Hello Everyone, today I am going to be suggesting the Crosscountry Corridor.

    IMG_0883.jpeg

    ——————————————————————————————————————————

This Route Runs for 65 Miles, from the 2nd Largest City in the UK, Birmingham, to the City of Sheffield in the North. Crossing from the South of England, into the North.

    Why this Route?

The Birmingham To Sheffield line is a key corridor for Crosscountry routes across the UK, and having a Crosscountry oriented route would make very good use of a new operator in game.

    What is the Stations?

BIRMINGHAM NEW STREET, WATER ORTON, WILNECOTE, TAMWORTH, BURTON ON TRENT, WILLINGTON, DERBY, CHESTERFIELD, DRONFIELD AND SHEFFIELD.

    TOTAL LENGTH: 65 Miles

    ——————————————————————————————————————————

    What is the Rolling Stock?

BR Class 220/221 “Voyager” XC (NEW)

    IMG_0885.jpeg

The Class 220/221 is the main locomotive on this route, doing a majority of the services between Birmingham and Sheffield.

BR Class 170/5 and /6 XC (REUSED)
    IMG_0886.jpeg

The Class 170 returns for this Route, doing Playable Stopping services as far as Derby

Points of Interest Along the Route.

    Burton Wetmore Sidings

    IMG_0887.jpeg

Burton Wetmore Sidings houses a lot of Heritage Locomotives and Rolling Stock, which could add some variety in the sidings with the current BR rolling stock we have in game.

    Tamworth Station

    IMG_0888.jpeg

Tamworth Station is unique in it having both high and low level platforms, Low Level being for WCML Traffic and the High Level Platforms for Crosscountry Routes. It could make use of the current WCML stock we have from Euston - Milton Keynes

    ——————————————————————————————————————————

    Route Hopping

Birmingham New Street - For Birmingham Cross City

    Derby - For Midland Mainline.

    PRICE

as this Route includes a Heavily Requested Locomotive, and has a decent length of 65 miles, the price for this Route would probably be the standard £29.99

Thank you all for Viewing this Suggestion.

Presumably you could get some MML layers at Derby and Sheffield too along with all the Birmingham New Street layers.

Sure it's further than 61 miles. Birmingham to Derby is 41 miles. Derby to Sheffield is 36 miles, so 77 altogether. Still doable I guess.

Fat chance of it happening, but how about it going to Doncaster as well and link to ECML?

Unless skyhook make a layer on the MML for XC services at Derby, Nottingham and Leicester, this route could finally make Derby look more complete as well as adding the 221 which was annoyingly emitted from the 220 pack.

MML is massively in need of a new TT, basically any non-playable EMT service is missing, then of course the XC services as you mention.

I don't see it happening, unfortunately

You keep asking this. These are community suggestions for possible future routes, nothing more. Questions of when are therefore irrelevant and nonsensical.

imo Brum to Sheffield is perfect as a standalone route. The short branch up to Matlock with an EMR 170 would be a welcome addition but not a requirement as we alr have that section in PFR.

Maybe later we could get a frankfurt sbahn style network route connecting Sheffield, Doncaster & Leeds

Do the 810s and the 222s run here (we could definitely have one of these a dlc)

Mate, these are suggestions, there's no confirmed dates for anything on here, these are suggestions, you've asked on multiple submissions when they are coming, they are suggestions, not official yet-to-be-released DLC

Not very familiar with this area - is the DBY to SHF bit just matching the MML section, or is it a different route between the two? Otherwise, I would think do DBY to something further south than BHM to avoid duplication and get more track represented in game.

It is the same but as the MML route in game ends at Derby you'd only really be duplicating the area around Derby station

what we need is MML extending, so we can run those HSTs for more than half an hour :) possibly with more speed variations :)

Yes I think Adam from Skyhook has stated several times they see no commercial potential in extending the MML beyond its current limits, even though for many it would be a Day One purchase.

Not sure whether this would go with the route, but could it be a thought to add in the Erewash Valley from Chesterfield -> Trent Jn as well, seen as XC often use that bit of the line for diversions from time to time, curving round Trent Jn and heading up the MML to Derby, changing ends there and heading down the usual route again. Also will be good to get Toton in the game, and will open up plentiful freight opportunities.
