Yes, that would be me, though it's very incomplete.

I'm not surprised. It sounds like a Sisyphean task.

In the UK "brutally honest" tends to mean that an article is harsh and/or uncompromising, with no regard for upsetting or offending the recipient....a negative but fair approach to describing something, so to speak. A bit like the good old days when people could say what they thought about something without being burned at the stake by liberal apologists.
Sure, when you submit a negative review (as you occasionally do) then "brutally honest" is a fair justification of your overall feelings, but when a review is overwhelmingly positive it's not really appropriate to use the same headline because whilst it's still honest, there's no uncompromising negativity in there to warrant the word "brutally".

Admittedly, I don't watch your videos any more (i'm uncomfortable with DTG aligned creators) but when a route/addon has an across the board positive reception, I do tend to look to see how you could possibly be "brutally honest" about it....only to find that you aren't!
For that reason alone I can probably understand why some see it as being clickbait.

Keeping track of the bugs in TSW is a Sisyphean task, you say?

Hmmmm.... I thought there was something familiar about all this....

I watched the stream yesterday too, which I never usually do.
Because I wanted to see that live weather feature.

And when I saw that DTG can’t even manage smooth transitions in the live weather.
There were also plenty of other errors on the track, as well as bugs that weren’t there on the PC before, and which are now appearing on the PC too.
But that’s exactly how I imagined it would be – DTG are making promises for the seventh time that they can’t keep.

Yes, the Live Weather was exactly the same as the Dynamic Weather.
First the sun was shining, then clouds suddenly popped up, then it turned to rain, and finally the sun came out again.

And these weren’t the smooth transitions you’d expect from Winzarten’s ‘Wetter Toll’, but simply those bloody transitions that DTG never managed to get right.

And nothing at all has been done about the passengers, as DTG promised.
What about the speed-restricted sections? Have they really been improved, or has DTG once again promised something it cannot deliver?

The ‘passenger improvements’ situation is actually quite…sad. What it actually is, is a singular bug fix which addresses an issue where the character dioramas would reduce the amount of passengers spawning.

Very misleading selling point they’ve put forward with that one, and whilst I wouldn’t mind bug fixing over new features (I’d actually prefer it), but at least address the other obvious (and frankly unacceptable when it comes to the suicidal NPC’s) issues with passengers.

I certainly don’t appreciate them fixing the thing they already sold previously, being repacked in an unnecessary new game as a ‘feature’.

Absolutely. It's a provocative thing to say in the UK. When someone in the UK says "I'm going to be brutally honest with you" particularly online it means they're going to say something that they know is bigoted or insulting but they know best and this is how they see it.

So posting a video entitled "Brutally honest" is seen here as a bit of a flex. If the purpose of the video is simply to express a mixture of opinions and start a conversation about it in the comments section, then "Brutally honest" is a bit like using a mallet to open a jar of coffee.
Hence it coming across as clickbait because, you know, "I'm going to tell it like it is because I know best". With the added allure of some controversy. The exact thing that drives engagement online.

Hence me taking one look at that title and feeling (from my UK perspective) that it's a deliberately confrontational, controversial video when all we're talking about is a computer game and in the global scheme of things it's really not that important. So that's why I found it cringeworthy and immediately deleted it from my watch list on You Tube because I'm already struggling against a daily torrent of clickbait with dubious sponsorships.

I appreciate that "brutally honest" might mean something softer, but if I was posting videos in Spanish and someone from Spain messaged me to say "That title, the words you used, comes across as arrogant and/or as clickbait" I'd certainly take that on board if I want my videos to be popular in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries.

It seems the passenger fixes initially (think March/April) included 2 or 3 bigger issues that in the end could not be resolved.

I can understand that, but if that is the case DTG should remove the "passenger fixes" from the TSW 7 feature list.

Seriously, it creates wrong expectations, centers the attention on what wasn't fixed and makes the company look bad.

It’s just another point that displays they can’t fulfil this project with ~12 months of run time.

I certainly hope the next routes look better, because so far the feature set is in the toilet, along with the UI & the US route.

I presume the passenger behaviour where you end up taking a full train of passengers back to the depot at the end of the day isn't one of the things they're fixing?

