Dtg Direct Summer 2026?

To be honest I'd just be happy to have weather that was ok, not changing from one extreme to the other along a route but also being able to see things without a nuclear flash reflecting off everything from ballast to carriages and locomotives (see attached examples, and that was without rain).

It'd also be nice to have wet ballast and not shiny ballast when it rains, I must admit it does get a bit boring just playing on clear weather every time :/

 

It's almost as if there are other regions in the US that AREN'T the northeast that DTG could tap into, especially since signaling in said regions outside of the US would be much more easier to program.

 

There just isn't as much passenger traffic in North America outside the NEC except commuter lines that run similar to the Metrolink and MBTA stuff.

Freight focused routes would be busier. But then there is the argument that they don't do NA freight justice when they come out with a Freight route. Oh and also they say it doesn't sell as well as passenger routes.

 

As I mentioned before, TSW really can’t beat Run 8. After I dropped in the Modesto to Fresno section on SoCal the other week, I did a fresh update of the “Very Populated” session from The Depot. That dropped in nearly 1400 individual consists across the whole 700+ miles of route, whether through trains waiting to be driven away by player or AI, cars waiting at industries to be picked up and sorted or inbound manifests waiting to be broken down into locals and spotted at the industry sites. Just trying to organise the industrial park at Modesto has taken me four hours of gameplay and not all the spurs are cleared yet.

I just can’t see DTG ever accomplishing that in TSW. Though if, as rumoured, we are getting a bit more of LIRR maybe they should attempt a retro version of the Bushwick branch. I stumbled across it when doing research for potential Trainz routes (never happened sadly) and it was packed with industry spurs and sidings in a relatively short distance, about 4 miles I think. Could make a fascinating switching puzzle style route.

As regards passenger ops, well yes sadly unless DTG are prepared to overcome their timidity and try to go for a Donald J Trump type “deal” with some of the urban operators, we are not going to break the mould. If NYC won’t play ball re the Subway, have they tried Toronto or Montreal? Have they talked to San Diego Trolley or the Calgary C Train. Have they said, “Hey we know you are uneasy about this, but how about 10% of the take is donated to a charity of your choice?” As I said, I’m sure a deal is there to be made, with a bit of work to find the sweet spot.

 

To be honest, I would like DTG to actually patch up the game, remaster a lot of routes, and prioritize focus on fixing bugs and putting details into little things of the game, I think that would actually make the game more enjoyable for the community.

 

I, too, strongly desire a fix for this.
It is certainly not a pleasant experience to run over people with the train every time I play.

In the worst cases—regardless of whether I'm in Scenario or Timetable mode—passengers sometimes end up plastered against the driver's cab window while the train is moving; it is absolutely awful.
I find it questionable that the manufacturer offers no response, even when the issue is reported in the thread.

 

One of my favorite routes in Trainz is Toronto Rail Lands, which is basically just Toronto and the surrounding stations. It worked well on its own as a basic route though just because the yards were so massive there back then. It was only about four miles, but there was so many random sidings you could see and use if you really wished.

A bit funny since it's Canadian, just like Oakville, which is basically the only shunting focused route in TSW. If DTG were more ambitious do a 50's to 70's take on Toronto or some other city with extensive yards would be a great change of pace.

It goes back to how unanimous DTG are though, there's a lot of really interesting areas they could do even with limited route lengths. But they prefer doing $40, 40 mile A to B runs with nothing in between constantly. And even third parties aren't much better, I like the two TSG routes I have, but undeniably they're also A to B runs you get the jest of after four or five hours. There's a reason I've played so much Railroader this year over TSW, that game is just so much more engaging since the line they depict has so much going on.

(That and it doesn't handhold you as much as TSW frankly)

I Couldn't agree more, Whenever I'm in free roam, after like 30 mins i the game would just stop working and crash on my Playstation, And This game is supposedly to be all about freedom to play how you want it...

Subway Sim 2 - for all it's faults - recently added passengers running for the train. It really helps with immersion when you pull up halfway down the platform and the passengers all run for the train, rather than sauntering down the platform with all the time in the world like in TSW.

 

i know only he know the best for the us community, and he actually know how the signaling system in the US Work. Edit After reading a reply to this i did not know that he was that kind of person. i am sure there must be more reason to this like another user said there have to be a two side story to this. We do not the full picture of what happen.

 

The timings shown on Youtube surely can’t be correct. It says it starts at 20:00 UTC (21:00 BST) which seems very late but the countdown starts at 17:00 (18:00 BST). Surely we aren’t getting a countdown clock for 3 hours.

Unfortunately, though, that’s just how it’s going to be.
I don’t understand what DTG were thinking with all this, because in my view it’s definitely not community-friendly.

 

Yeah i can only admit that. For a larger scale of younger users is this to late. Holiday is over so they have to go to school the next day or people have to go to work early is this not a very pleasant time. We have never before a DTG direct or other DTG content at this time point.

 

Initially I thought they made a mistake with timezones conversions but it seems they set that time just not to release it while the GamesCon event is live.

 

Gamescom is until 7pm so there is no real relation between them i guess.... So they could be way earlier.
I had also an email with a reminder about DTG direct including the times.

TSW3 had a 24 hour countdown video with teasers in it. I think we’ve got off lightly with just 3 hours.

 

Are DTG even at GameCon? Can’t see them on the exhibitor’s list?

 

They don't have a booth so far i see when i search.

 

IIRC Lukas said they were going in the german preview stream for their new route.

Whilst 9pm BST is an odd time to start, they have probably decided to do it this way so everyone (or at least a good amont of people) around the world can watch at the same time. 9pm BST is 2pm EST & 1pm PST

 

last year, DTG basically went "eff it" and announced TSW6 a month before Dovetail Direct.. I can briefly remember the countdown to TSW3

 

9PM is a bit late and unusual. It’s also a shame for those who are in bed at that time for work the next day. Then they have to go and work before they can come home and watch the direct fully…I’m sure there will be some users on here that will be doing that…

It’s probably not going to be that spectacular anyway. But it’s still always nice to watch it while it’s happening. Says me anyway lol.

They are just doing it later so it doesn’t clash with Gamescom’s opening night event. There will be people who will want to watch both. I’m not one of them as I’m only interested in TSW and don’t care about gaming in general.

 

i’ll be one of those people who won’t be able to sit down and watch it at 9pm tomorrow; part of me is tempted to completely stay off youtube, forums and discord until wednesday evening when i’ll be able to watch it in full. however, i also acknowledge that i don’t have that sort of restraint, so i do also suspect i’ll be here this time tomorrow

 

Yeah that’s a good point and like yourself I’m not that interested in Gamescom neither. Most games aren’t that exciting nowadays lol.

 

same.. apart from the TSW games, the only other game I have properly played is Minecraft. I would love to play the Spider-man games by Insomniac Games but they are PS & PC exclusives and I'm on Xbox

 

Maybe they will do it differently and start with a summary at the start for those of us who like to be in bed by 2230!
