Focus restructured and rebranded as Pullup shortly afterwards but kept the Focus name for their publishing subsidiary for the games they publish themselves but DTG are not part of that subsidiary, they are still a separate entity and still publish their own games. You can see the publisher is Dovetail Games on the TSW product pages on the stores. As parent company Pullup will call the shots financially.

Maybe 50% off the price on release day as a tangible apology and gesture of goodwill for everything thus far would suffice.

To be honest I’m so confused by what comes with what because the PR spin made it all so cloak and dagger, what is the actual benefit for a PS5 user downloading the free pack of TSW7 beyond AI conductor? Genuine question as I’m more concerned it’ll break my existing DLC at this rate

The cursor movement is big for me on PS5, for rushing ahead of the train for a fly-by and most importantly, switching points on the map.

Are we on console getting the fast speed external cam? If so I’ll download it just for that. I agree it makes fly by shots even easier to watch

That's what I've been led to believe. It's possible I've got it wrong, but pc could already do this I think.
    Grab the freebie and see.

You'll need the free game if you want to purchase the future non-core routes going forwards.

From what I've gathered without any of the core routes and with consoles not having any of the advanced visual options, the only things console will get from a free upgrade will be AI Conductor, faster external cam movement, weather 'improvements' and TSR improvements. Genuinely one of the worst upgrades to date for things beyond the core routes, for consoles at least.

I will still stand by the fact that TSW 4's core upgrade, which was what brought us Free Roam, has yet to be beaten. With the way TSW is going I highly doubt it ever will be beaten. Adding such a brilliant core feature while simultaneously being the last full game release before consoles got blurry textures, mounting issues became so severe ect IMO makes TSW 4 a peak in the game's history which it might never reach again at this rate.

    I speak as a Gen9 PS5 user here ..

But I fear with the console side of things, issues like blurring and other issues, have unfortunately become more complex and deep rooted in the game because they were never addressed 'as they happened' so to speak. I appreciate the work that is going on behind the scenes to attempt to remedy this situation and probably more work then we can imagine. But I think the time that has passed on not fixing them as they happened, has led to a snowball effect where as something that could have been a relatively simple fix in the first place, has become more complex as more DLCs and more titles of that game have come out. What could have been maybe a few small issues, has got more complex by other issues from other DLCs and titles, that also contribute to the same problem. It's a bit like having to untangle headphone wires that were left in your coat pocket, it starts off with one knot but then gets more and more complex... I'm beginning to fear there are becoming very limited options that can improve the outcome of Gen9 unfortunately. Don't get me wrong I'm still of the belief it is perfectly capable hardware, but the way the game has been engineered and optimised quite badly (speaking in historic terms, not including the remedy work that's going on) I just think options are beginning to run out to get it to work how we want it too.

It's certainly disheartening to see PC users get the best out of the game, and us console users on Gen9 get what feels like the 'mid range' version. Blurring is still an ongoing issue and I fear I think it's to late in the day to fix it without substantial and noticeable differences being made to the game. But whilst I admit it's disheartening to some extent, I've come to a level of acceptance about it now.

As a PS5 user, I'd maybe consider the leap to PC if a similar principle to Xbox was in place where I could use my Microsoft account to download TSW and all of its accompanying DLC to a PC (which is a very good system. If I've understood correctly that's how it works). The frustrating part is, I'm to far committed now with the PS5 now, so I cannot afford to buy all the UK DLC content again as my library is all on PS5. My hope now, is being patient pays off, and the hope that Gen10 consoles aren't to far on the horizon so I can make a leap and take my library with me to a more powerful system that may just enjoy the benefits PC users are benefitting from.

I've made my bed so I've got to lay in it and I'm far to committed financially and library wise to the console variation and I'd imagine that may be the case for many others. Gen10 is looking fairly promising at the moment, so I'm hoping the jump to newer hardware may just be enough to be able to game with full fat content.

Well, I'm not sure if AI conductor and TSR improvements are coming to old routes - has that been confirmed?

The AI conductor has been explained to be set up that it can work on all trains as a universal thing, where it might not work on older content is in situations where the driver is supposed to open the doors rather than the guard, on such trains the AI will just handle the whole thing anyway. TSR improvements is coming to old routes as the changes have been made to the core of how it works.

The fast cursor movement been a feature in tsw2/3 and 2020 but was removed for some reason in later games on consoles with no explanation as to why and yet this is being sold as a new feature? What a joke

But only with a keyboard. With a gamepad, everything is the same as on consoles.

A few days ago I loaded up The Riviera line, wanted to replicate a 47 hauled Railtour so attempted to spawn in a JT 47 and Mark II set.

Tried being the operative word. Got the "No room in formation" or whatever it is. Either way I couldn't spawn it in. The point of Free Roam is to drive whatever you want when you want.

I really hope Free Roam for TSW7 is fixed so we can indeed drive what we want when we want.

Not sure if I should start a new thread for this but thought I’d ask here first…

I’ve changed platforms this year and this is my first game upgrade on Steam having been on Xbox for 7 years. There’s a couple of things I’d like to know.

First of all, am I right in thinking that there is a way to avoid having to re-download your DLC on steam? I’m sure I saw someone on this forum say it was possible to copy and paste DLC folder to new game but I may have dreamt that.

Also, my game save. So pleased that steam cloud will be supported from 7 onwards as I fell foul of corrupted game saves a few times earlier this year when I was just getting started with Steam. That said, I’m of the understanding that I will still need to do it manually for 6 to 7. Is it just a case of copying and pasting the folder from Documents to the relevant folder on the new game?

Finally, I spent months dialling in my graphics, hardware and ini settings. Will I be able to copy the in game settings across and also, the lines of code I’ve put in my ini, will I be able to just copy and paste that to new game ini?

Thank you in advance to anybody who can help this. Seen a few sarcastic (so unlike this forum) “it’s the same as it is every year” posts in recent days but as I’ve changed platforms, I’ve needed to ask

Yes, you’re right that some users do that, but it does lead to issues. DTG advises reinstalling all DLCs normally, and they really wouldn’t say that if it wasn’t necessary. In fact, DTG would prefer not to use this method either, but at the moment there simply isn’t another way.
Regarding your .ini tweaks: you don’t need them anymore because of the new lighting system and the Epic in‑game settings. You should also consider whether you even want to use .ini modifications, since a lot of things are already pre‑configured now. You can disable the new lighting system and go back to the old method, but I’m not sure what the benefit would be. It’s also possible that certain settings cause crashes due to the performance changes in the game. So I’m afraid it’s no longer a simple copy‑paste situation that just works.

Some people claim you can just copy your TSW6 files to the TSW7 folder and Steam will just download the new files and patch the differences.

I think the files are different enough that you will download everything anyway.

Up to you if you want to try.

The game will ask if you want to import your old profile when you start it the first time.

If you are new to PC I would not mess with config files. Some config options may change from version to version and copying the old save file to the new version may have unexpected results.

It's not officially supported. Do it at your own risk.

TSW7 changes all the maximum graphics settings. Your old ini will need to be adjusted because of this.

Copying files with old settings you don't understand can have unexpected results.
    Do at your own risk

Don't forget console players will also get the garish new UI in the free update. Unless they fix that between now and release.

Just watched the PC epic setting trailer for TSW7. It literally transforms the game completely in graphics, tone of the route. Adds character. Really impressed.

Will doors that are not on the platform remain closed?

Will there be an option to add congestion or traffic during a service?
