    Hello folks,

Tomorrow, July 16th at 6 pm UTC, we will preview the upcoming Thames Valley Branches route Add-On.

If you have any questions, please post them here. We will gather your questions beforehand, but please understand that we might not be able to answer all of them.

To make things run smoothly, please use this thread for questions related to the new route only.

After the preview stream, we will timestamp the VOD on YouTube, post a summary of the questions and answers, and close the thread, as it will have served its purpose by then.

Looking forward to seeing you in chat!

    All the best,
    Jan

So the 165 included is the 2 car variation, but will we ever see the 3 car 165/1 make an appearance? I know they don't run on most of the branches but for me personally, feels off to be missing some units due to this :)

Will the Class 165 layer onto appropriate services on the GWE remaster?

Have their been any audio updates or alterations to the Class 165? (Audio from the 166 is still very good for its time and doesn't really need updating. But I was wondering if any specific 165 recordings had been made. Thats if there is any difference in the engines. All I know is that some sub class variants of the 165 are limited to 75mph vs the 166s 90mph speed limit).

Still, the Windsor Railway Bridge still look nothing like the real one and is a generic asset at the moment. Any plans to do a remodel in the future or this is already getting a facelift? This is literally the only complaint that I have with this route...

will there be three separate timetables for the three branch lines, making it easier to keep track of your progress?

Not really relevant to gameplay, and I can see if this goes unanswered, but just out of gamedev curiosity I'd love to know this. Usually the routes are one, long, interconnected route. Since these are three, separate parts, are they technically three, tiny routes existing as separate entities, or are they actually existing as a part of one 3d space somewhere, only set aside a considerable distance? I imagine the first option would increase engine bugdets for various things, but I am not sure it's possible. Thanks!

    Marlow Maidenhead: 22min 5-9
    Henly Twyford 12min 1-4
    Slough Windsor 6min 10-11

This is a late question for DTG after watching some of the stream on delay. It’s about the route hopping markers that are becoming very prevalent and are very prominent on some stations, like in this route. Are we ever going to get the option to hide them? It’s been nearly two years of asking and I’m getting fed up of seeing them spoiling the look of a growing number of well made stations. Can we make sure the next iteration of TSW has this option? All other in-game markers can be hidden so this should be no exception.

The answer was: They basically sit on different tiles in the world. They load separately so you are effectively only loading a small area when you are playing. This has partially allowed additional scenery density to be achieved within sensible limits.

    Good afternoon folks,

The timestamped VOD of the preview stream can be found here:

We'll close the Q&A thread now, but you can find a collection of questions and answers below:
    • Will we ever see the 3 car 165/1 make an appearance? - Alumina
      • Not planned at the moment
    • Can we drive services from Paddington if we have the GWR remaster? - nhilsubsolenovum
      • There are no services from Paddington onto any of the branch lines
    • What will be the playable and AI layers for this route? - foggy
      • All branch line services are playable, and there are HST and Class 165 Ai trains at the endpoints. There is a railtour layer and once the Class70 comes out, it will layer on for some engineering services during the night
    • Will the Class 165 layer onto appropriate services on the GWE remaster? – SierraOscar95
      • Yes it will through the standard substitution system. Unfortunately not on Riviera though, because all their Class 166 timetable services are 3 car services
    • Have there been any audio updates, alterations or specific audio recordings been made for the Class 165? – SierraOscar95
      • Main audio is the same as the 166 and 165 share the same engine and are operated almost completely the same. But sounds for the new feature like the Vents and heating, as well as the cab setup and the openable cab window were added
    • How long did it take to make this route? – subwayg0at
      • Around 4-5 months
    • Could the Windsor Railway Bridge be eventually remodelled?– subwayg0at
      • Not planned at the moment
    • Will the timetable line up with GWE? – Kim1087
      • Yes, all branch line services depart at the same time as in GWE and the AI services are lining up with GWE
    • Will each branch have its own timetable to make tracking progress easier? – historicalduck7
      • No, everything is on one big map and its all one big timetable
    • Will the Marlow services be split into 2 parts? – historicalduck7
      • There are the realistic peak services, but then services that go from/to Maidenhead<-> Marlow are one single service
    • Are the three routes separate entities, or are they part of one 3D space, just set apart by a considerable distance? – blizbeast pl
      • They are all part of one big 3D space, exactly positioned where they would be in real life
