I wonder if they’ll decide to break into the UK sim market at some point and fulfill the Tory dream of making the railways competitive

There is a damn good chance that the Chinese route may be announced

Sorry but other than the one reference the evidence for a Chinese route is entirely circumstantial. We have had no indication there are any Asian 3P's other than UW who, as previously discussed, are mired down trying to sort out whatever has gone wrong with Tadami. And if they are somehow involved (another team perhaps) their Chinese routes for TSC were not that great.

Actually, TSW5 native DLC would work on TSW4 and TSW5 DLC can and will work on TSW6 just by dragging and dropping. I have screenshots somewhere of WCML:S running on TSW4. The only thing that won’t work is trying to take a TSW6 DLC back into TSW5 because of the random failure system.

Train Sim Classic was 10 years old when TSW was first announced. TSW is now 10 years old. So I would not be surprised if DTG announce a new train simulator game with an all new engine and everything in addition to announcing TSW 7. Remember, TSC continued to get updates and new DLC even after TSW was a thing. So it's entirely possible DTG announce a new Train simulator game to be released in 2027 while continuing to support and release TSW content. Especially since a lot of third parties are getting heavily involved in TSW now, and coincidently that was the same situation TSC was facing in 2016 in terms of third parties being more involved in new content than DTG.

    2 days to go.

In 48 hours, this is going to get interesting.

Am I the only one who notices that DTG have been unusually quiet for the direct?

No tweets or anything announced reminding people that the direct is soon...even the mods here have been incredibly quiet...its odd.

    Somethings off.

I guess thats their ultimate plan, just dont say anything ;)

Seems like the TSS video i was featured in with all the leaks forced their silence to come in.

I am actually getting a feeling of dread and foreboding, the closer it gets. The complete lack of any official teasers, the weird timing of the Direct video presentation. Something is up. I definitely feel more like the condemned man on execution morning, waiting for the hangman to enter the cell “This way, lad”, than an excited child on Christmas morning seeing their pile of presents under the Tree! Ho, ho ho.

Maybe they’re shutting up shop and selling the IP to Rivet or one of the other third parties :o

Okay, it's starting to feel like the hyperbole is running away with this place!

DTG have been putting various little bits and pieces out across socials. There was a three day reminder email that went out yesterday too. To my knowledge, they never obviously tease anything major before the countdown begins on YouTube, but having said that, they reposted something on Instagram about BML yesterday, so who's to say that isn't something loaded?

In the end of the day it's a series of announcements about the year ahead for a video game franchise - no-one is dying, so try to be kind to yourselves and give your collective blood pressures a rest

Worried about what though, something you were never buying anyway?!

I thought all this doom and gloom, no more TSW that’s what people wanted to teach DTG a lesson because of [insert reason]

I, on the other hand I’m looking forward to whatever is announced, TSW6 has been a staple of mine and have been playing it more than ever the last few months.

Well I am on their mailing list and never received anything. And while there has been plenty of discussion on a third party FB page, I can’t recall seeing anything much on the official one. We know that deep down they probably want to scrap this forum entirely, but while it exists it should be included within their communication channels.

    I have a reason.
    And then there are these – A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, etc. – which are faulty and will never be updated.
But we were still expected to pay for them.

Oh FFS, has everyone around here lost their sense of humour? It was a bit of ironic whimsy. As regards whether I buy it or take the free update, well that depends entirely on what DTG are trotting out in the content pack. At least two out of the three (assuming there are three) need to be iconic routes which based on the speculation so far is a bit on the fence.

My two cents, if they're gonna announce a new train sim it makes more sense to do so at Gamescom than at a dedicated DTG event. They'd want more eyes on it than at a traditional DTG event to drive more users toward it, since it's a more expensive, hopefully more impressive showing. That would explain the need to have the DTG event after it, to both go more into detail, and explain all the items they don't want clouding up the main event. Let's be honest, the people at Gamescom would probably find a rehash of TSW for the 7th time pretty unremarkable. And in fact kind shows a lack of confidence in their new product feeling the need to spotlight it alongside the new one.

For what it's worth, I hope I'm wrong, because as is I have no desire to buy a new train sim from DTG, certainly not at launch given how bad TSW is many years in. Heck, I got in "early", and I still missed the first year and a half of growing pains, and got it for was less than full price. Honestly is anywhere here gonna be that thrilled to start a new collection from scratch? Even the TSW devoted have made it pretty clear that their collection's persistence is why they stick with it. I see a new sim going the way of Flight Sim World in the current climate, I honestly think committing to TSW until at least the launch of 10th gen consoles is the better way to go.

The main reasonnTSW is approaching end of life is not so much the game itself (though DTG’s inability to code their way through the numerous issues plays its part) but the fact it is awash with so much similar content, that simply isn’t worth paying £30 for each time to get broadly the same experience.

