It's down for maintenance https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/mastery-down-for-essential-maintenance.98299/
Ah, so Preston-Crewe has three mastery tiers. Nice. Also: the mastery menu in the game seems to be working better than before. I wonder if that is because of the maintenance last week..
Am I reading correctly that existing threads like this one will continue to exist and we can still post in them? I surely hope so, as this is my favourite thread of all time..
Would anyone else like to see the monthly mastery badges they've achieved shown in a tab/page in the Mastery Rewards as posters and scenery tiles are treated rather than disappear each month? I know they are available as objects in livery designer but not much use there to most players I guess.
I think they will be retained in an archive but read only. Another example of positive (even when it messes up) and progressive gameplay discussion being snuffled by this decision DTG JD .
The bit that confuses me is they state 'removal' of general discussion - so where would these existing threads sit to post in. I have tagged Harry for clarity on the main thread.
i rlly hope this forum post will stay its the place i always check when i wanna know what the new monthly challenges are
alr good news the general discussion forum wont be deleted! anyway since its almost july what can we expect to see for new challenges from dtg?
Or 75 collectibles! For Tier 2, I wouldn't object to a bit of mileage accumulation this time round - at least 800km/500 miles.
This is the one month where I hope the challenges won't be too hard. Will be on holiday for almost three weeks... Hopefully I can get a flying start on Wednesday
Likewise, I would hope DTG wouldn't set too much of a challenge during peak holiday season (July & August).
July 2026: Tier 1: I would have done it in july: Complete a Scenario with a temperature above 5ºC/41ºF. I'm an Engineer and I'm OK: Complete 4 timetables. Tier 2: I Am Speed: Complete 5 Scenarios or Timetables after reaching 100mph/160Kph. According To The Map, We've Only Gone Four Inches: Drive 250miles/402Km. Time Well Spent: Play for 2 hours, but it only counts if you successfully complete the Scenario/Timetable.
Don't need to unlock to get them Tier 1: I'm An Engineer And I'm Okay: Complete 4 Timetables I Would Have Done It In July: Complete a Scenario with a temperature above 5°C / 41°F Tier 2: I Am Speed: Complete 5 Scenarios or Timetables after reaching 100mph / 160kph According To The Map, We've Only Gone Four Inches: Drive 250 miles / 402km Time Well Spent: Play for 2 Hours, but it only counts if you successfully complete the Scenario/Timetable
That is pleasant enough for July, though would prefer as always a slightly more meaty distance challenge. I’m assuming the two hour challenge can be over several sessions, doesn’t have to be finished in one go?
For the 160kmh timetable, I used the Frankfurt-Hanau services with the BR 411 on Frankfurt-Fulda.15-17 minutes and the part between Offenbach and Hanau has a long enough stretch with a 160kmh speed limit.
Quite refreshing too when the MKC to Crewe run I started on Tuesday and finished yesterday, counted as one of the Tier One complete timetables. Scenario for Tier One will be the usual Sherman Hill walk to the office and finish, then a couple of ECS moves to finish up and move on to the meat of Tier 2! Will work this into my marathon journey from Eastbourne to Kirkcaldy, though it might be a bit of a push asking for the Cessna or 767 in FSX from Carlisle to Glasgow to count, though!
How do you tell if a scenario is over 5°C. It doesn't tell you on the selection screen like the timetable runs do.
The one on Sherman Hill where you can just walk to the marker and finish, Sandbox Switching its called.
I think most scenarios that don't involve snow would qualify. I did the 15 minute scenario on Medway Valley, the one with the sheep.
just to let others know even services or scenarios from mods work with monthly masteries I just did a yorkshire commuter run and it counted toward the mastery
By the way, if anyone is looking for a quick way to clear the 100 MPH services in Tier 2 to move onto more interesting stuff, just grab the Electrostar jobs from Watford Jn to Wembley on WCMLS. With a bit of speeding and white knuckle braking there is a brief section where you can just get up to 101 MPH!
Also, if you save just before the end of a scenario but are still going 100MPH+, you can save scum these if you want, but only the distance driven from reloading will count.
To each their own but, doesn’t that sorta defeat the accomplishment? I’ve been running the DB BR 101 expert - plenty of opportunities to get over. 100 mph.
For me, the 'time well spent' challenge apparently also counted the time I left the PS on standby while playing a training session. Had the two hour mark completed, when I effectively only spent 10 minutes. This challenge was moot anyway, as it doubles up with the completion of the 420 km challenge, but still.
Though to be honest a bit burned out with TSW at the moment. I even started reinstalling TSC last night and got my eye on that vintage Scottish Peterhead route. Apart from the ancient locos and DMU it looks superb and I highly doubt we will see it’s like in TSW. Ever.
Hopefully so, since it's peak summer holiday season. Thankfully I managed to get my July mastery done before going away for two weeks.
Yes it's a lovely route. The old IHH origin locos it comes with are a bit meargh at least the sounds, but unlike TSW at least you can swap it out by cloning the scenario and using the editor or TS Tools. About time TSW gave us that option. Sadly I don't think we will ever see the likes of the Buchan route in TSW. I see myself spending a lot of time on it.
August mastery: Tier 1 People Mover: Drive 30 miles / 48km August Rain: Complete 3 Timetables while it is Raining Tier 2 Objective Reality: Complete 200 Objectives Hold The Door: Complete 8 Timetables I See Every Scenario: Complete 4 Scenarios
Nothing too onerous there, then. Presumably the usual Sherman save scum will take care of the scenarios. Timetables in the rain can be three ECS moves and the objectives a couple of Guard runs from Lancaster to Morecambe or similar!
