While you got probably so much fun with other stuff i decide to start another project (right now i have so much going on There is many of you who got Train Simulator Classic and usually its hard to go back from TSW and play some stuff in TSC. And then it was little bit unfair for TSC which got so many routes to just take a space on my drive and doing nothing. So i begin investigating the files and find out that it should be easy to port stuff into the TSW from TSC (routes, assets for the routes). Not talking about locos because TSW is using much detailed models but porting routes where the track is replaced with TSW track, map is the same, landscape is the same, you can change the materials to look better, etc... I made some proof of concept that its working, here is some screens from my work right now... the whole conversion right now is not fully automatic, my target is to map all signals which is TSC using and replace them with TSW signals as TSW signals are already setup to work. Same goes for junctions, level crossing, etc... In the end what can be used from TSC is just that landscape and rails path. There is still a lot of work to be done but here you go: Hedborough North: Fictional route Seebergbahn: Fictional route SeebergBahn now with materials imported: In the end, i hope for pushing couple of buttons and the route will be imported and almost setup automatically for cooking in TSW editor and play it in TSW. Its probably still long journey but one day your TSC collection will not just waste your hard drive space but it will be again usefull
DTG experimented with porting TS routes into TSW, but found that it was too broken. It just wasn't worth porting a route and then having to fix so many things that you might as well just rebuild the route from scratch.
About the best you could do if the source files are available (i.e. no naughty reverse engineering as an unofficial plug in for 3D Canvas allowed to bring MSTS models back to an editable format, for re-export to TSC), is reuse some of the scenery and building assets.
