That's when it started getting mentioned yes. However, now it has people complaining about many routes prior to that. So.... it makes me wonder if it just was accepted then and mentioned more now, or something else has changed otherwise? It seems weird if nothing were changed on those older routes like ECML that they would suddenly have an issue they didn't have before. That doesn't sound logical unless something were changed. (Was anything like announcements or a layer added to ECML? I do know that a couple of the older routes were "updated" (GWE and Koln-Aachen) but as far as I know ECML hasn't been?
DTG Matt What I said before was correct. It looks blurry at a distance, but once I get close and it gets to full resolution it stays that way even if I go quite some distance away again. Made a small video showing what happens, and made some comments about how the number and the BR logo look blurrier compared to other parts of the livery. Note: Youtube will take some extra time to process the HD version. HD version should be done now.
OK so yeah that's not the same as the blurriness that console players get - this isn't texture pool starvation. What I suspect is that the number and the arrows may have an incorrect "texture group" set up, so they're not loading in high detail soon enough, and it loads them as needed as you get closer - once loaded, it stays fine because it doesnt need to unload it. The numbers being a bit soft edged still when close - that's somewhat because it's quite a large area and you can't do a super detail texture for that without using tons of memory up. Those tiny little plaques are easy to do a high detail texture for. Thanks for this, will use it to continue review and feed into the process as clearly something isn't set up right there. Matt.
Thanks Matt. I appreciate you replied today since I know you are not feeling well. Hope you will feel better tomorrow.
Is it possible to change how textures load using Engine.ini tweaks? I used to do a lot with it but for the past few games I haven't been bothered with it.
That's basically the purpose of the texture groups, it tells the engine how to prioritise loading, maintaining in the texture pool and so forth. Matt.
DTG, can you please add another line for me on the Frankenbahn DLC. I was tempted by the discount offer, but that was a mistake. When I filled out the questionnaire, I did not own the Frankenbahn DLC. I play on PS5.
Matt. I don't wanna break your heart over this. But on the Xbox version of the game on PC. The entire game is blurry. Even in the menus. Messed with the GDK etc. And it hasn't fixed anything. I've no issues running other 4k games such as Forza Horizon 6 and MSFS24 at 4k which I purchased from the Xbox Store. But TSW6 is by far the most problematic. I think this might be an issue that extends BEYOND specific lines and might actually be an issue with the game itself. It registers my display at 4k even at full screen but it's hardlocked to 1080p and some of the writing is too blurry to even read. For context I've a 4080 Super, i7-12700KF, and 32GB DDR5. So I shouldn't have an issue running the sim at 4k at all. But yet the display doesn't register the 4k image even when selected in the menu.
If you're on PC seeing blurry things, it's likely not the same problem and I need to know your specs, and settings please. Matt.
Can you share me a screenshot of the game showing things as blurry please? Also can you confirm your settings in game, specifically the texture quality? Thanks Matt.
NVIDIA 5070ti and AMD Ryzen™ 7 7800X3D and All Settings on the highest Setting with 150% scale. You Can See it specially on the DB Logo like on the ICE 1 and the DB BR 101 at the Front. Each time I Moved away with the cam, After a few Meters it become blurry
I don't think that anything was added to ECML. No announcements there. That route isn't very busy, the scenery is nothing special. Nevertheless I got blurry textures arriving Grantham. Can't remember I had those issue on TSW 4. The Kinzigtalroute is blurry since release. And always around Hanau. No problems from Fulda to around Hanau. Arriving at Frankfurt the blur was gone, although the station was full of AI-Trains. Low FPS, but the textures were fine. Playing on PS5.
On what gear? I have essentially NO blurry-texture issues (I had one that turned out to be a mod conflict). But then I have a pretty powerful rig. How much (or little) VRAM does your graphics card have?
Ok - coming back to this. We've done another pass on some optimisations - picking one of the routes that should benefit, Fife, while we haven't directly optimised it, it ought to benefit from some of the changes and I gather since the update, fife has been blurring a lot more than it did before the update (which will be because the new timetable update uses a lot more stock variety I suspect!). If you're seeing blurry textures on Fife, on PS5, Xbox Series S|X can you share service numbers to run or ways to witness the blurries - and i'll get the beta team to give them a try, so far they're not having any joy reproducing blurry with the new build but I want to make sure we are testing the right things before we claim victory and start exploring other routes that have have benefited Thank you! Matt
The Class 801 has extremely bad blurring. All of the text is garbled and unreadable. I play on PS4 Pro.
PS5 Pro Service 1S49 Class 220 External textures failed less than 2min past Haymarket EDIT. Also tried 2G91 which leaves Edinburgh a few minutes after 1S49. While it encounters same AI trains it doesn't suffer from blurring unlike above (though didn't do a full run) So either it seems it's a 220 problem or it's a player train that's actually layered in to a route problem
On the subject of blurry textures, it always amazes me how such busy routes like Trenton, Morristown, Stamford, LIRR Remastered etc don't suffer from any blurryness etc. I've gone back to playing US routes because of this and is really refreshing not to encounter such issues - hopefully the many UK and German routes in particular get blurry textures sorted so I can enjoy them again!
Absolutely! I think the issue is caused by layers as US routes have comparatively fewer layers than UK or DE routes. The German routes are still by far the worst for me on PS5 for this issue with Frankfurt to Fulda still being one of the worst for this problem.
