Recently I've been experiencing some new crashes. Often on my first attempt to start the game it will crash after loading half way. It will maybe crash on my second attempt and then it usually works on the third. I've noticed this issue has become more prolific with the more DLC I have installed. The game has also crashed when I am first setting up a train and I go to turn in a switch. As I click A to interact with it my movement freezes but I can still hear sound. After a moment or so the game crashes. So far this has happened on Blackpool branches in a class 47 and on Stuggart - Heilbronn with the DB BR 294
I know this issue quite well on Xbox. Solution: only keep installed what you need, uninstall the rest, (I'm an Xbox series S player), and I have only just kept all I need which are UK dlcs. (This is just on the series s) How many dlcs do you have installed by the way?
maybe this video is somewhat helpful ? a big maybe since i do not own an Xbox series x & s Xbox Series X & S: Change These Settings RIGHT NOW in 2026!
It’s crazy to me that Xbox players can’t have all the DLC installed at once without crashing on startup. PS5 players can have every piece of DLC installed. The game takes 7 minutes to load with all that but never crashes at least. I would think it’s in DTG’s best business interest to get that fixed. The “collect ‘em all” craze can’t apply if the game just crashes when adding more DLC. I sure hope that DTG gets this fixed for you Xboxers sooner rather than later!
I believe on PS there where also loading issues lately and don't forgot about the mounting issues. The game is just becoming to big, so not installing all DLC is the best solution at the moment. But I agree, this needs to be solved and we need better options for disabling layers and also substitutions. From what I understood, disabled layers are still loaded into the timetable in memory, but not visible on route. Disabling a layer should be something the same as not owning a layer. Also substitutions of the same loco from multiple add-ons needs solving, as they're all loaded. A substitution manager would be very handy, but from what I got, they're working on something to make substitutions work better to avoid a waste of resourses.
