It’s unsettling to come across this in the explorable area. It could be taken for a ghost town, yet it also feels like an early simulation game.
Fair enough it’s part of the outside area that isn’t supposed to be accessible but that’s very lazy what Rivet have done there. They could have modeled the steel tram rails rather than re using train tracks and ballast. Looks like a mess.
Still trying very hard to like this route and was getting there after some enjoyable enough runs in the Voyager. Then tonight took the HST out for a spin and shortly after leaving Haymarket..... 00 Never had blurry textures on this route before now. Very disappointing.
I sort of disagree, it's outside the accessible area and in theory the tracks are only there so that the trams can run, the trams can be seen by the player but not the track. It could be argued that the time spent working elsewhere on the route was better spent than re-modelling tram tacks that 99% of players would never see.
A few weeks after the update, I finally revisited the route (been busy lately). Did a service with the Voyager and really enjoyed it. The lighting and foliage looked quite nice (have they always been this good, or is this new?). I definitely appreciate the added rolling stock variety, the voyager service felt completely different to the Class 170 runs I’m used to. Edit: Just remembered a bug I encountered with the Voyager exterior PIS. The departure time from Haymarket was somewhere around 10:50, but on the train’s PIS, it showed up as “1 :5 “. Maybe a core issue? Seems like it doesn’t want to display the zeroes.
Service 2G63 (Edinburgh Waverley to Cowdenbeath) - Xbox Series X. Not for the first time on this route, and since the recent updates, but this is the first time I remembered to record the service number....blurry textures all the way from Dalmeny which was bad enough, but then got to Cowdenbeath and despite doing all that was required the game just kind of paused at nothing so didn't get the credit for doing the journey. 46 minutes - and at least 30 of them already marred by the blurry textures - completely down the drain. This game is, quite frankly, an absolute embarrassment and feels completely broken. Play by play the joy of it is being sucked out of me and getting very close to the point of just uninstalling it. What used to be a genuinely fun game to play, just isn't anymore. DTG - do better FFS !
On PC playing via Steam. It is nice to see some updates to this route, however it is quite clearly still an unfinished route in a poor state. The signalling is still a mess, AWS ramps in random places, wrong way round AWS ramps, banner repeaters not working, speed boards missing. Not to mention the timetable... However this route has so much potential if it gets some work put into it. Such a shame that the two Scottish routes that use Edinburgh are just as bad as each other. Detailed Feedback.... Edinburgh Waverley still not up to scratch, platforms 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 need to be fully modelled and player accessible. Needs a proper timetable will full content. Having two timetables that are both pretty bad is poor. We know Rivet can make really good timetables now, it’s a shame they choose not to. Signals at Edinburgh Waverley have OFF on them, they shouldn’t. The platforms should have OFF indicators. Feathers don’t light up on signal E499 just after Z tunnel. Banner repeats between Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket always show a diagonal line regardless of what the main signal is showing. (This also happens at a lot of banner repeats throughout the route) Missing OFF indicators at Haymarket. Missing 90mph speed limit sign after Haymarket platforms 2 and 4. Missing 50mph “Morpeth board” on approach to Haymarket from Fife line. Edinburgh Gateway, north end of platforms unfinished. Feather does not light up on signal EV413 at Inverkeithing. Missing 65mph speed board between Inverkeithing and Rosyth. Missing 40mph speed board between Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly. Signal ET477 AWS ramp wrong way around between Lochgelly and Glenrothes. Approach to Glenrothes from Lochgelly, no warning of 15mph speed limit on track crossing. Signal ET562 between Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy AWS ramp wrong way around. Signal EK517 no AWS alarm for flashing yellow. Signal ET553 no colour on light. 10pm speed board on entry to level branch, should be 25. Also can’t see it the sign from the train due to another speed board in the way. No stop boards at Cameron bridge. Between Dalgety Bay and Inverkeithing there is a AWS ramp for no signal. Signal EV428 no feather lit up for diverging route towards Rosyth. No signal warning for speed reduction when going from Dalgety Bay when going towards Rosyth. AWS ramp for signal EV421 quite far from signal. Rosyth to Inverkeithing 15mph speed board has missing arrow as speed limit is for crossing not the main line. EV416 Aws ramp far from signal. AWS ramp at Dalmeny on the south platform sounding alarm bell when it shouldn’t. Missing 20mph speed board at Princes Street Gardena when going from Haymarket platform 1 towards Edinburgh Waverley. Edinburgh Waverley W tunnel, no light on signal E782 when going from Haymarket to Waverley. Had a lot more screenshots to show these, but can only upload 5.
I've reported a bug with signal EK 517 on the rail tour service that takes the down south curve at Thornton Junction South. The last signalling irregularity I reported got incorrectly filed into a bug regarding another signal, but the more reports DTG get the harder it should be to ignore.