Most of my experience of the term is when someone is about to say that something you had high hopes for is a huge disappointment, as a "there's no way to let you down gently on this".

Stuff like, "I've got to be brutally honest with you here, he's a great actor, but that doesn't change the fact he is in the Epstein files. Like, a LOT."

I think it's just a cultural thing, we know Americans butcher the language (I tease lol).

TSS doesn't seem the disingenuous type from the vids I've seen. Let's give him a chance and if he still uses the term for positive to middling reviews after, we'll know.

In my opinion, if you're brutally honest about something, then there is not coming anything good. So in case of TSS, I can say to him: to be brutally honest with you, I hate the titles you choose for your youtube vids.

Is DX12 just current "-DX12", or was it somehow tweaked? I remember Matt saying DX12 wasn't ready, so that's why it wasn't an option.
Is it ready now, or is it "let's enable it as is, because epic configs wouldn't work without it"?

In regards to TSS, what I find most useful is his summary streams of the DTG streams. There are a lot of multi-hour streams coming out right now and I don't have time to watch all of them, even though I am interested in most of them.

As far as "brutally honest" is concerned, on the one hand you don't want to turn people off with a title that may not comport to their expectations, but on the other hand, that does have to be balanced with the need to generate views with catchy phrases. At this point it has sort of become his calling card. While I can't say that I would necessarily make the same choices, I haven't found myself put-off by his titles either. Certainly I have found more discussion about him on these forums than for any other streamer, so we cannot say that he isn't making an impression.

I'm now watching the preview stream of the German route, I see screen tearing. Never saw this on previous games. Also it's look like it's not running very smooth, lag at the moment the game is at 60FPS, but also drops to the mid 50s. So good showcase for holding back buying DTG.......

I think it's because of the frame generation. V-Sync doesn't seem to work properly when the driver-side framegen(smooth motion) is enabled.
I just realized that yesterday's 40 fps from the external camera on the Miami route was actually 20 real fps.

It is nothing to do with the game. To use smooth motion VSYNC needs to be ‘on’ in the Nvidia app rather than the game, that is all. There is nothing any different in this regard to any other version of TSW.

Yeah, that yellow in the hud is distracting. An unreal colour messing with the natural, wrecking immersion.
Also catches your eye as to an alert, like speeding.
    Plain white was fine.

I've not seen this on any other preview stream, so don't know what's the difference then. I also notice the GPU is around 50%, the CPU at 20% and I see still see frame drops. This is not how you want to showcase a new game, this is horrible to watch.

I’ve just explained what the issue is, it is not an issue with the game. I believe it’s the first time smooth motion has been used in a stream and a setting has been missed in the app. It is not the end of the world.

also watching, and I have just seen whoever does the stream use non-prototypical LZB/AFB release procedure - I hope they implemented the prototypical solution, otherwise I wont play it much... as far as I know, most if not all locos release like when it hits PZB, you slam AFB to zero and back up, and on most locos/trains you can leave throttle as is, except maybe BR 101 where you also reset throttle

CPU loadind % shows nothing in the modern world, because it shows the total load of all cores and threads, including cores/threads that are not involved in the process in any way, thereby giving 0% on their part.
20% can indicate that 2 cores are dying under load, but 8 cores do nothing at all.

I’d be more stoked to know that with smooth motion the game is absolutely maxed out, using DLAA and running with that much headroom on a 4080 whilst pushing out 60fps. The tearing isn’t ideal but it’s simply a setting in the Nvidia app so try and look past it if you can, I’m sure it will be sorted for tomorrow nights stream.

Like any German route, you name it. In my opinion, in terms of scenery quality, it looks much worse than Miami.
And the stuttering is also very noticeable. Yesterday's Miami went very smoothly.

True, I don't know how well TSW is optimized to run on multi-core CPUs, I don't play on PC.

You did here a very good job man! I'm very happy to play the Mittenwaldbahn with the new settings on the 15!
DLSS Quality with high settings on my RTX 5060 Ti 16gb and 60 fps :D

*Stream: Wurzburg full with trains and still 60 fps!

Disgusting. I somehow accidentally left 3 P-cores and 2 E-cores using the process lasso. The game didn't even notice, and I didn't notice anything either.

They are, but it’s the way gaming has gone and it works damn well.

