Unfortunately I doubt it. If we regard the history of mainstream train simming as starting with MSTS 25 years ago, there has only been one commercial payware Irish route for any of the games - and that was the Belfast to Dublin Enterprise for MSTS. I would love to see an Irish (North or South) route, any era (though classic CIE/NIR preferred) in TSW but accept it will probably never happen.
All one track routes in the middle of nowhere with boring timetables and no replay value. It´s like three Tadami lines in other countries.
The main problem with the OG MSTS routes was that the Kuju route builders didn’t quite grasp how the prototype works. So we had some ridiculous gradients on Marias and of course the infamous Cutbank syndrome when physics forces built up in the train and derailed if you had more than about six miles between point or crossing nodes. Then Settle & Carlisle had less than suitable rolling stock as Flying Scotsman was hardly typical of the line. Even the later added Class 50 wasn’t quite appropriate. On the NEC, trains had a tendency to derail on curves even if below the speed limit. I do think a modernish Arlberg could be quite nice and would be a good stamping ground for the several OBB items we already have in game, plus something new.
But, I must admit, 25 years of MSTS would be a nice reason to bring the OG routes to TSW - man thinking about it I still can feel the infinite excitement from the store to the installation on the family PC I had, when I bought the game and finally been able to drive a train.
Speaking for myself I want a UK route that comes stacked with full driving turns, a selection of different types of service from freight, to express and semi-fast to inner-city stoppers. Electric, based anytime since the 80s, not in the NW or a section of the WCML. So that leaves plenty of options around the UK, but mostly on mainlines into the Capital.
As we’ve said previously, Great Eastern out of The Street any era (but preferably pre 1999) has that covered, depending how far DTG take it - Colchester at a minimum, though through to Clacton and Walton would be even better!

To be honest I don't think you can really go wrong even with pre-2020, as that still allows for loco-hauled services with the 86 and 90, as well as a decent variety of EMUS (360s, 315s, 170s, 150s, more that I am probably missing) depending on the year. I'd like to personally see when you had a mix of 86 and 90 diagrams though.
I think anything other than present day would make a very interesting route. I think it'd be such a waste to see the route made, only for them to include today's near-silent EMUs.
I'm from Italy so I didn't have a preferred route on the classic 3 nation we usually see in game but, this time, I'd like to have more new trains that new route. I know this sounds a bit strange but I can see a lack of new trains (the last route published had always the same trains) and for me, this must be air priority now! Obviously, if we had 3 new route I didn't disagree with their choice and I'll buy the new game just to support, as I did every year but, maybe someday something changes and, with a remastered route, we can have 2/3 new trains
I understand that the new PM has moved the capital north to Manchester. About time too. If so, there are indeed lots of interesting routes in and out of that city.
London Midland though, we need a rest from that region as they're leading all the others by at least 10 routes.
If you want a Low Definition sample of what a Liverpool St to Clacton run in a Class 309 would be like, here's a cab ride video from the Summer of 1989. At the time the 321s were replacing 302s, 305s, 307s, 308s and 310s so for a few months it was a amazing line to travel on, you'd have no idea what would turn up. Ultimately services beyond Colchester wouldn't see Class 321s until the 30 allocated to the Cambridge line transferred across as Class 317s on came to the West Anglia late in 1991/92. I know it would be totally impossible for any developer to base the route in July 1989 (when I started working for British Rail) and include the full roster of rolling stock but....we can dream. Hey Just Trains, fancy a pint in Colchester some time?
If we do get a 321 will we be picking up Dusty Bins at the stations? Can we also have the route tutorial delivered in the style of impenetrably cryptic riddles?
And when it needs explaining at the end everyone must respond "It was obvious now you think about it". When, it really wasn't. Ah the things we used to watch when our media choice was 4 TV channels, 8 official radio stations or (in London at least) a couple of dozen pirate radio stations sharing equally impenetrably cryptic instructions on how to get to this weekend's rave.
I will just talk about USA routes for now but think we probablly get another MBTA NJT NY route or they go back to California ...But would like to see something new like something in Florida CSX Tri Rail Miami West Palm beach..SunRail CSX Sanford Orlando.. Bright Line FEC..Marias Pass BNSF Burlington Northern ..or a RETRO Santa FE route with warbonnet GP60m s B40 8 Ws.. Raton pass the mainline in Arizona etc or maybe a NS CSX freight route or CPKC CN rocky mountain scenery route
Ha, yes, I should have mentioned that at the time only the early batch of 312s were set to move (to the LTS) thanks to the introduction of the 317s and 321s. The remaining 312s would survive the sliding door revolution and continue to provide the GEML reliable service for another 16 years.
