    New version is out :)
I've added annotations for Clinchfield. Mainline only ATM (no branches).

I've improved the handling in situations where the weather service becomes unavailable, hopefuly no more falling temperatures. :)

I've added the options to adjust the visibility / fog rate of change, check the settings. upload_2026-7-21_20-35-0.png
You can change the overall rate of change, by adjusting the %. Or limit the maximum train speed used by the algorithm, to limit the rate of change increase as you speed up.

And, I've added a new, small feature, which is not really related to weather or annotations... but becasue sometimes, I'm not sure which route, or in what season I want to play, and I also feel that some of the older routes are just collecting dust. So I've added a simple 'random picker'
    upload_2026-7-21_20-39-33.png
It will select a random route and date from all the annotated routes. You can re-roll the picks. The app doesn't know which routes you actually own, so you need to either uncheck those that you don't own, or, if it picks a route you don't own, press the highlighted button. It will then unselect the route and do another roll. The selection is preserved. :)

I noticed in the Random Picker between Riviera and RRO, there are three routes named "Route 10", "Route 14", and "Route 18" .:)

And for Nahverker Dresden in the Random Picker, the route is strangely named "wwwwwwwwwNahverker Dresden"

The Route XY will be filtered out in the next update. The picker takes the names from the annotated track names, in this field
    upload_2026-7-24_11-32-16.png

If you load into a route, which is not annotated, the app will asign a default Route XY name to it.... The wwwwwww is most likely your rename, when the app was focused instead of TSW :)

The next update should also bring annotations for Thames Valley Branches ;)

    Hi
Love the app, been using it a while. However I'm having problem, for some reason when approaching a station or landmark, it shows the previous one for a few seconds then disappears and a few seconds later it shows the correct one. Is there a way for me to fix this?

Are you running the latest update? I remember something like this being an issue in one of the older versions, but I haven't heard of it being a problem for a while.

Do you use the overlay window, or a separate, dedicated window?

Shows up in mine, a reinstall over the top may fix it, but with uninstalls remember that:

Check if just removing the stuff that is saved here fixes it.

I have located the unistall now. I dont see I have much option but to delete and try a reinstall. Even if I find a rainy run it barely gets above drizzle now. Mostly just cloudy. Also when I use the weather finder I cant even get any options above 'moderate rain' . Hard to believe in Glasgow! lol. Its disappointing just geting cloud all the time. Any one any other ideas before I give it a go?

I don't know what you mean by "I don’t see I have much option but to delete and try a reinstall" its like 2 mins to do it and if that's all it takes to fix something that sounds like a win. What's the big bad that will happen if you do it?

There is also a button in the bottom of the weather settings, which will reset all the mappings to default values

I will definately try that. It seems that whatever I set I get rain noises, but no rain on windscreen! (I have treid 2 different trains and routes) Fog and cloud change as expected though. I will have to work systematically through this, there will be a cause somewhere!

    New version is out :)

    - When in automatic mode, the app will now show the automatically selected mode, with all the related settings options
    upload_2026-8-3_19-47-57.png

    - I've add a limit on fast the in-game precipitation slider can change

    upload_2026-8-3_19-42-34.png
It is at 33% per 1minute by default. This is a hard limit on all thing affecting precipitation... so. i.e. it smoothens the Rain -> Snow transition, because previously, the precipitation multiplier was applied instantly, so precipitation went from 20% Rain to 80% Snow in one update. Now it will transition between those two values.

This also allows me to improve the transition further in future update, where I would like the rain to be forced to 0, then allow the temperature change, and the start with the snow precipitation.

I would also like to implement 'shower' behavior.. so when there are showers reported, the rain should be intermittent, we short showers, interrupted by no-rain windows... All smoothed according to this limit..

This may be a totally silly question..... But what's the difference between Live Weather and Automatic Weather?

Automatic weather is an automatic mode selector, rather than a dedicated weather mode. Not the best name, but I struggled to found another, that would be short enough :)

It's explained in more detail here:

small thing I noticed while doing a few end-to-end runs on Kassel - Würzburg last night.
On some tunnels the weather change fires just before you enter and not once the train is actually inside. There were a few visible instances of clouds jumping from 70 to 20%. It seems to only happen on the shorter tunnels - my guess is they’re right at the minimum tunnel length threshold (but still exceeding), so the trigger lands a but too early.

Would it be possible to bias the trigger point so the change always happens once you’re further inside, or maybe being closer to exiting then you are entering, even for tunnels that only just meet the threshold? And if it’s not a simple fix, I wondered whether any of it could be exposed on the player side instead - even just a toggle to turn tunnel weather changes off, or a way to tweak the length threshold or trigger offset so people can tune it to taste. Totally understand if that’s more trouble than it’s worth. :)

I will have a look, the trigger is already that you need to be at least 200meters from the tunnel entry.

What I imagine is going on, is that the annotations is intentionally activated before player reaches the entry point, to compensate for the players speed, so the annotation is fully shown when you reach the entry point.
And on high speed track, this might be over 200meters, so the app think 'well, I'm 200 meters from the entry point, time to update weather' :) I will get it sorted.

Sounds great, thank you - no rush!!

Will also take this post to shoot my shot on one day (hopefully) seeing customizable audio cues for weather changes? I have SOO many ideas for something like this that could work well within the app's current logistics. :D

Mainly for light rain you can't see on the windscreen but still get docked for not having wipers on. The app knows before you do, but only if you're watching the panel instead of the track ahead. Could be optional either way, so no harm if it's not for you. :)

Throwing driver realism out the window, being able to hear "a thunderstorm has been reported in the area" a minute or two before you see it transition in would be so neat for some of us weather nerds. Would be lovely if it's completely customizable as well so players can be creative with what they hear or how/when they hear it.

It's not something that is currently planned, but never say never.. But not until there is nothing to do on the weather side ;)

I understand some of the use-cases for the sound cues, but tbh, I feel it's once again the fallout of DTG not properly playtesting and updating their features. Penalizing player because he doesn't have the wipers on the moment the first drops fall is just wrong. IRL you don't turn the wipers on for just few drops on your windscreen, and even in drizzle cycling the wipers on-off for one swipe is normal. But in TSW, if you care about scoring, you have to keep the wipers on, even if the screen is mostly dry...

Very rarely had an audio cue for weather change in my over 29 years at sea or the last 30 years on a ranch… just look at the sky is enough for me… and for losing points for not having your wipers on…. In my book, not a deal breaker since action points really are not why I drive trains :) . But that is my opinion… I know others see it differently

Very good points - and yes, I agree it absolutely comes down to DTG fixing the scoring. Even in tunnels where it's okay to stop the wipers, the current system doesn't like that either haha. :P I try to ignore the points now as much as possible.

i never had a big minus score on the wipers penalty
maybe a few points but that is all
even if i turn them on to late
