A diesel only line out of Hoboken. What we know so far, included stock is the GP40PH-2B diesel locomotive and also includes the Comet V cab car and trailer. let's go can't wait :)

I really wish they could've added the Comet IV as well and make the Morristown Line more complete, but it's still nice to have the Comet V arriving in the game. :)

Makes sense. Maybe in a future route we'll get those coaches, and have them layer on the other NJ routes that they are assigned to as well, making it feel more complete. ;)

Very happy with this. I loved the ALP-45 from Morristown, so to have it for a diesel-only route now is great. With more NJ Transit stock, would be finally nice to see NY-Trenton updated as another one of my favourite routes.

As a UK native and a up and coming US commuter fan in TSW, how many miles will this line be?

They probably going go as far as Ridgewood..They definitely NOT going to Port Jervis...I might be surprised if they even end at Suffern lol.

Hopefully the route goes further than Ridgewood as it would be nice to have more services and traffic from Main Line to complement. Nonetheless, it's nice to have more of a network and, overall, more US content in general which TSW needs.

Very exited for more nj transit content! Im so happy with this announcement. The best thing out of today’s stream.

I have a feeling it’s both the main and bergen county branch to Suffern.

An all-electric route, then a diesel-only one? Thanks for the dual-mode locomotive, it's very "useful".
Okay, it was stupid to hope for a full NJCL to Bay Head.

Yes... but... You know what I mean. There's no single route divided into electric and diesel sections.

I must admit I'm disappointed that this isn't Port Jefferson as was widely speculated.

I still have hope for the nj coast line combined with fixed ny trenton to be a core route for tsw8. With pl42ac as a deluxe loco.

Following this announcement, DTG should follow what they did with Boston-Providence and the HSP46 timetable with a brand-new Morristown GP40 (and Comet) timetable which would add so much more variety.

In my opinion, many people simply don't want to see the old LIRR with a new branch. And it's unlikely that DTG will undertake to redone the route from scratch. In my opinion, 2.0 was a poor addition, as it retained too much of 1.0. It's good that at least the signaling and the safety systems is working now.

    Hyped!

I too was hoping for LIRR Port Jefferson, but this is a pretty great choice imo. Hope we get both paths to Suffern. I know Port Jervis ain't happening lol.

This is amazing, I definitely can't wait. I am so suprised because the other day, I was thinking about the section of track just east of Kearney but west of the D&LW tunnels that brings passengers to the lower level of Secaucus. I partially wondered if the trackwork present from the Morristown line may have been an easter egg for this route. I also yesterday was thinking it would be pretty cool to see single level NJT stock in the game. Now that it is confirmed, there will be so much replayability and service patterns with other NJT routes.

Since this is the Bergen Line, I predict passenger operations for this route will end at Suffern with bringing trains into the yard just north of Suffern. Here is hoping we also get the Comet V trailer too since. I'd be stoked if we also see Metro North West of Hudson liveries appear but highly unlikely since those trains share the pool of equipment with NJT services.

Interestingly, with the Port Jefferson leak that was in several youtube videos, I wonder if there is potential for LIRR Port Jefferson branch to eventually arrive. Who knows, maybe in the season of reveals later on in the winter.

I summarized my thoughts on signaling and safety systems in this thread. Hopefully someone from the dev side will take notice and make improvements for the BCL, Comet V, and geeps. I really hope we avoid the cab signaling disaster that was New York to Trenton in this iteration.

I hoped DTG would add the NJT PL42AC and Metro-North F40PH-3C as separate DLCs for the Bergen Line.

It’s good to have safety systems enabled by default. But I usually turn off the safety systems since I used the advanced HUD setting enabled and I drive the train and read the signals without crashing the train. And I like driving any US train at any US route. That’s my opinion.

The only thing with the Comet IV is that at least we have the MBTA BTCs that somewhat resemble them and already exist with NJT paint in Creators Club/Livery Designer. Nothing remotely close to the Comet V exists so it’ll be a great addition.

Also I believe the Comet V cars are solely used (if not mostly) on the Bergen, Main, and Passaic Valley lines. The Comet IV and II are used on NEC, NJCL, and occasionally the Raritan line (with Comet V lead cars). I can’t remember seeing them on Morris/Essex, Montclair, or Gladstone lines much either. So I assume that’s why they are just going with the V.

Yup. Maybe one day the NJCL will come, I used to play it a lot in TSC but it'll be great to see it in TSW too, makes for a great opportunity to add the older Comet cars! :)

I guess is the same reason Tri-rail route is not all the way to Mangonia Park and why Morristown didn’t go all the way to hackettstown :)

We don't know if the Main is included yet but it doesn't mean its not. It sounds like its months away from being ready Feb the earliest probably so depending on how the route building goes it may still be in scope for the project.

And they don't want to confirm or deny until they know for sure.

Look what happened when Dresden Riesa first was announced and then they cut the Airport Branch and Meissen Branch by release as they went over time budget.

They don't want that situation again

    It hurts.

What "Main Line" people are talking about? Is this a parallel branch? If so, then it's the Sherman Hill level of evil. Jokes about New Haven are no longer appropriate.

I’ll be honest, I’m 110% biased here, but growing up in summit NJ and being a massive fan of NJT from nostalgic to the great equipment, I’m very excited for this route. Hard for me to believe a 34 mile route wouldn’t go that distance, but even if not, maybe I’m the only one but I can’t wait to drive the GP, it’s the train I loved the most when I was a teenager watching them come through every day. I know it’s probably not perfect, but anything NJT makes me smile!!

Overall I’m pretty excited about the whole announcements. I’m not a big German player; bought the routes and enjoyed them, but for loading speed I’ve removed all of them. The British routes are very fun to play, and not knowing the exact routes being American I am probably not as bothered about details or end points/trains as others who are locals! Tri rail sounds fun, could be fun in beginning but repetitive like Metrolink routes, but I enjoy after a few months starting those up again for a few days. But Morristown line being my local growing up line; I always go back to and it’s the first route I keep replaying routes I already have platinum on. I just love it! So I can’t wait for this one! Thanks for letting my inner child come out with my long read!!

For sure, one thing that annoys me about Morristown is the inability to drive on the Boonton Line, although we get the stub services. No Gladstone either. But, we do get both Penn and Hoboken, and of course Hoboken had to be built from scratch. Boonton does seem a little too long for what DTG usually produce.

However, in the case of Bergen, where we have both Hoboken and Secaucus already done, it seems the Main Line should really be included in the scope as well. If not it's going to feel so odd to see the Main Line trains departing as AI just to reemerge not too far down the line. Of course, that assumes that we even get them as AI in the first place.

I would also really like to see this route go to Suffern, and also some included freight. Perhaps it goes without saying but the signals and safety systems have to be at least as well done as on Morristown. While I am prepared to be disappointed, Morristown has at least given some hope that this won't be a complete flop.