North-East without CactusJuice involved make me nervous. So let's think it will be somewhere else, or they learn how to make fully functional bugless signaling. At the same time, they will fix it on NYT by releasing a remaster. By the way, NYT Remaster as core route, Acela is deluxe train. Free for owners. It worked with SEHS too.
if we get sth Austria/Vienna-oriented, pls give us proper 1016/1116 (with proper LZB this time, pls) + dostos + dosto cab car (either in Wiesel or CityJet livery)... those are on virtually any mainline in Austria... Desiro ML as a staple of regional services... and if you wanna go modern, 4736 and its variants aka Stadler KISS 160... RailJet would be a dream tho (an expert RailJet would be an instant o...... of many a train fan here lol)
Thinking about a US route for TSW7, I would like some part of the Cascades route. Prefer Vancouver South, but really any section is fine if it includes the Siemens Amtrak Airo trainset. Then again, these routes were all decided many moons ago, so we're all just whistling Dixie.
Feel like US wise, the Northeast is still the safe option, but the lack of help from Brandon will question how good a new route from there will be, even if its something thats heavily requested like the Hudson Line for example.
It probably won’t because that was a mainly fictional line and TSW players want their routes to be very close to the real thing. DTG would have trouble getting good enough reference material to make it to the expected standard. No DTG staff will be snooping around the NY Subway taking thousands of photos as they don’t want to be indefinitely detained on suspicion of terrorism.
For tsw7, Hudson line would actually be my guess too. Highly requested for a long time. For a future dlc/iteration, remaster ny trenton and extend it by adding north jersey coast line to it.
Unless of course they have reached a rapprochement with MTA and this could indeed be the big surprise of the Direct reveals. A NYC Subway route(s) for the US, for the UK either the complete Northern Line network or the Met from Aldgate to Amersham, Uxbridge and Watford. And for Germany the much requested Berlin S-Bahn, either Ringbahn, Heart or preferably both. Now all of those together might just be worth a £65 or £70 Day One purchase.
MR was made in UE5 with Lumen for the lighting. If they do that subway line in TSW, they have to do all the light baking by hand, which is a huge job. After doing the light baking on the London Underground, they don't seem to do such a job again, which I can understand. In the last livestream (Nurnberg - Inglostadt route), tunnel light baking was also mentioned as a terrible job to do.
For the NYC subway, see my post above. I don't see them doing Berlin S-Bahn, way to busy, I can already smell the blurry textures and performance issues coming in from miles away. Nothern should be very well possible, there was already leaked something and there is not much Northern in game anyway. It's also one of the most beautiful parts of the UK, so I hope they choose a nice scenic line. A new scenic Transport for Wales line would be nice too, maybe not for the base game, but as DLC.
I was referring to the London Tube Northern Line! High Barnet, Edgware and Mill Hill East to Morden either via Charing Cross or the City Line. Though I don’t honestly see that happening unless they have overcome their aversion to light baking. Also if Rivet are again the 2P doing the UK route, not sure I want them touching it!
Thanks for the clarification, I'm not from the UK so those names don't ring a bell for me. I also don't see them doing another tube route, unless they switch to UE5, which doesn't mean I want them to switch to UE5. Maybe after the release of new consoles which can handle UE5 with ease, it's time to switch, but not right now.
Just as a point of note, and it may be completely irrelevant. But when you add a Class 377/3 in scenario planner on London to Brighton, it announces the stations south of Victoria to wherever you're going. Therefore all of those stations were captured as audio files. Whether that means a relayering to allow the updated 377s on the route, or points to a future remaster, unsure. But it's a bit of wild speculation, it's also great to run on the L2B route at the mo with proper train announcements.
Maybe they aren't captured/recorded, but just AI created for all destinations in game. Something like the destination bords on trains having a lot of destinations included. .
Possibly but the 377/4 and 313 only has a select few stations such as London Vic, East Croydon, Gatwick, Redhill, Haywards Heath and Brighton. The other superior voice has every single southern station. The current BML 377 and 387 does not support announcements on train so maybe it’s coming as a patch or a remaster is all I’m wondering
I will personally spam Iarnród Eireann if it meant you'd do some work in Ireland. We even have Japan now! Just turn that gauge up to 1600 I'm sure it's all just that simple Honestly I will personally travel the length and breadth of the country for references for any dev brave enough to attempt Ireland!
