Setting aside the route and loco DLCs, which are a huge smorgasbord, it seems that just in terms of upsdating and upgrading the core program this is the biggest overhaul we have seen since TSW2. DX12? Ray tracing? DLSS? "Epic" (ie JetWash) lighting? The freight mode? Passenger behavior improvements? I don't think we have seen anything with so many improvements in one go for six years

    Where?
You mean sunshufts and god rays? It's not a ray tracing and has nothing to do with it.

I'm not into conspiracies, but I would not be surprised if these graphical improvements were pushed for TSW7 because of the success of Running Train and graphics comparisons between the two.

I think they just noticed there were lots of requests for the updated ini from Jetwash after the release of Medway Valley.

They probably also noticed that some ini configurations worked great for some routes and had bad effects on others. This could cause discontent and even the return of newly purchased DLC when it does not perform well with the modified ini.

Probably someone at DTG thought "hey, why don't we apply the ini settings for them? This way people that has the hardware can have the improved graphics even if they don't have a clue about what the ini is. Also less users will touch the ini and then blame us for the bad results the modified ini causes on some DLCs."

Another nice bonus this time around that isn't being mentioned is the lack of a time limit on the free starter pack.

so looking at the whole year lineup i guess there won't be winter survey. i wondering if tsw8 will have features that were in the 2025 survey like save game slots or manual eot on couplers. but dtg is very busy for the whole year with the line up.

I suspect also the abandonment of Gen 8 freed them up to catch up to the 2020s
