Hopefully at some point we might get a 195 out of this being it shares the same cab and body shell as the 331..

Really looking forward to the 331 though.. going to put it straight onto my WCML 2026TT Mod once out.

My main concern is that Leeds is gonna look pretty quiet until the Northern 158 comes out. That should be able to cover the services to Harrogate, Nottingham, Manchester Victoria etc but obviously not the many TPX services. Until then it'll just be EMUs, LNER and Voyagers. Not deathly quiet but lacking.

Semi frustratingly, I live in-between this and the NTP route, I can see what becomes the Calder Valley Line from my window (Between Leeds and Bradford).

I mentioned in a different thread, the 66 "should" be a GBRF, and I agree on the 333 being too core to sit well as the add-on unit, would a class 60 have been the better upsell there? As mentioned, they did/do run on the stone trains.

If Holbeck is included, which is a doubtful, there is a possibility of a nice stock move from Neville Hill to Holbeck, dragging a 333 for refurb. Or going to Midland/Balm Road depot (just past Holbeck) to use Freightliner's wheel lathe

I’m probably being dim, but I can’t find any sign on Steam of being able to just buy this route and the 333 on their own… do you have to buy the bundle, then? I didn’t get the bundle last year and eventually bought Riviera a bit later on - can’t remember if it was available standalone from the off or I waited for a sale though. Probably the latter. Looks like it might be the same this time round too? Or am I missing something “obvious”? :D

New releases for the new version of the game are always bundled to begin with I believe and you might have to wait for the standalone at some point after initial release.

The individual routes along with the locos and free starter pack will be available from the 15th September.

Agreed. Plus no TPE movements either…might require some CC creativity to bring it to life…and obviously then sacrifice some fps!

But if you want both the route and Class 333 it’s probably going to cost £42 for the separates rather than the usual £34.99 for an inclusive route DLC with two new trains included. Quite cunning really as it pushes people to spend the extra £16 to get the Deluxe Pack, even if they aren’t really interested in the US or German content.

I think this was more of an issue when the bundles were less expensive, but now I think it’s not so much of an issue.

As a console player I already know the German route will be a blurfest so I’m not even remotely bothered about it. The US route is another half length effort & it’ll have to blow my socks off to get me interested, usually there are several caveats with US content & lack of train systems.

Frankly the UK offering is way higher value than then the others this year, a full length end to end network with 2 actually new sets of rolling stock. Not a question for me - putting down the extra £10~ will just be throwing it away.

The TPE activity could get a temporary fix with the addition of an unbranded 802.
Everyone is making a very good point at the lack of diesel in Leeds and it concerns me.
We will be missing any services out to the east as no ohle is that way and anything towards Manchester or knottingly. The only other northern services that can be represented are Doncaster I think.

True, but DTG aren’t very creative with unbranded AI traffic. The only UK route that put effort in was Mildmay with the Elizabeth Line/GA Aventras. Looks like a DIY job until the Northern 158 is out.

Being whimsical, if the route had been set in the BR Classic era, most of the stock (apart from a new DMU and Paxman HST) would have been in the game for the other layers! And probably ensued a Day One purchase…

Not from me would have avoided it like the plague...

With the modern setting and new modern traction Ive already given DTG my money with the pre-purchase

personally i’d avoid this. my main issue with cardiff is that it’s too slow paced, and the dmu’s are a big part of that. an electric network is much more my kind of style and i think dtg are looking to offer that different experience to players

The main issue with Cardiff is that the network was just too small. It should have gone to Barry Island, included at least one of the Valley lines in full and run out further on the remaining one. That, and the fact a substantial part of the tiny route was the 15/20 MPH crawl from Queen Street through Central to Grangetown and Ninian Park. To be fair to Leeds Local (as I’m calling it) while the Ilkley Line is a bit of a bus stop, running out to Skipton you do have a few longer stretches between stations.

I was watching part of the Direct earlier, trying to cut through the fluff, and it looks as if DTG have created the audio for the 331 and 333, albeit it wasn’t made clear if there was an actual run out to record the traction sounds from various parts of the train. Probably a question for the stream.

I find it odd but I understand it. There are limited numbers of the 333s, only 16 of them. It would make sense as a deluxe. If it was standalone, the route would look empty.

