I used the comparison before for one of the route "remasters", but it's apt here as well. Reminds me of bad video game remasters like the PS4 version of the Batman Arkham games, it looks different, not really better. Like the god-rays seem very exaggerated, reminds me of old 7th gen games that liked to use a ton of bloom to show it off. Ironically resulting in games that often aged worse than ones that used it in a more reserved manner.

for my part, the only thing I liked was the bergen line (and also the fact that we FINALLY have a release date for the tadami line)

I like the new features (except new lighting). The routes... Well, I was one of those who requested Miami, so it would be unfair of me to ignore this route. The England and Germany routes didn't spark any interest.
Preliminary plan: free update + purchase of Miami. I hope one route will cost less than the entire game, and not like last year. Right, DTG?

Another thing to note; I am so glad that they officially dropped Gen 8 support so they could invest their resources instead into implementing all these cool new PC graphics features like DLSS, FSR 4, DX12, etc. It was about time that they did that. Let's hope that it will run well though, we'll see soon. :)

The FSR/DLSS addition made this, everything is going to be so crisp I can't wait.

For everyone saying it´s too expensive: keep a watch out for sites selling Steam keys. I got TSW key half price last year before it was even released.

Speaking of price. The whole Special ultra or whatever it´s called edition seems to only include the TSW 6 routes this time around? That´s rather disappointing! In the past they included a bunch of random routes and if you did not own some of them, it was a bargain.

Disappointed. Was hoping for PS5 Pro support if only for the high freq mode for the cpu which should help alot and also increase the size of the texture pool to stop the blurries.

Instead just same old talk and little actual action worth a damn.

Think it's starter pack only for me which will be the 1st time I dont go all in on release day

Can anyone ITK confirm if the KWVR line from Keighley to Oxenhope 5 mile branch line is included in the Skipton/ilkley to Leeds/Bradford route?

I'm more than a little concerned how this is going to run on my XBox Series S. I remember when Rush Hour rendered TSW2 unplayable on XBox One. I'll just have to wait and see I guess. Is it me, or are the simplified controls and Freight Handler just carried across from Wonders Of Sodor/the Thomas at West Somerset content?

I'll see how it runs on my XBox Series S before I make a decision.

The hate and criticism this year is a lot quieter compared to previous years,

I guess people have finally gotten used to it all, this is just a common thing now.

However, only time.will tell if this is the calm before the storm.

Gotta admit, got excited that we're getting a new US route not set in NY or CA, then the "Take a Ticket" announcement happened, and took the wind right out of that sail. Also, they are missing a HUGE opportunity with the "Freight Hauler" mode announcement, by not remastering the 'CSX Heavy Haul" DLC.

I watch Train Sim Society, but sometimes I feel like he forgets he's American, which is sad, because there aren't many content creators for TSW from the US.

Review of Train Sim World 7

    • Florida Tri Rail Route (Deluxe version loco the GP 49)
    • Airedale and Wharfdale Route (Deluxe version loco the Class 333)
    • Nurnberg-Wurzberg Route (Deluxe version loco the ICE 4)
    New game mode- Freight Hauler?

    Live Weather feature

    "Graphics and performance improvements"

    "Simplied controls"

    "AI conductors"

    "New safety system settings"

    --

    What do you think?

Personally none of the routes sound worth the bundle.

I think I'll go with the free upgrade.

I really am not sure what to think of the "Freight Hauler".... it's like a sort of kinda randomized Free Roam?

    It sounds interesting in THEORY.

I'll have to see how it works in practice.

    Weather is... meh.

And again I'll have to see the "graphics and game performance improvements" before judging it either way.

The rest... again... don't really care.

Overall the only thing that MIGHT be cool to me is freight hauler. The rest is all for an audience that isn't me, and that's fine. There's other stuff already on the road map to look forward to.

Given what I gather Freight Hauler is for, Sand Patch Grade would not benefit from it, as it has no real line side industries to serve, aside from 2 coal tipples, as its mainly a mainline route.

If anything the route that should get reworked for this should be Oakville.

    Checklist

    1. Selection for core routes
    2. Live Weather
    3. DX12 by default
    4. Epic settings with other graphical improvements
    5. Enhanced passenger behavior
    6. NJT Bergen Line w/ NJT GP40-2B and Comet IV/V
    7. QoL improvements
    8. Faster loading times

Take my money immediately, lol :D I am super excited for TSW7. I am hoping my RTX3070 OC, 32GB DDR4 @3600Mhz, and Intel Core i7 12700K can handle TSW7 at epic settings with the increased graphical improvements.

Same, I am really hyped! The graphics have a lot of potential! Although I'm a little skeptical of course, I'm willing to give the improvements a chance. :)
It also looks like DTG have posted the official specs requirements for the graphics settings as well in the FAQ page.

