ECML South from Kings Cross is finally coming from Alan Thomson Simulations the bit of the ECML that has been asked for in game for along time now and I can't wait for future updates on this route and find out about the trains that are included

Like the idea but also a little worried after the class 90 debacle

wasn’t listening to the stream, but i saw a picture just saying ‘kings cross’- has the whole run to peterborough been confirmed?

I don’t believe it said it will end at Peterborough. I am a bit suspicious that it only said Kings Cross and no other end point, while every other route did. This to me says they haven’t fully decided the end or are aware that it would cause a stir.

It would be very disappointing if they ended up half doing the route, stopping us from ever getting the full route (like they did with MAC).

Do we actually know it's to Peterborough? Since they just referred to it as ECML King's Cross, and after the whole Alderley Edge debacle...

At least we know it's going as far as Finsbury Park since that station was shown

Very good route to be announced - but to be fair after the class 90 how can we be assured that the route will launch in an acceptable. Also didn't get what the end point was - maybe it's King's Cross to Huntingdon to really give us memories of their last route.

I wonder what rolling stock will be included? Surely an IC225 is a no brainer.

Just managed to tune in after the football and was suspicious of the fact it only said "King's Cross".

MAC didn't go to Crewe as most hoped, so will wait and see...

To be honest, the route would be completely pointless if it doesn't go all the way to Peterborough. I get some intercity services call earlier at Stevenage, but that's about 20 minutes? Not even that? And then there's the issue of there being a gap in between Stevenage and Peterborough which would likely go untouched.

The title of it suggests that even the developers don't know the scope of where the project will reach...

Although if I've understood correctly, by having ECML featured in the title, that writes off the Hertford Loop? At minimum Stevenage (although that would feel deflating), at best Peterborough.

Will have to see how this pans out before I form a proper opinion of the project. Potential of a Class 91 though? Also potential for Liams Class 387 remember that...

from what i’m reading, ats are still undecided about where their route should end. which begs the question, why announce it in the first place, but even more importantly, if they’re not convinced they can get all the way to peterborough, why try? the brilliant team that built mac are now mostly aabs, and with ats’ recent history, it’s clear that a mega project like this is too much to handle. if they can pull it off, fair play to them and i will have a significantly higher opinion of them than i do now. but i have very many valid concerns and reservations as to whether they're really the right people to take on another section of ecml

I hope it's a success, but after the debacle of Manchester Airport and the disastrous class 90. I won't be touching this with a barge pole.

They made out it was a big project so I would suggest it is more than half a route.

I think it’ll be ridiculous if they’ve chosen to develop another mainline with a major terminus & can’t get it to a proper end point.

With MAC, it’s incredibly disappointing but I’m at least somewhat understanding since it was their first shot at TSW. If they’ve knowingly done it again, then it’ll be on their own heads.

Peterborough would make sense because at least with using the same headcodes you could in theory and with having to load up Pet to Don, do a full drive from KX to Doncaster

From what I've read the ATS team are potentially still thinking about how far to build the route. Hopefully they'll be able to reach Peterborough.

In theory this could be brilliant. If it includes the Class 91. And goes to Peterborough. And isn't plagued by blurry textures. But until I see otherwise I'm just going to assume it's King's Cross to Finsbury Park.

I would hazard a guess, having watched Take a Ticket back, that ATS don't want an Alderney Edge 2.0 and would rather keep their cards close to their chest until the final call is made. It'd be all well and good for them to say Peterborough but if they have to cut it at, say, Stevenage, then we'd all rightly complain.

The main question for me is where the Hereford loop comes in, and where the Thameslink terminus is.

That being said there is nothing to prove it ain't a Kings Cross Railfan experience...

A full Kings Cross to Peterborough has plenty of potential with the LNER Class 801, Thameslink Class 700 (albeit the 8 car /0 variant, rather than the 12 car /1 variants), Class 387 as you say and if it's the route loco and full route to Peterborough, possibly the long awaited Class 91.

I said in the TSW7 thread that, depending how this route unfolds, it's my most anticipated route.
The one thing for me that is confirmed for this route, is my favourite football club's home stadium will feature (which will be easy for people to narrow down given the very little info we do know about it and can be glimpsed in the screenshot!)

