I have found also this a bit bizar.... Improved suspension physics of the TEA tanker to reduce the stiffness and make it more visible. Why you are willing to add suspension to a cargo wagon....? I can understand in a train with a cab but for a freight wagon i dont get it...
The separate 158 timetable still exists. The 158 was never on the original timetable so nothing is being removed.
No it's not been removed. The 158 timetable will still be there. With the 158 available to drive... Yeah they should've made two timetables, one including it and one not
"Added playable Class 158 and 170 services (including mixed 158/170 formations) between Glasgow Queen Street and Greenhill Junction (near Falkirk), and AI at Glasgow Queen Street' Ooh so you can do it for one route but not the other!
I do have to say that I find it very strange that the route they actually belong on isn’t being used, and instead they’re deployed on a route where it’s completely unrealistic. The 158 is the train for the Fife Circle Line, and by removing it there’s practically nothing left except unrealistically running around on Edinburgh–Glasgow. A duplicate timetable is the solution
Also, no driveable LNER services on Fife Circle is definitely an odd choice as well considering the GBR 802 has been released and does provide services on ECML.
We currently have a base TT without 158 and another Sprinter TT that uses 158, for both E2G and FCL. Tomorrow we'll have an updated base TT that seems to use the 158 on E2G and not on FCL (same as we have now), while the sprinter TTs remain the same, so nothing is really being removed... just not being equally added. Still a shame they didn't add the 220 to the sprinter TTs, but that must be because those are Skyhook's.
Seems to be taking a little longer than expected to re-add the sneakily removed content from Birmingham to Crewe. I am sure it has just been overlooked from the update notes.
Looks to be a lot of good changes in both Edinburgh to Glasgow & Fife Circle, but echo the disappointment on the lack of 158. The separate 158 timetable is extremely sparse so very much impacts realism and immersion. So to not have the 158 on its home route is pretty poor and makes the purchase a bit of a nonsense imo. As far as the new timetable on Edinburgh to Glasgow goes I hope that the rush hour services stopping at Bishopbriggs & Lenzie have been added as well as the late night services that were excluded. If the timetable has been amended but left these changes out it would be very disappointing and hugely missed opportunity to add additional gameplay and variation. Also doesn’t appear to be any mention of rain appearing on the 385 drivers windscreen, I do hope that has also been remedied.
"Updated HST layer to use the Great Western Express HST" I guess that finally confirms the Scotrail one that was supposed to be coming is dead, then
In the Class 158 timetable for Fife Circle there was a layer for a scotrail hst, Edinburgh Glasgow used the GWE one
Ah I see. I wouldn't give up hope just yet though, you can still change a layer. At least this enables it in the interim.
It will be interesting to see how the 385 audio changes, as I’ve read the blurb a couple of times and can’t see that the traction sounds per se are changing. A few bits and pieces but not the strangled bagpipes that Rivet initially fed into Simugraph.
Going by the lack of it being mentioned in the updates, I guess we can continue to enjoy trackside "scenery" like this on Fife Circle then... This, ladies and gents, is one of the busiest stretch of motorways in Scotland and the approach to the Queensferry Crossing....I think somebody might have stolen the bridge !
Speaking of bagpipes I hope they’ve turned down the volume of those bagpipes at Waverley Station. I love hearing them but my god do they blow out your eardrums when you’re wearing headphones.
Why can't the "Substitution" settings be a bit richer than they currently are? Throw Class 158s into the timetable, and if a user doesn't own it, they get substituted by Class 170s? At least that way a full timetable can be enjoyed by everyone.
Because the 158s are two car and the 170s are three. Substitutions have to be the same number of vehicles
Not likely to be a huge issue if a single set and certainly not 2 vice 3 cars. This is also why at the timetable selection stage, we need an option to sub in a different train of the player's choice.
I don't know if this has already been discussed, but I wonder if there will be a release the HST Inter7city DLC because Fife now uses GWR's HST for Inter7city layer.
I think so. Later down the road. I still think the Scotrail HST is a possible pairing with a potential extension to Dundee which will maybe happen later down the road.
