Really excited to see some new austrian content. I really hope we'll get a Highspeed Route in Austria some day so that we could fully use the power of the railjet

Yeah that would be amazing. The reason I don't think we'll get that is that this route uses ETCS and there hasn't been a proper implementation of that in the game. But that route would be so cool

What excites me the most is that finally Vorarlberg - one of my all time favourite routes - gets some well deserved love with the inclusion of the much needed long-distance services.

Anyway, I'm just glad for more Austrian content!

Yeah finally. Vorarlberg and Semmeringbahn were both really cool routes. But the missing Railjet made them boring over time.

What’s the situation with the cab car? Because the ÖBB 1116, 1st class, 2nd class, and bistro car were mentioned in the stream.

This... I have not played Voralberg yet because of timetable without proper long-distance services. I am very excited about RailJet.

Vorarlberg is one of my faves, glad the mythic Railjet is coming. Could it be coming to Salzburg, too? Semmeringbahn, probably yes, right? Maybe even with the new tunnel opened?

Really really nice to see that comes true. I personally thought the low amount of austrian routes in tsw was a dealbraker for a dev to go for an expert RJ. Glad i was wrong, seems the popularity of this train set will make it a good selling point.

    Day 1 for me anyway!

Also its the first Expert loco allowed up to 230 km/h.

I hope tsg takes the new manual coupling as standard feature for the entire expert line. Maybe included an update of the 101 on that.

I highly suppose the DLC "thinks" of the cab car as "the" Railjet, since the bullet point mentioning the 1116 and the cars starts with "also". If the traction and coaches are "also", then what else could the "main thing" be?

Kinda sad that the iconic Railjet will be an expert loco with a premium price tag that is only targeted at a very small amount of players. I don’t like this trend of taking highly requested stock and only releasing an expert loco that almost never gets a proper discount, effectively preventing large amounts of regular players from buying it. And we all know there will never be a big discount because of the 3rd party developer. We saw the same thing with the IC cab car.

If this was a regular loco add-on for about 20 Euros (considering all the included coaches etc.), it would surely be one of the most popular loco DLCs.

This might be worth as an expert product as it seems to add more stuff than previous Expert products did. The only recycled ish piece is the locomotive itself since we already had an EuroSprinter in OBB flavor and multiple in other flavors in german routes. If this would come with new timetables for both Semmering and Voralberg, and maybe show up in Rosenheim as well, it would be a purchase hard to argue against. Not sure if TSG has the capacity though to do all that without requiring us to pay a second time as per the 101 Expert gameplay pack for.

Honestly I don't think many PC players will buy this route since Railjet cab car is already in the eurofirma expansion mod

Of course, loads of people will buy this train!
After all, the Railjet available as a mod doesn’t have a working control car, and the Taurus isn’t an Expert locomotive either.

With this Railjet DLC, everyone will then be able to drive the Railjet, including those who play on consoles. That’s because they can’t use the Railjet mod.

And if there’s one thing you can expect from TSG, it’s simply the high quality of their DLCs.

Well DTG hat enough time to do this train so... I get what you mean but I think despite the expert price many people will buy this DLC, as it makes an appearance in Vorarlberg, Salzburg-Rosenheim and Semmering, so every austrian DLC released in TSW. And you get more then for example the Expert 101 pack, as the 101 already exists in the game ( I know it's a far worse loco but not everyone will prob. understand this) With the Railjet you get like a whole new trainset, with 1class coach, second class coaches and the restaurant car.

The cab car is of course included :)
I agree that the text was a bit confusing, but a Railjet without a cab car is on par with an ICE2 without a cab car, that would be ridiculous.

No Railjet cab car = no Railjet.

The potential this has to transform Voralberg really gets me excited. The route has some scenic issues sure, but the only thing that put me off it was the poor iteration of the 4024 & barebones timetable.

Of course the Railjet is really exciting too, though I will say that I hope this expert loco will not trade off things like suspension as with other expert packs.

Vienna to St. Pölten (~60km) uses ETCS lvl2, but St. Pölten to Linz (~120km) is LZB only. As much as i would love the whole Route from Vienna to Linz or even Salzburg, thinking realistically, St. Pölten to Linz would be the most feasible Route at the Moment.

It could include RJX Services nonstop from STP to Linz, the slower RJ Services with stops in Amstetten and St.Valentin, aswell as several regional services on the route between. Maybe including the ÖBB Cityjet Desiro.

ye but 180km isnt to crazy rlly considering we have kassel to wurzburg so rlly the only difficult challenge would be vienna itself but if there some sort of way that vienna only renders when in a certain distance to prevent lag then the whole line could just be added 1 day into tsw

I don’t think the route building itself is the problem here, alot of the route runs through tunnels or along almost empty fields. There aren’t many stops either (if i’m not mistaken only 3: Tullnerfeld, Wien Meidling and Wien Hbf), but I don’t have the feeling they are ready to implement ETCS yet.
So either they cut the route short and stop at St. Pölten, or they could use LZB instead of ETCS (bit less realistic, but better than cutting it short i guess). Or maybe I’m totally wrong, and they do indeed implement ETCS.
But all of this is just speculation anyway.

For me this is a huge huge deal. Not only is this a much requested train (and with good reason), it means we'll finally get a good timetable for Vorarlberg. This should be one of my absolute favourite routes, but I can't enjoy it without the RJ/IC/EC services, so I never play it. With this I'm gonna play it loads and can't wait.

The cab car from the mod is only a "cosmetic" version made to look like one without any actual function and you cannot drive it. This one here will be an actual usable one.

It's not a route, it's a train for existing Austrian routes.

One thing timetable related i wanted to point out, which TSG have might the chance to fix on the austrian routes with the new expert timetables .Its about the substitution, which basicly is claimed "fixed" by DTG, but really isnt.

    - On Vorarlberg there isnt a single 1116 substituting in Timetable mode, nor static stock is around (Not a single Taurus parked in the entire map). since the amount of austrian stock is low anyway, this is a huge imersionbraker.
    - Same on Semmering, not a Single Vectron is subbing in the Timetalbe, also no static stock.

Overall i wish the expert timetalbes have more static stock around, its rather on the minimum end and the freight yards feel empty on many routes.

Don't forget that the EC services on Vorarlberg are still driven by the 182 from Hamburg. A sensible choice at the time of release, but it should have replaced by the 1116 later.

Those are EN services aren't they? There are no daytime long distance services, when it's at least hourly IRL.

On the subject of the new expert timetables:

For Vorarlberg I'd like to see:
    - The addition of the OBB 1116 (as mentioned above) for both passenger and freight services
    - More EC services represented with both the MRCE ES64 and Railpool Vectron where applicable
    - The inclusion of ICE-T services to Bregenz Hbf (as the route's time period was before Lindau's new Reutin station opened etc)
    - Plus some railtours with the OBB 1020
    - More AI traffic overall at larger stations etc

For Salzburg-Rosenheim I'd like to see:
    - Much more AI traffic added to Salzburg Hbf as the only thing I've always disliked is how empty it feels
    - Inclusion of ICE services via Salzburg Hbf
    - Additional services which start/terminate at Salzburg Taxham-Europark (however in reality these are operated by diesel locos, but would still like to see these represented even if not completely accurate for more traffic)
    - OBB 1020 railtours

    All pictures taken by me
Below shows Salzburg Taxham-Europark station with the last picture from Salzburg Hbf
