idea i'm just a customer, but the idea of proprietary subsystems within the same overall game seems like a not great outcome for the players. That would be unfortunate if it couldn't be used across the game. Oh well. I do appreciate you taking time to reply though- keep the Cargo Line packs coming please!
Contary to the popular belief by some ill informed people that the Cargo Line packs are just cash grabs, the packs do sell quite well. So yeah I think we could expect more than Cargo Line Vol. 8 (speculation from me lol).. But yeah looking forward to more. Hentis
I'm not even taking that stance, but this is one of the poorest ways you could argue against it. Skyrim's horse armor did well too. so do FIFA's microtransactions, as is GTAVI being both $80 and not having a physical disc in its "physical" release. Nobody should be saying any of those can't be examples of "Cash grabbing" just because the consumer enabled their behavior. If anything in a lot of ways it validates the claim more, if nobody bought them there'd be no cash to grab.
the Game and all the DLC are grab crash err cash anyway and i will happily buy them as usual so they can create more cash grab DLC for me
This type of package had been requested years ago for German railways. Unfortunately, it comes too late, now that the TSW is completely boiled. DTG's great "gift" is always being one step behind.
6 scenarios on one route I don't plan on getting? Nope. Can't justify that. If it were a good route (maybe UK or US) I had, then maybe yes for $5.00. As it is, it's just too low hanging fruit and I won't get a route I don't want just to play a weak cargo pack. I'm sure there might be German fans who will disagree.
So then the blurry textures are fixed on console? On Series X I already have to remove all frieght and static AI plus a few other layers already to get it to work without blurry textures. So a hard pass.
On Series S, there is a reduced timetable for the Ludwigsbahn with no layers at all due to performance. So you're only able to drive the BR425, BR406, BR111 + dostos and BR185 (I believe on GEN8 the timetable is even more reduced). Isn't it a bit strange we can't have layers, but a paid add-on is possible? Or are we gonna end with blurry textures after adding this DLC?
While Cargoine packs don't really interest me in the slightest, it is cool to see their own little mini roadmap kind of thing. Nice to see upcoming content even if its not advanced. Especially considering many were wondering whether Skyhook had kind of drifted away completley from TSW content.
If that is your opinion, what are you doing on the forums here anymore? Also this suggests that whatever a 3rd party (or DTG) is going to release - it will always be too late? Too late for what? There is still not a real competitor to TSW out there. Sure, there are games with some potential. But none of these (except the aged TSC) are a real competition to TSW. So I don't get your point. Also, I find it pretty cool, that Skyhook has a 2nd cargo line DLC for the german market in their pipeline. There are sooo many freight waggons to do. I hope Cargo Line will get a layer on other german routes in future as iirc substitution for freight is not a thing.
LucaZone was fairly active on the Discord about this pack, some highlights: Q: Why not include a fixed 187? Q: Why do the screenshots only show a boring red 185? Q: Why did the earlier packs need to include the Class 66 repeatedly? Q: Why not use a BR 147 without the Nahverkehrs package? Q: Why not remove the Class 66s from the packs now? Q: How long does it take to release a Cargo Pack?
Damn Adam is throwing some shots at DTG between the lines. I feel these answers come from an honest place and describe the relationship and frustrations of 3rd party devs for the community pretty solidly. I am glad the 187 rework did not materialize for this DLC, if it would have been included in the cargoline pack it would just continue with the Class 66 heritage. And making DLC depend on DLC would have been a terrible decision if it was to reference the original release of the 187. Only TSG had really done that before with the 101 Expert Timetable pack, not even sure how DTG allowed it as I recall it was a policy to not sell DLC for DLC unless the first one is a base route. Still hopeful that the 187 gets its updates in time and will be a good substitution loco.