I'm going to give quite a brutal review of the updates. I always try remaining level headed with my feedback, and unfortunately some of this may seem disappointing: First of all the Edinburgh to Glasgow update. I trialled the 'updates' today, and I'll be quite honest with you, I barely noticed much. The route does seem completely dead compared to the Sprinter timetable which is disappointing. Second to that the updated sounds to the 385 fell a bit flat to me. I wasn't expecting miracles, but it just feels the sound set has been muted at higher speeds and replaced with borderline static TV sounds. Out of the biggest differences that could of been made to the 385, only 1 out of 3 of those has been implemented... I'll be quite frank, if you're going to update a DLC, you need to do it properly and bring it up to standards of modern DLC. The 385 still doesn't have suspension or GSMR onboard, and whilst I'm aware this was never mentioned as part of the updates, at a bare minimum this should have been a thing. The route itself outside of Edinburgh Waverley does feel quite dead VS the Sprinter timetable. Don't get it twisted Edinburgh is now a hive of activity on E2G and the work which has gone into updating it, is very good, and feels like the station has been opened up. But if you're leaving from the Glasgow end towards Edinburgh traffic still feels incredibly light. I don't know if this is to wait for the I7C HST to fit into the timetable at a later date though. But the work that has taken place to improve it does feel like a patch we should of received a few months after it's original release not years down the line, which has made it feel a bit flat. But it still doesn't feel like it's hit the spot to put it where it should be, or what it could be. I appreciate the work that has gone into it, but yeah, it still feels a bit flat to me. Fife Circle is a bit of a different story, I did atleast feel a bit busier, the scenery updates particularly around Edinburgh airport were noticeable, and the route did feel a bit more alive. There's a few XC services but these are spread out every few hours and the total number are in single digits. But it is most welcome to have the 220 finally added to it. Also the long awaited sounds have been implemented to the Class 170 which were much appreciated and make a hell of a lot of difference. Overall I did feel a more noticeable difference on the updates to FCL. The unfortunate part, is, blurring is now occuring on the Clas 170 which is an immersion killer across the board and not just exclusive to FCL. The suspension which is a modern feature has been left out on both the 170/385 which I've found a very odd decision, and the the Class 158 not being on the standard timetable is odd (which was mentioned in the notes so I'm not acting if that comes as a surprise. But it was an odd decision to leave it out, as it could of padded the diversity out). The 385 updates have fell a bit flat for me unfortunately. That's just my completely honest feedback, and I feel a lot more could still be done, particularly to Edinburgh to Glasgow. So whilst I do appreciate the work that has been carried out to improve the routes, with Edinburgh to Glasgow atleast, this should of been a bare minimum update that had taken place years ago and alot more work could be done to improve it. Rivet are perfectly capable of good work recently and I'd highly recommend they further improve both routes over the coming months and let this just be a baseline.
I just did a Voyager run from Markinch to Edinburgh Waverley and only had them briefly between Haymarket and Waverley stations
I see the scenery coming into Linlithgow from Glasgow is still as half-arsed as ever, sadly. On the whole I think the patch is a big improvement, but still some glaring scenery misses.
GOOD THINGS: Edinburgh Airport looks very good now. I was shocked how good it looks with the lights. Now it feels like you’re passing an airport that’s alive. Though it would have been the cherry on top if planes would fly in and take off on the runway. The ambience at Waverley is so much better now. It doesn’t sound repetitive and annoying like before where you could literally hear it looping over and over. Class 170 audio is much better than what they were before. Some nice scenery upgrades. Has there been a few texture changes throughout the route or is it just me. I feel some of the tunnel walls look a bit nicer now. Not sure if I’m tripping lol. NOT SO GOOD THINGS: Ballast still looks terrible throughout most of the route. Balmoral clock is still to this day floating in mid air for some reason. It should be attached to the tower. This wasn’t an issue in the Edinburgh Glasgow version of Waverley before this patch. Now it’s on both routes. Timetable still needs improvement as we all knew already. It’s still not how it should be sadly… Might just be me but I felt this route was stuttering even more than the last time I played through it. No improvement at all to Onboard Announcements. The big delay between the chime and the announcer is still present. No station announcements were added. I really thought this would be the first thing they would have implemented as it seems to be the way forward with newer routes now. It is an improvement on mostly the scenery side of things but sadly both routes still need some work on them… Hopefully more patches come down the road.
Cargo Line Vol. 5 update seems to missing from the ps5 version as it was not listed but the other updates came through okay today
I have noticed that the 101 Expert and the BR218 does have received an update all dough it was not mentiond in the changelog... dtg_jan can you please check and share whats done on this addon?
