Hi, Idk if this has already been asked but I’m curious about whether or not tsw5 will be staying on the game pass once tsw6 releases? Because I haven’t actually bought the wcml but I did buy the class 390, so I’m curious to whether or not that it’ll be removed from game pass, last year they announced tsw4 was leaving in like July, it’s now 2 days until tsw6 gets fully announced and there hasn’t been anything saying tsw5 is getting taken off. Thanks in advance!
As happened with all others 5 will become history on gamepass, 6 will either be a day one gamepass game or will land on it after a few months, both scenarios have happened in the past......
If TSW5 goes from Gamepass, as is likely, then the base routes will also go. You would need to purchase WCML to continue playing it. If TSW 6 is on Gamepass either on release or in the future, then the base routes for this will be playable (presumably excluding any “deluxe” edition DLC). Don’t forget to pick up the free TSW6 starter pack anyway even if you use the Gamepass version.
It seems TSW6 isn’t joining game pass as TSW5 is remaining on game pass. Personally I think thats a bit of a kick in the teeth but at least we have a free starter pack
So this is leaving Game Pass soon, and I can't find any communication from DTG regarding this. What gives? Also, I would expect a game like this after two years on the service to run some kind of hail Mary sale, but... Of course
They updated the FAQ on Tuesday. Will Train Sim World 5 remain in Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus? Update: Train Sim World 5 will be leaving Xbox Game Pass on the 15th September 2026. Whereas, Train Sim World 5 will remain PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium Game catalogue for the time being.
Ha ha ha - typically yes, but this is TSW we’re talking about! There’s currently a big DLC sale ongoing on XBOX, incidentally. I have to admit I did do my usual check for TSW content but unsurprisingly there was none.
So I assumed that the Free Starter Pack meant (free) and i could always play TSW 5, routes ive imported and routes ive bought for money. It seems free is not free and ive lost all access to TSW 5(imported and bought routes). Is this right? So i cant genuinely play routes for TSW5 i bought. Nowhere does it mention Free expires. Basic game is like 45 euro.
It works like this in order to get the free routes you need own the relevant years game for example tsw4 to tsw5 and so on that's how you unlock the next games backward route compatibility
Not totally sure what you mean. Its a Free starter pack so i could play TSW4 and beyond and also buy TSW5. I appreciate i can play them in 6 and 7 but removing this ''Free'' starter pack removes a whole game and the achievements i didnt complete. All this with no warning.
I’ve just encountered this issue with them removing the free starter pack for TSW5 meaning I can’t access the game, annoyingly as it was on gamepass I hadn’t “bought” the free starter pack ♂️
your compatible content doesn’t carry across to the latest edition unless you actually own the game under which they were most previously installed, so just ensure you own all the relevant games first. bear in mind that the starter pack was only introduced for tsw5 as well
That's only the case on PS, where you first have to claim the DLC for every version upto the latest. On Xbox you just own them for all versions, no need to claim or do anything else.
That's incorrect. Everything you've ever purchased from TSW2020 onwards will carry forward to newer versions of the game. Also: To clarify a couple of things in what is becoming a very confusing thread: (1) TSW5 routes played as part of gamepass cannot be brought forward into TSW6 & TSW7 because you don't 'own' that content....you're just accessing it via a subscription. Addons you paid for whilst playing TSW5 in gamepass CAN be brought forward into 6 & 7 because you own them. (2) The TSW5 "Standard edition" is on gamepass. This includes the free starter pack (which is the core game and nothing else) and three routes. The free starter pack is so named because it was originally available as a separate download **for a limited time only** (to allow people to carry their library forward without having to purchase the full game) and then delisted without it's name ever been changed...and is now impossible to own because it no longer exists outside of paid versions of TSW5. There was never anything free in there anyway, it was just an empty box which you filled up with stuff you owned.
Feel like someone ought to point out that Train Sim World 5 left the Game Pass service a few days ago on September 15. This is normal and things leave and join the service regularly. https://www.purexbox.com/news/2026/...ass-is-losing-10-games-this-week-september-15 Of course if you were relying on Game Pass to play it you would no longer have access. If you bought the Standard, Deluxe or Special editions, or claimed the free starter pack, you should still have access. As others rightly point out, if you didn't, but did purchase DLC, you can claim the Train Sim World 7 starter pack for free and your purchased DLC will carry over https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/store/train-sim-world-7-free-starter-edition/9nlx1c7rrbrp
Not directing at you but I think you are missing my point, i wasnt relying on GP to play TSW5 i was relying on the FREE starter pack ive been using i guess for 12 months. I forgot i hadnt bought any version of the game (Standard, Deluxe or Special) but assumed as i had the FREE starter pack i could play TSW5 with routes i own/bought. I understand the hierarchy of the games but my specific point is still i cannot now play TSW 5 because FREE starter has gone from GP. Nowhere on the starter pack does it say it will remove your ability to play the game if we suddenly delist it.
Sorry I should’ve been clearer. I was responding to the “On Xbox you just own them for all versions”. Every DLC will carry forward to future versions, however my point was DLC’s from TSW5 or earlier granted you access to previous versions, DLCs for TSW6 only carry forward.
The free starter pack wasn't technically on game pass. The standard edition was. Yes that includes the free starter pack, but you still had to claim the free starter pack when you could if you wanted to at least own that. You won't have lost anything you did purchase/claim, and if that happened you should reach out to Microsoft support. EDIT; The free starter pack was a time locked claimable item. If you've only been playing tsw 5 for 12 months you won't have it. As I said, download the TSW 7 free pack and all purchased content will carry over
This is the orrect answer. Obviously you needed to "buy" the free pack for free when it was available. Only then it was "yours". You could grab the Standard Edition and play on Game Pass even a week ago, but that wouldn't make you "own" the starter pacj. The Game Pass game did include that, but as a subscription. So if you didn't really get it while it was available, then you were screwed. Now, I can see how TSW7 being Gen9 only screws anyone out of playing on Gen8, but it is on the player to pick this up. The fact that the system is complex doesn't help, sure. I blame DTG, as there is nothing that warranted an expiration date on the TSW5 and TSW6 Free packs. Good they came to their senses with number seven, sucks that they screwed people on Gen8 in the process.
