I would pick up the Preston- Carlisle but the only the TSW 6 version is showing the sale price and have no intention of paying/ redeeming MS points twice
TSW5 is on Game Pass although it’s leaving soon. I’m not aware of any plans to add TSW7 to Game Pass at this time. It’s certainly not on there currently as far as I can see.
My bad there was a button on the free starter pack beside install that said upgrade to Ultimate. I thought that meant upgrade to Gamepass Ultimate as they sometimes do with other games. But no its upgrade to the Ultimate Edition. Don't worry I will see myself out.
Most likely not, as this is normally not the case on the Xbox store for TSW DLC. Routes are also updated/patched in later versions of the game, so playing them in TSW6 or 7 will give the best experience anyway.
Yes, but playing the routes on older games can give you bugs which already have been fixed in newer versions of the game. So the only reason for playing on older versions of the game are archievements, but U don't care about that.
I do care about that and got refunds for 3 DLCs (Train Sim World® 6: Glossop Line: Manchester - Hadfield & Glossop, Train Sim World® 6: Peak Forest Railway: Ambergate - Chinley & Buxton, Train Sim World® 6: West Cornwall Steam Railtour) after purchasing them in a previous sale and realising they only worked with TSW6
It’s totally not like they said they weren’t going to be compatible from day one of tsw 6, it wasn’t a secret or anything
it was before I was active on here and I wasn’t hanging on every word of the dovetail directs, it was only after I bought them assuming they’d work like previous DLCs I’d bought that I googled it and found out they weren’t compatible so I got a refund. That stance from dovetail makes it even stranger that they wouldn’t include the older versions in sales. Especially when some of the older routes have been improved so you’d be playing more for an inferior version than the upgraded version on sale.
Agree 100%. I'd love to mop up some of the outstanding achievements from TSW4 DLC, TSW5 DLC etc. but it's unreasonable to have to pay RRP for the DLC when I can get exactly the same DLC for 50% off or more for TSW6 in a sale. I suspect that killing off the DLC back compatibility has probably cost DTG more than they realise. Certainly both you and I have kept money in our pockets that would otherwise be in the DTG coffers as a result.
If you buy the discounted version for TSW6 and then it'll acknowledge that you own it for TSW7 and let you download it. At least that's how it was for me on XBox.
Are there going to put more add ons on sale the ones I like is the Medway valley line and the Avanti evero class 805 but there should put them on a sale before it ends it would be nice and I would buy them straight away if the Medway valley line comes down to about £20.99 like the Birmingham to crewe and the Avanti class 805 that should come down to at least a £9 hope dovetail will do this
maybe next time, but nothing more will be added to this sale. end of november there’s usually a good sale so there’s a decent chance you’ll be able to get at least one of those on discount
It was communicated when TSW 6 launched. It was never communicated after the launch of TSW5, that any discounts for TSW5 content will only be available during that year, because after that nothing will ever show in the store. For example look below: *Had I known* that this route will only be available with a discount for TSW5, because entitlements for it won't carry back from TSW6 and TSW7 - I woudl have bought it at one of the sales you see. Unfortunately, DTG did not disclose that this is how the product will work going forward, and I did not participate in that sale, as I hoped it wouldn't be the final one. Yeah, but both of those versions are castrated. The "full experience" allows the player to collect achievements, and the only version with this feature is the TSW5 one. So no, thank you, I don't want this route (or any otherm, for that matter) in a version that doesn't include all the features. If we talk about things like Manchester Airport Commuter - that I don't care, there are no features cut from TSW5. But proper routes with achievements? Only TSW5 for me!
The only thing you got from an archievement is the annoying sound of the pop-up, it really don't add anything to the gameplay.
You can send me an angry face But when you think about it, the only thing archievements do, is give a pop-up with sound and somewhere telling you did something. In my opinion it's meaningless. If you not want to play without archievements, you holding back yourself from playing a route or paying to much money.
That other gamers care about it, still doesn't change the fact it's not adding anything to the gameplay. It's just a mind thing, to get some meaningless reward for something you did. You can't do anything with that reward, it gives you nothing more then a pop-up. So I really can't understand the mindset of not getting an achievement is making it not fun to play.
Thing is, when we play TSW we're not actually doing anything meaningful. We're just pretending to drive an imaginary train. But we enjoy it anyway. So as someone who likes to move pixels around a screen for no good reason can you not see the irony of telling somebody that playing to gain achievements is meaningless? It's no more meaningless than playing the game! People compete with eachother for gamerscore, and completionists love trying to get all the achievements - it's part of the fun. So when achievements aren't included in the DLC it takes some of the fun away. Not that hard to understand really.
Playing simulator games for me means learning how to do it like irl and to get more knowlegde how things work irl. I wouldn't call that meaningless and I also get some relaxation while playing. Competing with each other and having to complete a whole game, is just a mind thing, it don't change a thing about the routes and the game itself. But we're never gonna agree with each other, for that our mindset is to different. Archievements don't give me any reward at all, the pop-up is nothing more then annoying
Interesting take. The only thing you get from in-train announcements is an annoying sound clip. Yet some people care about those. There is no real gameplay impact, though. The only thing you get from licenses is that you get the official livery, which is just a pixel skin for your pixel train, that also doesn't change the gameplay in the slightest, yet people don't like unbranded content. And so on, and so on. Some people enjoy these things, however, so putting in some effort to understand that others' enjoyment might come from other things than yours, and that you do not somehow own the only correct way to enjoy the game, would be a pretty good trait to exhibit, especially in a discussion forum. We KNOW that. That's why we bring this up, because there are two ways DTG could cater to people like us, but they choose not to. It's still a thing to complain, as their actions are anti-consumer. The whole immersion coming in the train sim is a mind thing. Hell, any enjoyment of anything is a mind thing. The enjoyment from liveries and announcements is as well, as it doesn't change a thing about routes and the game itself. Achievements give you something that you personally don't care about. And that's fine, I also don't care about numerous aspects of TSW that others are passionate about. I don't tell them that they are wrong to rant about historical inaccuracies or liveries that I don't care about - to each their own.