At the risk of repeating myself, it wouldn’t be so bad if this was pitched at the normal price of a two train route. But having the 333 as a separate purchase (unless you go deluxe) increase the price by £7.

To be fair, I do understand you with that, the issue is that theres not enough 333s to run the line itself. Plus modern day now they dont run the line as frequent (which is a complete shame for me). Having the 801 as the "second train" with it would make up the timetable which the 331s had to help with. Plus from what it looks like so far, the route looks quite good and really detailed from my eyes, so more money gets thrown at dtg from me.
That is why it's worth spending the extra few pennies to complete the line. (thats in my opinion)

I do believe that some of the 333s are running Leeds - Doncaster services now.
There was route training done either last year or earlier this year.

I been to Leeds 2 times and I been thanking about it just be empty as only have 331 333 and 801 long with 170 ai and few 158s we do need 91s as they also run on the line to Skipton and Bradford and also would be have a 185 to like modem day Northern transpennie sine that main train for that route and maybe get Harrogote loop to use the 170 more

That's mine as well, I suppose it's possible we'll get something to stand in for it until the Northern 158 is released. But it'll probably be empty.

333s still run the majority of services across the entire route, 12 out on there every day whilst only 3 pairs of 331s and two single 331s are out. I presume for those without the 333, the 331/1 will infill those 12 circuits.

I just hope that the 331 gets layered onto other routes, especially MAC.

I'm thinking the Rylstone traffic would more likely have been a Class 60 (definitely needed).

There's one other point I'd like to point out about the 333, it's a problem that isn't isolated to this train which is the modelling, at least from the screen shots. To me, it looks like the headlights are too narrow (in width), and the front windows are slightly too big.

there's just something with the front that's bugging me

I love the fact it's a network. I'm from cardiff so was excited when the cardiff route came out but it was made so poorly I don't really enjoy it which is ashame if it went to barry and ponty it would've been much better. This feels more complete and adds a bit more of a mainline which is nice so looking forward to it.

Well, based on the photo of the real unit I can see at least 2 things wrong with the virtual one.
Firstly the cant line. On the virtual one it isn't curved as much and doesn't get close enough to the upper headlight
Secondly, the train destination board is on the wrong side on the virtual one and much too big which makes the right hand side window (secondmans side) look completely off.
Lastly, a lack of electricity warning stickers below the cant line on the front windows and also on the body side in front of the cab doors.

I think it may be useful for me to point out that the virtual train is a post refurbishment unit where the flip dot display has been replaced by a new orange LED scrolling dot matrix and that the real image shows one prior to this change.

Been a few years now but I occassionaly travelled on this line to visit the KVWR branch (with a few beers had in Spoons in Keighley) and onto Skipton to visit a few pubs, very disappointed that the full heritage line won't be included.

Leeds will be quieter too without a current NR158 (I know one is on the way though) and no 185's and no 195's. I also used to pick up the XC HST to York too where I used to stay whilst visiting, although we do have XC Voyagers in game

It's one for the sales for me

Like I said in the TSW7 discussion thread. When Riviera Line and WCML South were announced as the core British routes I couldn’t have been happier. Routes I always wanted in the game. Riviera Line is still in constant rotation.

However, Airedale and Wharfedale lines, well they’ve just never been in my top list of routes I’d want to see for TSW and that’s speaking as a Northerner! I’ve travelled on them in real life and I just didn’t find them that interesting but that’s personal preference. I did have my hopes up for the North Wales Coast or even part of the Portsmouth Direct Line.

However, the fact it is a full network route is fantastic! The 331 will be a really interesting unit to drive, considering the superior acceleration of the unit. Hopefully when the 158 releases this will fill in the blanks.

It’s one of those years that as a PC player the new additions to the core features is actually more exciting that the core routes but it will of course still be on the pre-order list.

I guess this is different for everyone, I'm more excited about this route then any previous core UK route. However I'm the guy who really like BCC and Glossop line, even with the sparse timetables. Why, because I really like the Class 323 and end to end routes. I was hoping for the Class 195, however the Class 331 looks the same and I hope it's still a nice unit to drive. I'm not familair with this route, as I'm not from the UK, but it seems it's also a nice route scenery wise.