I'm still curious what the FPS will be without framegen. Miami showed solid drops yesterday from the external camera(meaning the real FPS was about 20). The German route doesn't seem to have any drops.
On today's stream I see plenty of stutters. On yesterday's stream I saw FPS drops from external camera. So not too smooth.

There’s a couple of things I’d say on that.

    1) DLSS/DLAA would ordinarily go hand in hand with frame gen. That’s not possible in UE4 so smooth motion does an amazing job in lieu of that.
    2) For a 4080 to push out a genuine 60fps with those settings and whilst streaming is a big ask. Had the DLSS setting been dropped to ‘Ultra Quality’ the GPU usage wouldn’t have been 100% in the cab and you therefore wouldn’t have seen the drops when you go outside the cab. The best thing is that the image quality would have been virtually identical, not exactly the same but very close.
    3) Smooth motion was not being used yesterday. Those were raw fps figures.

Ps the stutters were down to VSYNC settings. If you look now it’s very smooth

Because that's what Nvidia advertises? I never use framegen, but I always use DLAA if it's available.
Of course, I've tried framegen. It works fine, but I'm not a follower of the "only epic settings, because everything else is for the loosers" sect (I'm not talking about TSW, but about any game).
I want real frames with real responsiveness. No Nvidia Reflex or anything else will eliminate the input lag caused by fake frames when you're not controlling the game.

I completely agree. I'm not trying to win your argument, I'm just sharing my point of view.
Frame generation is a good technology, but I'd like everyone to strive for higher real FPS values, rather than the "if it's not enough, turn on frame generation" attitude.

Nothing very unexpected, overall im looking forward to freight hauler and the new routes. But my biggest ciritc is the low amount of static stock, which is really pointing out, very disappointing for me and a total immersion braker.

--> My suggestion for TSW 8 is a Timetable editor, where players can add static stock on a duplicated saved timetable. Or preferably put services on it.

Just watching the German stream now. Routes looks really good and the ICE4 sounds amazing. The overcast from the live weather also looks very good, but is that only because of the recent enhancements?? A.KA. the ones that sadly won't be coming to console. It looks really good and I hope I'll get to enjoy that.

I'd expect digital-only certification to have a smaller lead time due to a lack of need for physical manufacturing. I tried Google (NOT AI) and got this from Microsoft:
    xbox sla.png

    Source: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/gaming/game-publishing/concepts/certification/certification-guide

A search for Playstation info instead showed tons of hits regarding the new 30-day check-in DRM that I gave up wading through after a few pages. I'd feel safe in assuming the timeframe is probably similar, but it is an assumption.

The money people, I assume. They would have final say on budget and maybe deadlines as well. It's like blaming prison chefs for the quality of the food rather than assuming they're doing the best they can with what they're given to work with.

I didn't see anything bad related to graphics quality or detail in Miami.

The german route looks pretty much like any other german route you have seen lately. I don't think it looks significantly better or worse than any other (epic graphics setting aside).

At the end a wagon derailed after a gentle, successful coupling in freight thingy.

having watched both preview streams, i’d really appreciate if dtg add a setting to revert the ‘stop at location’ and said distance from yellow to white, it’s such an eyesore and personally i have absolutely no desire for it to be that colour. i understand that for accessibility purposes it’ll be useful for many, but for those of us who prefer it as it is, having that option would be nice

The thing with frame generation is that it needs an at least sonewhat decent raw FPS input or you will be in inputlag world. 30 -> 60 may be borderline ok-ish but you will feel that input lag when you try to look around with your mouse ect.

The downside of the stream was, they played the 440 and 442 at dawn, so you not saw the detailing that well. I stopped watching the stream while they played the ICE4 (daytime), due to screen tearing and stutters.

I noticed the use of the same old buildings/houses, you see on every German route, so you got the same kind of look and feel as the other German routes. A lot of those buildings do not have the best quality, looking not very realistic.

On the other hand, the route is kind of in my streets, because of the S-bahn services and the EMU for regional traffic. I like to drive EMUs on commuter services, also the UK seems to get this kind of services.

Unfortunately, there is no discernible leap in quality regarding vegetation and design in DTG’s German routes.

The new route looks just like any other German route from DTG.