So if it is a new sim alongside a last chance annual TSW update, then they really need a new act both in terms of the gameplay and the type of content they offer. In some ways, it’s a shame they parted company with CTS as aside from the growing pains detailed in the now deleted section of the forum, it now seems to be expanding and adding buses. If they had nurtured that game, would have been the ideal platform on which to develop a more Metro/Transit side of rail simulation, not to mention the various tram routes we would like to see at some point.

Has anyone considered that after the class 333 leak that Leeds to Doncaster could possibly be a future UK route not least the UK core route?

It’s a possibility, though would be a short boring drive to be honest. Other than the rumoured Leeds/Bradford network another good shout for a West/North Yorkshire DLC would have been a Harrogate circular, Leeds to York via Harrogate with also Leeds to York via Church Fenton.

Perhaps they would add the Doncaster to York section as well as the York to Leeds section for the Northern 158 with the TPE class 185 as the deluxe loco.

The problem against it being Doncaster to Leeds instead is that whilst the 333s do do the stoppers on this line now, they didn't at the time the Peterborough Doncaster timetable is set. Personally I would've thought having the timetable match up as closely as possible (so people can run a LNER service on one half then find it easily on the other to carry on.) (Of course an IC225 deluxe loco that also adds a newer Peterborough Doncaster timetable solves this)

Not to mention that Northern 158 model that leaked had three coaches, which also makes no sense for Doncaster Leeds

Well we don't absolutely know for certain as it's still based on circumstantial evidence. But when you think of all the iconic and interesting sections left to build in the UK, the LAMPOIL must have burned very low if this was the choice. Actually putting my tinfoil hat on, bearing in mind we didn't get a DTG Q2 release this year (like Glossop, Goblin Line or the Cardiff abomination) I wonder if this was originally intended for that slot - which it would have filled admirably - but instead got pushed back to be the main event due to the lack of UK production capacity?

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Riviera line, even as a fellow Northern this speculated route doesn’t really appeal at all. Undoubtedly it will for some, were DTG this quiet in the weeks leading up to Direct? I feel like we had a lot more hype last time??

No not last year where they revealed earlier in the year that TSW 6 was coming before direct.

Sorry to hear that you were not a fan of the Riviera line. As a fellow Northerner, I absolutely loved that route and it was quite possibly my favourite UK core route. Not sure if the UK core route but it sounds like it's going to be a nonlinear Leeds commuter route which could be interesting. If I'm wrong and the line to Skipton is there, it could possibly open the door to a future Settle to Carlisle route!

Would love that as the TS Classic version was one of my favourite routes! Hopefully it would go all the way to Waterloo Ike the later TS Classic version unlike the original that was cut off at Woking.

I was thinking that. They could use the 801 333 and class 91 as a deluxe locomotive.

Leeds-Doncaster is very short. You'd want to include York as well. maybe as a triangular route.

I was thinking this too with the class 185 as the deluxe loco if DTG have managed to get a TPE licence. As nice as the class 91 would be, it wouldn't offer as much service variety for this route as the class 185 would, with Leeds-York services and AI-only Cleethorpes services at Doncaster.

The hyperbole is always running away in this place. It is the same people with the same conspiracy theories who apparently aren't buying TSW because they are playing this sim or that sim instead. Then they suddenly pop-up with the new version or some new DLC which they seem to have done no research on and then either refund it or regret buying it, rinse and repeat.

I haven't been on this forum for over a week and I thought I would pop in as we are close to the new announcement, which I am interested in. It seems nothing changes and frankly I have enjoyed not seeing all the over the top posts from people who seem to have nothing better to do. How often do any of these conspiracy theories prove to be correct, a vanishingly small amount if at all, yet still they appear at pace.

There hasn’t been much on Facebook either and can’t say about Discord as I don’t use it. Perhaps they are so petrified even the slightest hint will be leaked, all the PR team are under some sort of “D Notice”. But that hardly helps in building positive anticipation amongst a largely jaded player base.

Maybe they are fed up the forums! They were closing them a few weeks ago.

Is the player base largely jaded, or just the vocal majority on here?

Just a musing, but it seems most people on the forum speculated that Metro Rivals was to be the test bed for a new Train Simulator game. However, that project was cancelled (seemingly suspected but fairly suddenly going by some posts by ex-developers) - are we suggesting that in the months since cancellation they've pivoted to such a extent they have a fully fledged Train Sim ready to go before GamesCon and us tomorrow?

Or, we they developing a new one this entire time and it had nothing to do with Metro Rivals?

I'm just not sure Focus being at GamesCon and the timing of Dovetail Direct is as related at people on the forum is suggesting. It could literally be anything from Focus being announced. Would GamesCon care enough about a 7th iteration of TSW? That seems unlikely.
