I've double checked to make sure that I wasn't imagining this but it was mentioned in the JT development blog and the DtG roadmap article. And yet I just cannot find it anywhere. Not in the timetables, or scenarios. Nothing at all. There's a couple of odd small railtours here and there, but nothing that goes over an hour. Am I just outright missing something?
The only long Railtour that comes to mind is the Preston Docker on Blackpool Branches but even that is broken down into several segments.
If you go into the last chapter of the Journey Mode on Crewe - Preston - "A grand day out", there is a whole series of linked rail tour services where you visit all of the industrial locations. 47's on one end 20's on the other.
I can't access my PC to check but iirc it's split between the Class 20 and 47. The services don't have any special names, you have to select them to see their descriptions where it tells you that they are a railtour.
I am on Pc and I've not had any issues. You might need to key in on the other desk and also there are 2 AWS/change end levers on the floor you need to switch before the 20 will take power
This. Something about how JT does their trains means you have to activate the AWS Change Ends lever in order to draw power. If you don't want to use AWS then just don't pull the other lever with it.
I’m guessing this is a fictional tour created by JT specifically for the route, rather than one which operated in reality? I certainly can’t see anything on the Six Bells website on or around the date it’s set on. I ignored the first light engine move and set off with the first part of the tour proper from Preston to Crewe. Nice Duff thrash up the WCML. However a couple of detail points occur to me. It is extremely unlikely a Railtour in 1986 would have been formed by anything other than a Mark One charter set. Highly unlikely it would have been a Mark 2 aircon rake. Tha being the case, the tour organiser who knows his market would have requested some rare traction, either a 47/3 not a 47/4 or if train heat was required and the coaches appropriately fitted a boiler fitted Class 47/0 to provide steam heat. The Railtour is great but a little more attention to detail would have achieved perfection.
It is a 47/3 for the first leg. The 47/4 sits behind to provide ETH. But yeah it is an odd formation. Just Trains' Branch Line Society Rail Tour, as I like to call them, visiting various nooks & crannies on their route.
That’s strange as on the first leg 1Z47 it was just a single 47/4. The run round move at Crewe which I loaded in separately then spawned as 47489 with a Scotrail logo but in red stripe IC livery not the correct light blue banding.
Also make sure the reverser is in forward and not the off position. Off is the furthest forward. Just made that mistake myself and wondered why I could not get moving.
Yes, and that is just the coaches and ETS loco entering the scene so to speak. The main bulk is then done with the new JT loco variants that come with the route, the 47/3 and 20 for the driving cabs, a 47/3 joins at the front and two 20s join at the rear. I think one of the ideas of the railtour is for a passenger train using the new diesel locos to visit all the lines and locations on the route for those players who don’t particularly like driving freight.
I have completed that in journey mode and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was really to visit all places you wouldn't necessarily go to.
Funny you say that I tried a coal run and the brakes didn't even come until last minute and I spad. Also there's another bug where you derail every time you go into arpley neck shunt . I tired a dozen or so jobs and different trains and all derailed.
Ouch. And if fixes are coming, they won't be until after TSW7 which fair enough most of us are getting even if the free version, but it shouldn't have taken this long.
I think we're talking about different services. The rail tour first leg goes from Crewe to Preston Deepdale.
That's strange as 1Z47 from Preston was loaded and included passenger stops on the timetable. Anyhow not to worry, shall crack on later and enjoy (though maybe not get so much done this evening as we have the 142 min S4 Ep9 of Stranger Things on the 4K disc to get through!). Edit: Crikey, that's a heavy old train. Class 47/4 coupled inside and the two 20's on the rear of the 11 coffins. I blew the overload on departing from Crewe - twice. Nice one, JT, hopefully the Cumbrian Coast will get something similar.
So on PS5, I did the southbound run to Crewe from Preston. When I got to Crewe it had me run round the stock, then wait several minutes before I could connect with it to head north. I did so but no 47/4 was inside, and no 20s on the southern end. When time came for departure....nothing. no instructions, nothing at all. So I quit and went to main menu, then chose it on the timetable and when it loaded up the 47/7 was tucked inside and the 20s connected. It's a shame that for skipped over when playing it the first time.
Yes I wondered what would have happened if I kept playing, but impractical for me as the 1Z48 part is nearly two hours so would have run up against the chained service save game bug.
