DTG needs to give players more control over the dispatcher, such as letting us change a signal from red to clear, control switches, and edit an AI train schedule. For example, I don’t know which service, but on NJT Morristown, a train gets stuck outside Newark Broad Street in the evening going westbound because the signal before the station refuses to turn green. Now you can delete this train, but the next train will be stopped by the signal, and you can't proceed. As a player, I would like the ability to override the DISPATCHER, clear that signal, and allow the AI to proceed to the next waypoint if it's off path. DTG can't fix all the issues that can appear in timetable mode, so the least they can do is give us some power over the dispatcher rather than us ending a service because a signal can't turn from red. IDK, that's just a personal opinion.

+1 on that one if it's possible

They could call it an "experimental" feature for "advanced" players only.

I could see maybe some licensing concerns, though, when somone inevitably uses the override to make trains crash into each other.

Maybe someone from DTG could shine some light on that part?

you probably have to delete more trains to clear up the signal
but yeah even that will not always work
it is a pain sometimes to check luckily i rarely run into this

I personally just remove the trains if I don’t feel like waiting around for awhile. Clears the way pretty quickly.

Overall I do agree with the OP sentiment and idea, would be nice since it would help differentiate a timetable play each time.

The dispatcher needs to lock up a route before it changes the semaphores to green, and the player can't manually control automatic switches (as the game is right now). If players could change the paths the trains follow I think it will mess up all the expected paths and times that the dispatcher uses, making it unable to continue working properly.

Difficult to see how you could do that without incorporating a fully operational signal panel or dispatcher board for the USA. But in principle, yes we should be given some means of sorting out the mess without resorting to deleting trains, or just an option to run the railway as in Run 8.

I think a way of seeing which signal blocks are occupied could be a good alternative. On the live map they could have restricted blocks of track highlighted red. That way you aren’t having to hunt down trains 1by1 & also it avoids what DTG can’t do, which would be overriding a red & potential for train collisions.

That’s the thing by the time I got to Newark broad there were 6 trains piled behind the stuck train and every time I deleted the train ahead it would proceed to get stuck by the red signal. I deleted trains as far as Hoboken and Penn it never changed to clear

This just sounds like a normal summer for NJTransit to me. :)
