Just watched the TSS YT clip and he suggests a possible link with Gamescon, albeit neither DTG or TSW are exactly on a footing with GTA6 etc.

I've never understood the point of those ridiculous countdowns.

    NO WAY
(EDIT: FALSE ALARM, NOT FOR TSW7)
    maciej-gorszczyk-lokaleuzytkoweilkley-01.png
its an asset for Ilkley station on artstation, the description reads its for a "rail simulation project" which could be TSW7

This is a different asset to the one in TS Classic, not a perfect screenshot, but you can tell its different!

    image-28.png

The northern 333 leak, the Ilkley asset...

This is all adding up to Airedale and Wharfdale lines!

    WAIT A SEC...

the asset is made with unity, NOT UNREAL ENGINE.

    What the hell is this?

Pretty much confirms it then. Screenshot taken before the mod hammer comes down. Still on the fence about it of course as Leeds/Bradford/Ilkley/Skipton would be a good network, but the 158 will be wasted if we don’t go to Carlisle. It also depends who is doing the 333 in particular the sounds. I couldn’t take another audio abomination like the 385 - I would rather listen to SimRail’s buzzing CD 163!

Now looking at it, it might be harder to explain than I thought.

the asset used is with a totally different game engine. Not the one used in TSW, but for simrail...

But...there are currently no routes in simrail that are British...

What the hell could be the meaning of this?

so, turns out the asset was posted May 2025, too early for TSW7

    FALSE ALARM FALSE ALARM!

Focus Entertainment, Dovetails parent company iirc, are an exhibitor at GamesCon - could be related to DTG needing to push their Direct to allow other focus IP to shine in the limelight?

Turns out, the Ilkley asset is actually for a real life train simulation software, and not even a game...

    Screenshot_20260819_121931_Discord.jpg

it is available to book for those wanting to give it a go...

Looks like i got fooled hard...DAMN YOU SIMFACTOR!! :D

I bet DTG are loving reading all this as much as I am.

I’m surprised they’re not hyping us up for it now as it’s so close but MrSouthernDriver is doing it for them, you might see yourself hired as the new community manager if you keep this up :)

Stand down then... though given the comments TSS showed from Lucazone (Skyhook) on his clip with delight about a Northern 158, the Leeds Local still 2/1 favourite at Vern's bookies. Though as I said previously, not going to Carlisle would be a travesty and if, as suspected, the Northern 158 is the Deluxe train DLC it's a bit of a cheap shot making that a reskin rather tan something entirely new.

Out of curiosity Vern, how much further is Carlisle from the speculated route? From what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem to have a logical end point? I wish they’d just attempt to do full routes rather than snippet after snippet over various time periods. It’s all a bit inconsistent

Please beware that sharing leaks can cost you you're access to the forums. You are searching for everything to found a clue but it's shared last year that showing leaks or things that are not public are prohibited here on the forums. It's not my decision but i think they have show you already that sharing stuff isn't allowed by removing this stuff.

Skipton is a logical endpoint as that's where the electrification ends. Extending it to Carlisle would make the main line around 4.5x as long - previous iterations of Settle to Carlisle line have been exactly that, not including the Leeds end.

Oh, so are those really ‘leaks’ if he’s showing screenshots from the Steam database, where they’re publicly visible to everyone??

We’ve known for a year now that TSW 7 is coming out; what DTG is getting up to in this forum is just childish!
DTG is deleting posts containing images that anyone else can see on Steam too – why is DTG doing that? Because, in my view, these aren’t real leaks.

How come other leaks havent been deleted then?

They may not like it, but DTG simply CANNOT HIDE TSW7 any longer. It's INEVITABLE.

steam and epicdb are available for all the public to access, its not rocket science.

and eitherway, I could care less about what DTG may do to me for these sort of leaks. If they're scummy enough to not fix broken things in this game, I'm sure they can handle this

    :)

What they simply dont understand is that the community knows A LOT MORE than they think, theyve turned themselves incredibly predictable.

Don’t shoot the messenger, that’s my advice… I also think it’s a bit pointless to act like ‘it’s not allowed.’ If something truly concrete exists, it will come out anyway. So you won’t hear a bad word from me, but I think DTG has made it pretty clear that they don’t tolerate anything being shared.

