Train Sim World 7 August 2026 Roadmap Q&a Thread

As a new TSW6 user, I’m presuming i will get the FREE (upgrade) version… but where and when will the FREE version be available? In the shop or as an update when I turn on my PS5? IVe looked in the store but there’s only an option to register for or buy the 7 version.

This may have been answered elsewhere but I don’t want to spend hours trawling.

 

If it's anything like the past few years it will be available on the storepage of tsw 7 on release day

In one of the streams they said that at least for now it would be on going

So, once you’ve downloaded the free starter pack, it’ll stay in your account forever.

 

Worth clarifying, you don't even need to download it, just claim it. Couple of clicks, don't need to think about it further until you're ready.

Edit because I learned a bit about AWS and I'm not always right!

See below conversation - I didn't realise the roll out was so slow - would it not have covered any of the route, though?

 

AWS in general did exist and a lot of the network was indeed covered in the 80's. Which is represented in the other BR blue routes. But the line that the northern transpennine dlc is based on didn't have AWS yet in 1982. Some other railroads didn't have it up untill the 90's. To compare it to the modern day, ETCS has been installed on a few lines since the early 2000's, yet 20 years later we're still nowhere near full coverage.

 

Are you sure? I could appreciate if some areas wouldn't have it but the larger termini like Leeds, almost certainly will have as it would have been included in a broader ECML scheme?

The only article I can find to date the introduction of it is the DTG article with the initial launch of the route. Conversely, I can see a reference to Leeds - London being done in the early 1960s, something of a contradiction with the DTG article!
I must admit, I didnt realise it took quite so long to roll out the system - I thought it a bit more like TPWS (introduced to a relatively consistent standard within a few years).

Would it not be more likely that AWS would have been sporadically installed across the route, as the transpennine route is, in essence, a patchwork of various different routes? I can also see reference to it being at Manchester Victoria in 1973 (but again, no concrete "it was installed on x date as part of y resignalling scheme).