I’m really happy to see we are getting some more ECML. And Kings Cross too. :D. It will look phenomenal.

Sadly there was nothing Scotrail. At all. I was actually hoping to see Rivet Games come up with something but I think they are done with making their own routes at this point. I think they’re just sticking to assisting with other routes instead.

I really hope that happens, with an expansion to include the parts that were omitted in the infamous map debacle.

It would be perfect for this mode.

I'm hoping that if people like FH mode, there will be routes built to take full advantage of it in the future. I remember an ancient freeware MSTS route set in the NY/NJ metro area that featured Hoboken yard and just a ton of industrial sidings and yards. I know a lot of those industries are gone now but a backdated version using what we already have of NEC, Morristown, etc could be awesome for FH.

I'd also love to see expert coupling be adopted across the game, but especially here.

Give me "Freight Hauler Valley" inside of timetable mode and I'll be happy forever DTG!

Do we really need ANOTHER train sim world? This yearly release system with minimal changes is as much a cash grab as Call of Duty.

What on earth is the rationale for making people download a new game and all their DLC every single year?

this is so terribly inconvenient. I’m not going to bother anymore.

If Epic mode turns out to be a legit upgrade it's gonna be time to talk to my wife about spending on a new gaming PC lol.

My laptop is doing OK with TSW at 1080p, but 3rd parties are for sure gonna push these settings even if DTG proceeds more cautiously.

Cautiously optimistic, but we'll see how it goes. Not long to wait for early access to see how it performs in the wild . Going away for a few days and get home on the 10th hope preload actually works!

the worst part is when they announce a DLC for one version and then move it to the next version due to sheer internal disorganization (yes, i'm referring to tadami line)
at least we'll have the free starter pack

lol, I hope you get your new gaming PC approved :D I gotta save my money now for a new GPU, hopefully black Friday deals available soon. I hope I don't have to retire my GPU and CPU early for epic settings

Very cool to see Jetwash's lighting baked into the core of TSW7, this will lead me to think all TSW routes past, present and future will have enhanced visual fidelity regarding, lighting and shadows which is super.

With the range of new features and improvements, I think it is safe to saw TSW is here to stay for a long time. I think a TSW8 thread will soon be created  Currently, it looks like memory/storage prices won't drop down to their normal values until mid 2027 or 2028 due to the AI boom and datamining.

    image-36.png
    image-40.png

    Located 6 miles from Peterborough

So this is one hell of a route

Even the free upgrade is a hassel. They need to drop this pointless numbering thing, give us the core updates, and sell their bundles, instead of making us re-download everything year after year. Or find a way for us to upgrade our existing installations to the new "number."

theyve done this for years, I dont know what you were expecting.

its just something we unfortunately have to get used to. We have to play with the cards we are dealt with.

I know it may not sound like a good thing, and im not saying it is. But its something we have to get used to, there is no way around it.

One of the most positive new releases I’ve seen for TSW in a long time, with the list of new features, absolutely blown away, and I’m genuinely more excited for the new features such as live weather and graphics settings improvements, than the actual routes!

The UK route, while it wouldn’t have been on my personal top 10 UK routes to have in the game is still a very welcome addition since it’s a full network route and a very busy one at that! It just need the Northern 158 as well. It’s strange the Class 333 came as the deluxe DLC, I’d have thought it’d be the other way round with the Class 331, nevertheless fantastic to see both of them in the game!

Not only that the ‘Take a ticket’ segment, well Par to Newquay and Sheerness as well as ECML South?! Again, brilliant!

Pretty sure all the maps will have been updated. Easiest just to delete the old copies and download new.

When will support for Train Sim World 6 end?
"At this time, we have no further updates planned for Train Sim World 6 and newly released content will not be compatible."

This is a common theme with Train Sim world and it should change.

As for the Peninsula Corridor, it shows up as not purchased for TSW7, along with the two locomotives for it.

Is it just me, or is it conspicuous the standout new gameplay feature is freight hauling, yet the class 70 that seemed pretty close and with more immersive expert level features was not mentioned once? I mean, surely the two are closely even if the core UK route might not be the right home?

I am ok with everything announced, no super strong feelings either way. I am worried that, as good as the new features are, playing will largely be the same in terms of performance detract from the overall experience.

I certainly like some of the announcements, but as a Xbox X player that just plays UK content, with 25 TSW6 or prior UK DLC in their wishlist already, this is very much a core game cycle I will watch and wait and see before jumping in.

