I have a question that maybe someone that owns the Expert 101 and this route can answer for me.

If you own the Expert 101, does it substitute in timetable services in Journey mode?

cwf.green thought it would but then Lukas said in the Q&A that it wouldn't, so I'm not 100% sure which is the correct answer.

This certainly does not come across as the level of quality expected in a £30 release. Some of the issues being described should have been caught by the developers’ own internal snagging, let alone before submission to DTG’s erratic and “wave it through” QA!

I just started the timetable service in the second journey chapter, and it spawned me in the Expert BR 101. Which is a good thing. If this is consistently applied throughout all chapters, I might actually finish it :)

That's what I wanted to know. Thanks.

I also wouldn't play all the journey with the normal 101. There is a higher chance I will get this route at some point now.

Good morning, I don't see the freight wagons on the "Unusual Freight" scenario! Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Bought, tried, refunded. Nice route but the run in the ICE is way too short, trip seems over just after it started. FPS bad along the route (~45 fps with 9800X3D+RTX4090) Desperately needs to go to Munchen, hopefully one day it will. I would pay more for the full length route provided the numerous QA and performance issues are resolved, with some new rolling stock rather than recycled. Probably asking a lot, but high speed routes need more km.

    Isn't that twice the length?
I can't see them doubling the route in the future.
Another route perhaps yes but I don't see them doubling it.

Not only twice the length but way more stations, a long four track section, and a massive terminus with a long 10-track approach and an underground section.

Which (personal taste) is great. Better than sitting for an hour, only acknowledging SIFA. I like this type of sevices, and the mix with the Münex, s Bahn and freight services.

This one made me laugh:D But if you do the maths of this route (like 80km with 300kph) this is simply what you get (and, honestly, could have been clear before a refund;))! And I am still loving it. And this is coming from a guy who usually likes it slow, long and steady - thank you very much, as I really like my long fright runs (have done all fright services on KWG - no joke).

I really like the representation of the landscape. I only wish they could populate the motorway more, it’s just too quite…

It is a nice route and I could probably live with the short high-speed stints, but when I took into consideration the other shortcomings I just could not justify 35.99€. If it eventually pops up heavily discounted in the future I may give it another go, hopefully it will have a patch or two by then.

To me the best high speed routes are those that combine that with regular running on more mixed lines. This seems to provide that - a bit at least - so I am tempted by that, but waiting due to the nervousness that comes with new releases, and a growing wishlist (within and without TSW).

    I agree about the wishlist…
I’m no particular order we have:
    Transport Fever 3
    Coaches for ETS2.
    Iceland for ETS2.
    Cars for ATS.
    Whatever is next for SimRail.
Brocken Mountain for TSC in the next sale.
I want to give Running Train another try now I have a better GPU.
The London add on for The Bus, though that is muted by the fact there will be no London buses coming with the add on.
There’s a new Eastern European tram sim about to hit early access.
And last but not least, DTG’s competition with their own DLC - TSW7 and its route pack.

With Steam Gift Cards now rapidly vanishing from UK supermarkets I am carefully managing my hobby spend so as not to incur the displeasure of my wife!

    You’re not the only one.
Whenever I buy a new DLC, the first thing I do is check which freight trains I can drive.
And actually, I usually go straight on to drive my first freight train, and even after that I generally much prefer driving freight trains to passenger trains.

Half an hour with an ICE at full speed sounds like the sweet spot, if you ask me :) Will probably pick this one up later.

Confirmed. After third time audible SIFA, you have to reset the throttle to regain traction. Really curious: is this prototypical?

the succession, as far as I perceived it in this DLC with ICE3 was - first an icon, then first audible warning, then second audible warning... here if you acknowledge, you should still be clear, but somewhere between second and third audible warning, throttle locks... then third warning and if you fail to acknowledge that, half a second or second after a Zw. ensues

difference between this one and others so far (havent really tried with 101 Expert, so no idea when it does what with Sifa except Zw.) is that in most cases, it only punishes you if you fail to acknowledge third audible warning... here it starts punishing you after second, and applies brakes after third

as I said, this is with new ICE3... havent tried expert 101, which I bet is prototypical for that loco... like if it only applies Zw. after which warning (just know that Zw. in that case usually means stop :D )

Good morning, on the Munich-Nürnberg Express train, specifically in the IC Steuerwagen, when I raise the pantograph, it doesn't indicate active voltage, as if it were off. The battery is active, the circuit breaker is closed, and the 101 at the end has the ZWS button active. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Maybe there is no Mastery, if the person that made the route decided not to include a Mastery, then there is no Mastery

I received a response from support, it became clear that there is no mastery for it.
    Hi Imre,

Thank you for reaching out to us today.
Unfortunately, there are no mastery challenges for Nürnberg - Ingolstadt or new routes moving forward.

To learn more please check out the Train Sim World 7 FAQ.

