Well there’s a bit of a dearth of UK Class types now, until we get to Page 170!

Wheels on the Class 66 and the Legends of Diesel locos on GWR resemble Catherine wheels.. wheels on carriages etc normal.. look like wheels. Not bothered to check if this is happening with other trains but I’ll check. Reported before but not addressed.

We still got class 165s, 166s and 168s so we're not in a dearth of UK class types.

Given that Claude is one of the reasons that hardware prices are through the roof that’s the least he could do to make amends!

Rumour at HQ has it that if this makes 5 years there’ll be a party to celebrate. Every attendee gets a ‘The Class 90 is fixed’ badge too… if it is. (This post is entirely satirical, not to be taken literally and so no feelings can be hurt).

That would be quite interesting to see - would you be able to share the prompts?

Most of the changes in the popular one are in the pak file, but you can just upload the ini file and the godmode.sav to Claude (I used Sonnet 4.6 - but Sonnet 5 is available now), throw it a link to the mod webpage so it can read the docs and tell it your system specs and tell it to improve and enhance the existing data to tune it to your system. Simple as that. I took the beast mode file and used that as a baseline. If you have a trash system though, you're probably not going to get any results. I found that his settings on beast weren't aggressive enough and running it through an agent analysis solved all remaining problems I had. Moreover, I finally eliminated all stuttering by not using any 3rd party mods and just doing it on my own. The Dynamic Hud Mod was the biggest culprit, because I believe he's recompiled his own UE4SS.dll and shipped it to make his mod work. It introduced all sorts of issues for me, not least of all that he installs his UE4SS.dll in the base win64 folder (when it should maintain the UE4SS folder structure of win64/ue4ss/mods. So if you've got another mod that requires you to install UE4SS you might actually have two versions running, his and the stock UE4SS install. Either way, he's using the UE4.26 script hook which was introducing stuttering. Removing his mod and ensuring my mods did not make any script calls on that hook removed all microstutters. Be careful with mods, because half of the time the "modders" are flying by the seat of their pants without real understanding of the changes they're making.

But if those "modders" had not produced their "mods" in the first place, you wouldn't have had anything to give to Claude and burn 8.1 jiggawatts and an entire reservoir in the process to eliminate your stutter in the first place would you?

A touch ironic really to say modders don’t know what they’re doing while using an LLM to do everything because they clearly don’t know what they’re doing.

As we no longer have the thread in Off Topic to talk about other games, thought I would give a quick shout out in here...

Simrail gets its next route DLC/extension next Thursday, the Lodz North Region. According to the description this includes some extensive single track running (and despatching!) and sounds like it will be a tad more scenic than the existing routes. Still electric though, no diesel locos or DMU's (yet).

SimRail - The Railway Simulator: Łódź North Region on Steam

Price not listed yet but reasonable to assume in the same range as previous i.e. £10.99. Even if it's a little more, still great value for another 140km of route on the network. Day One purchase for me, particularly now the single player save game is working moderately well.

How do you find Simrail compared to TSW?

Each has their appeal, as do TSC and Run 8.

But I've just come off a 40 minute session continuing a passenger scenario from Katowice to Warsaw, with an EU07 loco hauled train. The experience was super smooth, no judders or pauses and the sounds of the traction - wondrous to listen to, smooth as silk and no squelching. When you engage the shunt regulator to push a bit more power you hear and can almost feel the extra intensity of the traction.

Now due to using a slower train than the suggested one and a number of little surprises the scenario throws at you, I'm not going to get much if any XP for it. But then I can choose to run it again at a different time of day and something a bit faster. And all that is in singleplayer, without delving into the MP side of things.