And if you look at what has been removed, it’s pretty clear that anything related to TSW7 has been taken down and those are direct hints toward the new version of the game. The other things are too vague and have no direct link to TSW7; they’re purely speculation.

You're putting 2 different cases in one pile.
Internal leaks from a person, who signs the paper of not doing this.
And a regular data mining, which isn't illegal, because it take place on public build.

Also "normal" devs at first announce something, and only then add data to marketplaces(like Steam).

No that's also not allowed here on the forums. They have removed already diffrent postst with such data mining information.

I understand that DTG wants to keep the forum inclusive for everyone, and not everyone wants to find out through a leak what’s going to be presented. Right now, some people are avoiding the forum because too many of these things are being shared. It may seem fun to discuss this kind of stuff, but there’s also a group that doesn’t like it and doesn’t want to know anything in advance and they don’t really stand a chance this way.

That’s why, for example, I would suggest having a separate forum section for these kinds of things as a solution.

Just catching up on this thread.

I'll be beyond hyped if LIRR Port Jefferson line ends up being the US route!

What can I say, I'm an East Coast guy- I'll never say no to more NYC content

I’d have hoped for something SWR, not too sure that Northern route is for me as it seems to be quite niche. I’d have rather had something a bit more express but they’re never going to appease everyone I suppose. I’m genuinely quite interested to see what they serve up.

Not being one to just complain for the sake of it, it does need to be said that DTG can't say that the title isn't just and annual cash grab - at least not with a straight face. That said, I do have all the iterations of TWS, and most of the DLC too - with the same for the other main train titles. Game breaking bugs that have been in-game for over 5 years on some routes, routes rushed out with brand new bugs and basically the same game year after year - with an extra cherry on top, to keep us sweet - means that long time fans that are still buying this title do so more from habit/misplaced loyalty/hope of improvement, than genuinely needing another iteration of a title that's barely changed since TSW2. I'm enjoying 'Running Train' right now, and 'OxyRail' just for a bit of fun, and am in no way in a hurry to welcome TSW7.
Then again, I've been saying that about every iteration since TSW3, so maybe I'm in the category of 'permanently disappointed, but foolish enough to buy it again'. A category I suspect to have quite a high population. I can say with confidence though, that the moment a rail title appears, that can be serious competition for TSW, DTG will witness a mass exodus and the fault will be all theirs. Thing is, will they even care at this point, having raked it in for years now? I doubt it.

I would say this, facts, LIRR extended is the route with the most branches, most complete end to end services by far from any other DLC in the game :)

If LIRR is indeed the US content, let’s hope it’s without bugs and route hopping available from release and not this pathetic, feeble excuse of it didn’t make it to release. Take note DTG, days of releases not being fit for purpose need to be over, released routes and dlc should have all the bells and whistles! The era of excuses and let downs stay with TSW6 if they’re carried over into TSW7 then heads should roll and it’s time your management sorted it once and for all!!!

Yeah, isn’t it sad that we expect DLC to be full of bugs, should there be another competitor, they would never behave or release content in the condition they do!

It will be modern(3 tracks to Hicksville) and all scenery will be replaced and not reused AGAIN from original LIRR.

Because ENOUGH, DTG. Listen, if you're going to do a LIRR extension, STOP using the old sections up to Jamaica - they're ugly, outdated, and scenery is wrong.

if the data comes from steamdb or the game's public files, then it's not a leak, because it's public
that is completely different from someone who signed an NDA disclosing non-public content

I may have found the root cause for why DTG is scheduling the direct so late.

Gamescom is on the same day. And DTG are not only participants, but also FEATURED

    Screenshot_20260819_151727_Chrome.jpg

Maybe they will reveal TSW7 here too?

I don't see those as leaks. When you update/uplaod your steam-entries it's to be expected they show up on the public databases, so you kind of agree this information to be public. Can't delete steamdb :)

The definition of a leak is putting something into the public domain that otherwise is not there. It is in the public domain already. I agree with you, Nobody has leaked anything. And even if it was, let’s get a sense of perspective, it’s hardly the nuclear codes is it. Incidentally in case anybody didn’t know they were 12 “0s” up until the mid 80s. People are clever they can put two and two together quite easily.