At least I'm more excited now after watching the stream than I was before, so: mission accomplished, DTG :)

    My thoughts:
-What excites me the most are the promised improvements, in terms of graphics, performance and especially passengers. Very intrigued to see how much has been changed, especially about the latter. If passengers have been improved significantly, this alone will make the hassle of changing to 7 more than worthwhile for me.
-The new core routes don't blow me away, but I'll give Nürnberg-Würzburg a shot. Could turn out nice, although it's still another rather generic electrified two-track main route. And it has a Nürnberg-S-Bahn 442! Hope this will replace the current one on Nürnberg-Ingolstadt too. The 440 despite being another generic EMU is a good addition and could see very widespread use, and hopefully we'll see it on some existing routes as well :)
-The ICE 4 looks very neat and many people will lose their mind over it... I'm not the world's biggest ICE driver but I appreciate having it ingame now, I can only imagine how much work these kind of trains must be for developers :)
-TSG building an Expert Railjet will make some people go nuts, considering how often the Railjet has been requested! And it will raise the value of the Austrian or Austrian-adjacent routes considerably, adding much needed variety (especially to Vorarlberg and Semmering) :D
-Seems like Neckartalbahn is closer than I anticipated! Screenshots look incredibly promising, can't wait to learn more about it... for me this is the most anticipated upcoming "content"
-Another highlight that made me go crazy is the announcement of a DB V100 by TSG coming up! If this will come with its own Niddertal timetable, I'm in heaven
-The new features sound interesting, albeit some seem rather small and barely qualify as "feature", like the safety systems thing (which is very much appreciated tho). This freight hauling thing sounds promising, could breathe some life into all the many currently unused industry connections on soooo many routes. Considering DTG's track record with "exciting new features" in the last years I'm more careful tho. Let's wait and see how it turns out.
-I think it's morbidly funny that TSR's have been announced as "exciting new feature" last year and this year we got "actually working and varied TSR's" as a bullet point ;)

For the UK route, I already will be happy when it runs fine without layers on Series S.

I'm nornally not that much into UK routes, but the Nothern route with the Class 331 is making me excited. I normally play the German stuff, but due to my excitement for the UK route, I feel less for the German route, even with getting an new EMU and an updated 442. Well, maybe the excitement will come later on, but I'm afraid for blurry textures on the German route.

Yes the routes look pretty good especially the miami route. Edit the German route looks good as well. why are consoles not getting of these new flashy features. And I see that console can't get all their content again at early access.

What’s wrong with the new lighting? It’s also optional so don’t worry, you won’t have to use it. Bet you do though.

Quite a lot to take in after the overnight…

Verdict still out on what to get but struggling to justify £58 on the Deluxe route bundle as already noted. Why on earth would the extra train with the Leeds route be just another probably near quiet EMU. Certainly when I travelled on the similar 332’s on HEX I don’t recall hearing much traction noise at all. I definitely think this was the understudy route originally intended for Spring release, which got promoted front stage when the Diva decided not to sing. And we need to see candidly what involvement Rivet have had with the project particularly the trains and their sounds. The German route as said, more of the same. Absolutely huge opportunity missed to go the distance and do something in and around Berlin. US route, well I already have several 100 miles of Florida and Georgia in Run 8, albeit not this section and with MSTS 2003 level graphics, and if we once again are only getting a stump of a route can’t say it fills me with excitement.

Core features, all well and good but I do hope implemented properly. The freight feature sounds like they may be doing their own take on the Run 8 Industry feature but it needs the supporting purposeful gameplay - manifests in to break into locals, then the reverse process for outgoing traffic. Plus the very dynamic OTTO despatcher who if need be you can take over from yourself to get a critical move done. The one thing missing though unless I overlooked it, once again, is any improvement to the Save Game. Whether that be more slots or the other long requested bugfixes. I mean, suppose I want to keep a persistent switching game going on a US route which supports it but in the meantime do a run on another route which I need to save and resume? And the Leeds route is another where we might want to keep a session going, hopping from one train to another but as soon as you save and come off then load back in, all the objective data is gone rendering further play useless. Sorry for ping but DTG Matt could we get an answer on that please?

Have to say my main interest lies with some of the announced third party content, though I hope the reveal is based on proof of concept this time round and not vague assurances from people they are working on something. The Dutch and Romanian routes of particular interest. After the MIA and Class 90 debacles personally I wouldn’t touch anything from ATS with a bargepole and I hope behind the scenes DTG have read the riot act and they need to raise their game significantly. I certainly don’t see their route going all the way to Peterborough, maybe Hitchin if you’re lucky. And no doubt ultra modern piggy backing on rolling stock already in the game. A pre modernisation Kings Cross with the Widened Lines services, Cravens DMU’s, various loco hauled services and of course a Deltic would be awesome. Maybe it will be… Sheerness sounds interesting and if Firefly keep the momentum from MV should be good, though a little short for my taste so will have to see where they sit as regards price.

Would it be possible to download the DLC's'files before the 5-day early acces? Other wise its more a 4 day early acces. With FS25 it's possible to download it a few days ahead, but it won't unlock until the release time.
