Loving this chat and fully support a NTP remaster. I'd pay for it for sure. Just wondering if DTG would ever maybe remaster and provide at a small cost to existing owners and charge a higher price to new buyers in line with new route DLC prices?? This might reward loyalty and provide upgraded DLC which might tempt newer players or players to this retro content. I have no evidence of it, but I would not be surprised if the quality of JTs DLC has attracted people to play this era in increasing numbers.
I already own NTP, But if we get a remaster on a par with JT or the GWR remaster. I'd pay for it. But it would be nice to have a new loco to go with it, say a 56 or 25.
So I had a run on this route promoted by this thread and I have to say it is better than I remember. It was nice to play without blurriness too! The only thing I did was to add static stock, mainly at Leeds and Manchester stations as they felt too quiet and empty. I note the discussion regarding the best year for this route, but as far as variety goes, it wasn't hard to really liven things up with a heap of existing trains. I might have bunged a HST in Intercity livery in as well and I thought it looked good. Surely this route has got to be up there with Brighton Main Line for the next remaster!
be interesting to see what people would pay for a remaster. (was the GWR offered out free i dont have it so i don't know) but to me id be happy paying round the £20 mark (without a loco) even though i already own the route. my theory being that if my £20 got the people who did the remaster a few beers as a thank you, that would be a small price to pay for the hours of enjoyment i would get from their work.
Matt has said before that NTP would not lend itself well to a "remaster" as it was built differently to much newer routes, some of the route is not hugely accurate and for the whole bringing the route to a standard that is generally accepted as the norm in 2026 it would be more straightforward to make the route again from fresh, which would mean charging for a NTP2 DLC which many players would probably not be comfortable with. Given the amount of railway that is yet to be covered in TSW its way down the list. I'd be much more interested in Brighton Mainline getting a quality of life improvement, which DTG have already said is on a current list of things that they would like to do.
The exact same thing was said aboout GWE and we had a high quality remaster of that done, besides, I take what DTG say with a pinch of salt
if that the case that its been mentioned that NTP was done differently and not lend well to a remaster then fair play. its not far off being accurate for the era but which route is bang on to the exact year. the only comments i see on here is that BML TT is too full and would not be feasible for a remaster as it would push out most console users, or they would need a very reduced TT i doubt NTP would require a full rebuild in terms of scenery far from it, and to add a little more to it. it still stands as a good route now just needs a refresh, what price people would pay is the open question.
Could we get Pacers and Sprinters in by doing a reverse "Diesel Legends" like they did with GWR? Al alternate DLC collection with a Pacer, a Sprinter, maybe the 101 as well because there was a little transitional period, at least there was on the East Lancashire branch where we'd get the older DMUs and Pacers running side by side.
Brighton Mainline remaster is way down my list of UK routes I'd love to see given the remaster treatment. Tees Valley, NTP are the two for me.
Actually i would pay too for a remake dlc. Suggestion 1: Remaster + new timetable 1981+ extension to the healey mill yard (tmd included). For this id pay 25 bucks. Suggestion 2: Remaster + additional new timetable in 1986 + extension to preston. Full price route dlc for 45 bucks. Suggestion 3: Remaster + class 25 loco + new timetable in 1981, for 25 bucks. So which one
I've always maintained (on the topic of NTP) that extending it to Liverpool is almost an absolute necessity, it allows running from one end to another suitable driver change point, it never really made sense for drivers to be changing at Vic... A 25 is a must if it stays in the early-mid 80s, a 56 if it strays later... I would actually pay hard cash for a proper and thorough remaster but it has to be the 80s, I ain't paying for another modern day route :p
liverpool would be nice but it seems too much of a pipe dream unless it was a separate route like my idea of the calder valley seems a bit far stretched, but to add heeley mills on, should be a must. the class 25 as much as it would be nice, don't forget as a remaster both the 40 and 45 would be required and need a rework. id pay for the 25 as a separate DLC if it layered into PFR (in TT green) NTP and the just trains routes, but as part as a NTP remaster maybe that's a bit too much same with the 56.
i should add to that, that the heavy freight pack with the 40 and 08 should be reworked, included and made redundant. likewise with the JT class 20 that should come in rather than the TVL one, just to try and streamline the amount of old TSW2/3/4 DLC required.