On the other hand it is absolutely within their gift to call discussing it a breach of their terms etc and there are commercial considerations too on announcements etc, but it’s NOT a leak.

    Wait, it doesnt add up.

Gamescom begins at 7pm BST, and at the most will go on for 2 hours...

Meaning the direct would begin right after gamescom ends at 9pm...

not to mention, DTG at gamescom will only have a 5 minute window, a very short time.

What could they possibly announce in 5 minutes?

I saw somewhere that it’s already pre-recorded so all they do is hit the play button after Gamescon ends. I don’t believe Dovetail Direct is a live event and wonder if they’ll disappear for the evening? That would explain why it’s been pushed back because they’re busy at Gamescon, in which case, why not have Direct the day before and ride the wave of hype at the Gamescon event? It’s all a bit odd, unless they decide to reveal at said event, that and what they’re doing with Wonders of Sodor?

It’s quite a way, about 90 miles albeit much of that distance is through rugged and empty terrain. So it would be a bit too much to expect. Previous efforts at the Settle & Carlisle have started either at Settle (MSTS and TSC) or Skipton (Trainz). However nothing to say there couldn’t be a follow on route with hopping between the two at Skipton. Though I do think the S&C would be better done in an earlier era, before the Sprinters took over.

I think it's as simple as Gamescom is a huge deal and will be their top priority.

All DTG have to do is hit a button to publish the Direct, so makes sense to me to wait until Gamescom is over.

It's not a livestream so the time doesn't really matter that much imo.

Maybe as a compromise Settle/Giggleswick would be a good northern end if it is the Airedale. This would give the 158s a bit f their own run.

    Yes, unfortunately that’s the case.
Dovetail Direct has always been a pre-recorded programme; unfortunately, it has never been a live stream.
And DTG knows exactly why they do it that way.

DTG has removed earlier posts with stuff thas was public (steamDB) so the answer is no i guess so this types of things are not welcome here. Its not my point of view but from DTG

I like the idea of having a separate area for speculation and stuff to be honest - rather like railforums does. I freely admit I love speculation and reading and writing some myself joining dots together and trying to work stuff out, but appreciate not everybody does

If anyone is interested, you can look at the before and current of the US rail network. To be fair, US railroads didn't like running passenger services themselves. https://rail.guide/#11.34/40.7345/-74.1237

It's also a matter of geography and demographics. Population density plummets as you go west across the country.

From roughly I-35 (think of a line going north-northeast from Mexico through Laredo, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Des Moines, and Minneapolis) to the I-5 corridor (SD, LA, SF, Portland, Seattle), intercity rail will probably never be economically feasible even if our car culture completely changed.

The section from Sunnyside Yard to Jamaica, Jamaica to Hicksville, and Atlantic Terminal Is sooooo bad! Comparing those sections to the Long Beach Branch is astonishing how different they look. You can take a look out the window and not even a football fields length away in some places you can see empty grass fields and hills! The Railroad bridges over Interstate 678 look god awful and 678 has lanes of traffic that go against each other like a regular street road! Don’t get me started on the ultra shiny assets that make the route look like a model train set. And that old TSW 2020 ballast, ew… i could go on and on..

One prediction I'm confident about is that none of the UK routes will be set in GBR livery.
Not only does it appear the GA version was slightly different (and therefore suggests there's still uncertainty about how it will be applied to other trains) but the roll-out is starting to look like it will be painfully slow.

Almost a roll over too at Lewes. Not sure whether 387172 will be out for a while

Will the 5 minutes from DTG at Gamescom be "tune in on our YouTube channel following this broadcast to see our direct"?

Presumably the 5 mins will be them intro-ing, then the cinematic clip you get during of all DTDs. Then the stream will show it again and after that they'll start talking in more detail.

It's going to be nice to watch a presentation that isn't "AI, AI, AI, AI, AI, AI, AI, AI, AI, AI, AI, AI" I suppose.