    Kind Regards,

    Chris
    Player Experience Manager
    Dovetail Support

How will Mastery be changing in Train Sim World 7?
Monthly mastery challenges will continue to take place and reward players with unlockable posters that can be viewed in-game.

However, we’ve made the decision to end challenges for new routes, to focus on a more seasonal approach.

Mastery challenges for existing routes will remain in place and you can contribute progress towards these challenges in any compatible game, on any supported platform.

My god, I hate the BR403 from this DLC, I have never been more frustrated with the AFB braking curve in an LZB zone than I have in this train. Maybe having to manually brake or adjust the throttle is more realistic, but the aggressiveness with which it enforces an automatic stop if you don't brake fast enough just feels absurd. I've tried this train on the new TSW 7 route and it enforces a braking penalty within 3 seconds, even when I try to manually brake to save it, and even if I catch it before the automatic stop penalty, it will then proceed to play "Storung" periodically for the rest of the route with no apparent way to shut the error warning off. I've even tried this on the older, more flat routes and the AFB still has an issue with keeping to the speed limit without triggering the automatic stop. ICE trains have always been my most favorite and fun trains to drive, but this one, despite the great sounds, is like putting nails under my fingernails...one of my least favorite to drive on any German route.

All these years I am playing TSW (and other sims) I'm reading everywhere: "The real train drivers don't use AFB for braking a train" and now we maybe see a true reason for that.

Yeah well I guess its too abrupt or not abrupt enough in many scenarios?
But still glad we have it. Poor UK drivers with so many trains missing this feature. Especially lovely going 5mph down or up a slope

You're supposed to brake yourself from the beginning rather than waiting until AFB can't do it, especially when in steep gradients or significant speed reductions, in order to avoid this.

Also ICE3 & 3M apparently have different braking systems to ICE 1 and ICE T (not sure about ICE 4) so brakes have a bit of a lag to engage but once engaged I think they're more powerful.

I have found out that AFB braking isnt as firm as before, and therefore if it is braking a major speed difference, it may be too slow for LZB, and while it doesnt seem to trigger Zwangsbremsung, it still sometimes locks throttle... so I started braking on my own

Yeah, I had figured that out a while ago, and have been trying to do that (plus keeping the throttle off MAX in the first place and adjusting it to the gradient), it's just sometimes the braking curve is so quick, and the system simultaneously locks up so quickly, that it still gets me despite my best efforts. I love the sounds on it, it's just feels a little too touchy compared to what I'm used to with the other ICE trains.

Shouldn't you keep the throttle at maximum so the AFB works properly? I always stick the throttle to max and let the AFB (combined with LZB) do its thing. On this route I rarely have to apply extra braking to make the braking curve, only in averse weather conditions.

Theoretically you can already break as soon as the red G Lights up. This is a Pre-warning that you have to break any moment and with this the Braking curve is not steep

AFB works no matter what throttle you have, as far as I know... LGV has that speed control that works depending on power setting

Hmm you could be right (also for the speed set on the class 465). I always followed the procedure as laid out in the LZB tutorial (on KWG). So I dont't know if its required. I do know however that applying less throttle doesn't contribute to making the brake curve. I just apply extra train brake when electronic braking isn't enough to stay withing the braking curve (as instructed in the tutorial).

Like I said, I haven't found it necessary on this route to apply extra braking. I did however notice that the ICE1 sometimes needs some extra support as the electronic brake is less strong than on the ICE3..

Only on the somewhat harrowing LZB exit towards Ingolstadt (LZB ende, PZB acknowledge and PZB braking curve to 85) it needs some extra stopping power :)

Yeah, I think it's a combination of the train itself and the route, Nurnberg-Ingolstadt has really steep gradients and they change suddenly. What's worked for me, as I think others mentioned, is start braking as soon as the red G light comes up. I also tend to set the throttle to zero as soon as I see there's a change in speed coming plus setting the brakes to 1B or sometimes 2 when I see AFB is applying full electric brakes and speed doesn't come down.

To be fair I've had similar experiences with the 3M on Ludwigsbahn.

Driving with LZB on a train without AFB (like with the Münex cab car) helps a lot with improving your skill and managing the brake curve. I have found this to be pretty challenging on this route. Especially keeping to the timetable while doing this :)

The TGV and also the BR143-family trains, both apply more electric brake to maintain the selected speed if the power selected is higher, also the BR155 has a lever specifically for electric brake power (though no way to select speed at all).
But I believe that's all, and no train with a proper de-facto "AFB" has a way to influence with how much power the electric brake is applied by it, at least ingame so far.
Effectively, for those trains, throttle off should give the same braking as any nonzero level, up to full.

And to add, the challenge of driving the BR111 or cab car on the Allersberg express is even better. Managing those gradients with the tap changer is hard :)

Does that also mean that it doesn't matter where the throttle is and that you have to use the train brake to make the brake curve if electronic braking is insufficient? Doesn't matter anyway, you still have to put the throttle to off after using the train brake, before taking power again :)
