Hello friends, Did you noticed the difference in turntable sizes? From the 7 turntables I know, 3 of them can't handle Gordon... 3 short Turntables: Knapford platform 1 & 2 , Tidmouth Station and Wellsworth Yard. 4 big Turntables: Knapford Yard, Vicarstown Yard, Tidmouth Sheds, and Crovans Gate Steamworks... The big turntables can move Gordon, the others can't but they can move all the others engines.
I have noticed that sometimes the turntables move very slowly, and then other times they move quickly. But I haven't been able to work out what the factor that influences this is. I don't think it's a set turntable or engine that dictates it's speed.
I feel turntables are underutilized. But that's because Timetable mode doesn't force you to use it, once you have reached the last station. Turntables are mostly used by the AI. I didn't know how Thomas got to the other side of Annie & Clarabel in Timetable mode, until I watched the AI do it. Turns out there's a Turntable in Kanpford station that I never knew was there.. The only time I really needed to use a turntable was in the shutting challenge where you control Diesel. There was one brown truck I couldn't pull until I turned Diesel around.
I honestly have mixed feelings about that turntable behind Knapford Platforms 1 & 2. It's nice to have it there so you don't have to go all the way around to the yard to turn Thomas around, but it's just one of those things that feels a little weird like Gordon not stopping and pulling from Platform 1.
That is because Gordon is to big for that turntable. I don't know why the creative made 2 sizes of turntables.