This route has a lot of potential if done right. Going all the way to Peterborough would almost be necessary to do an East Coast Mainline route out of Kings Cross justice, but I fear there will be another "bus replacement service" situation. I also hope they get the audio right this time if a 91 is made to go with it.

Another thing for this route is mount of route hopping like to the Suffragette line at Harringay to Harringay Green Lanes and if add the Moorgate line route hope to Mildmay Line at Highbury and Islington then at King's Cross route hope at Southeastern Hight Speed

Assuming it is Kings Cross to Peterborough, Thameslink services would be Kings Cross to Peterborough (I think, I've certainly seen Class 700's at Kings Cross), Finsbury Park to Hitchin (Brighton to Cambridge services) and Finsbury Park to Peterborough (Horsham to Peterborough services), unless they model St Pancras International Thameslink platforms and York Way Tunnels. That would help make up a bulk of the services of that, if it is the intended route (and if so I doubt it'd include the Hertford Loop as well).

The bottom picture with the Azuma, what location would that be? It looks to be north of Stevenage with the flat fens.

Bottom pic is definitely just south of Peterborough. Dual track, same signal box. It's Holme. The ATS route is 100% going to Peterborough.

well now it’s all but confirmed the route will go to peterborough, it means we can think more about the product, and to be honest i really don’t know what to make of this one. do i think ats can build the route to a good standard, in terms of scenery and accuracy? yes, initial screenshots don’t raise any alarms. however, there’s a lot to question. can they make a good timetable for a very, very busy route? the MAC timetable is excellent, one of tsw’s best; helped by the inclusion of the sunday schedule- but the 90 timetable for wcmls is utterly appalling. the 91 really ought to come with this, and hints from ats suggest that this was the long term plan when the 90 was in development. but they MUST get it right, otherwise it’ll spoil the whole dlc. this also needs dtg to be harsher if the product isn’t ready, as we saw from the 90 parts of it weren’t even done correctly when ats knew they didn’t know better. despite all this, i do think it’ll be a good route, because ats know their entire reputation is on the line with this one: get it wrong again, and it’s surely curtains for them with tsw development. interested to see how this unfolds

I really didnt like this announcement. What is the point if headlining a station with no confirmed route. If the developer doesn't even know, what is the point of announcing it? Otherwise we might as well start announcing stations and play guess the route and end up disappointed...

One of the screenshots shows Holme, which isn't that far south of Peterborough. I've had a driver I work with take a look and it's pretty much a dead giveaway.

Now why they didn't just announce it's going to Peterborough is another thing.

So we knows it’s 2019-2026 since a 801 is shown and seems like it will be KGX- PEB.
Class 801,387,700 are in game and a 91 potentially incoming.
Do you guys think we’re going to end up in a situation where ATS pick between Moorgate lines and the Hertford loop? Either way I’m excited for what’s coming. Would pay £40+ if we got both lines added to it. Could see a 717 add on and a 313 feature if they set it in 2019. Got to be one of the best roadmaps in a long time

This BETTER go to Peterbrough. The fact that they don't even have the confidence to announce it in the direct is very concerning. Why do they keep on taking up important projects and keep butchering them... Much requested Class 90 with it's issues, Important link in WCML missing, and now they have locked up an important part of ECML from other devs, but don't even have the confidence to do it fully... Has to be THE WORST dev to date for TSW..

Really hope I get proved wrong, for the sake of all of us...

Check my reply! The signal box and crossing shown in the last screenshot posted by ATS matches up exactly to Holme, just south of Peterborough. Why they haven’t just announced it is beyond me, as they've literally shown it in a screen shot how far north they have done.

Them not announcing it it why I have no confidence yet. MAC was supposed to go to Crew too. If you are on PC you can even see that the DLC file is named CrewManchester. So the fact that they have screenshots from that place is no solid indication that the route will go upto Peterborough. Only when they officially announce it, confirmation hits.

If they do make it to Peterborough, then there is no doubt this would be one the best content the game has gotten in recent times, especially with the Class91 we are seeing here!
