I get it, because it really feels like a game changer to me, the best feature by far. I wasn't massively looking forward to this new iteration but the new graphical features really do immerse the player. Hopefully they'll sort something out.

Driving a HST on GWE last night was the best experience I have ever had with TSW. Buttery smooth and great lighting on a busy route.

I really hope they can sort something out for consoles so they can experience it too.

But certainly I don't feel the new version is slop. I will add the Leeds route at some point and can't wait to see what the AAB and JT routes look like. Be interesting to see what the Tadami line looks like.

I do agree with others that the UI colours aren't ideal. Although I've never been a big fan of the menus.

I'm on XBOX Series X and have to say that the night lighting on the new Airedale route is great and the route is running well in general even though I've downloaded all but one of the compatible layers.

Gamepad sensitivity is all over the place, though - absolutely horrible. It's sluggish to start - like walking through treacle - and then far too fast all of a sudden. No amount of tweaking in the menus solves all the issues. I wish we could go back to TSW6 gamepad settings....

    Oooh hard pass.
I'm in the opposite camp entirely. I want a game that's simpler and works rather than chasing every cool new bell and whistle.
I'm betting the player base is pretty well split too, hence it's a hodge podge.
DTG can't just ignore huge parts of the player base, so they "play the middle" as most companies do trying to keep no one entirely happy but enough people tolerating it to keep coming back.
    If it sells, that's success.

I think the tl:dr of it is, for some of us at least TSW7 is quite horrible and if you’ve not invested in the new routes there is not much advantage over TSW6, not with the poor performance console and users of older PC’s are experiencing.

And one somewhat tinfoil musing. When I briefly dabbled with the Deluxe version before refunding and downgrading to the free one, I could swear performance was a bit better. So either something changed with the release day patch or could it be the free edition is slightly nerfed?

More likely the default “advanced settings” could be different, but I doubt it. They have a hard enough time managing console vs PC, never mind free vs deluxe etc :D

I got the freebie + DLC loaded by mid-afternoon yesterday and I’ve since been experimenting with all the settings to see how they affect my PC - I noticed that swapping through the Fullscreen to Windowed to Windowed-Fullscreen options resets all the other stuff each time. Initial “wow, that’s gone from 15fps to 55fps” amazement replaced by the realisation “ah, low quality shadows” etc…

Not that I’m complaining- it’s been a really good way of learning how each of the settings interact with each other. I was initially disappointed with 7 because 6 was working just fine for me and initial impressions with 7 were that it looked great but it was much slower. It took a few Warrington->Newton-le-Willows runs in a 142 on both versions of the game to compare and learn how the settings interplay, but now I’m very happy with the end results. Nice one DTG!*

Surprise find of the day: my old 6Gb 2060 doesn’t seem to like DX12 very much. Runs very erratically compared to DX11. I know it’s a bit long in the tooth as GPUs go these days, but in this game at least it’s struggling now. More research to do on that one, then…

    * mind, I’m still not buying anything apart from Carlisle-Whitehaven outside of sales until there’s real movement on the unissued Pile Of Patches, especially the 805 cab :D

I'm on PC so I realise consoles are having a worse time.

It doesn't mean the game is horrible or slop for everyone or even most. TSW7 now for me is the best it's ever been, it looks great graphically and I've never known it run as smoothly. Yes it has issues and there are bugs which need addressing but most runs I've done so far if there have been issues they have been minor. I think the some overdue features like the automated guard mode and the ability to have safety systems enabled aid immersion. I think this is the best release so far and I'm far from the only one with the same opinion especially if you go outside this echo chamber.

However I understand why console owners don't feel the same and I would feel fed up too if I was them, although again there seem to be plenty still happy with the new version.

Everyone should have their own opinion and be free to express it and it isn't right to try and shut down debate, however I feel a lot of people accusing others of trying to shut down debate are doing so themselves.

Judging by some of the rumbustious responses on this thread there seem to be people who don't seem to accept the fact that some of us are enjoying TSW7 as well as those who don't like the moaning.

I know one thing, if I thought TSW was as bad as some on here clearly do I would uninstall it and I wouldn't waste my time visiting forums for a game I had no desire for. I certainly wouldn't spend money on it. I've only ever refunded once as I don't buy DLC on spec!

Getting nice results on a very old pc (i7 7700k, gtx 1080) using the frame gen thingy in the menu (I had no idea my card could do this) getting 30 fps counter in ue4 doubling to a steady 60fps even at busy areas. Using a setting (FSR,native AA ,frame gen and dx12) which does give a little bit of shimmer at times but I actually don't mind this as it gives the world a bit of a lively lived in feel, especially in wet dank conditions (weird I know). Most settings ultra/epic/high apart from shadows/fog (med). View dist high, any more and get nasty fps drop. Of course I can't run in anything more than 1080 res (would get 15fps) but it looks nice to me on a normal size monitor. Prefer 60fps over quality anyway. The vegetation now looks much better/realistic with the enhanced lighting etc.
Noticed the frame gen is excellent at low speed (great for entering busy stations) , but can get slightly jittery at high speed, but ok for me.
Would love a new PC for 4K, but really can't justify the cost at the moment, and maybe the prices could even go higher with all this AI stuff - potentially could be priced out of a new PC for years maybe? Sad to think that.

Also enjoying TSW 7 so far , really liking the UK route , and the graphical improvements. Noticed the GSMR on the 331 has improved functionality when you contact signaller it shows on the gsmr with response ‘wait ‘ if applicable . I am on PC so agree this release seems to have been better for us compared to Console . Yes are there some issues , and hopefully future patches will address them . It’s never going to be perfect on release .

Same here, for me TSW7 runs significantly smoother than TSW6 when carrying over same graphics preset (Ultra), with DLSS I no longer need to increase screen percentage and GPU usage is 50-75% now while before it was rather 75-100% and that's with FPS capped at 35 in both cases. Less stutters as well.

I was tempted to try Epic settings but that proved a bit much for my system. Still, with enhanced lighting it looks a lot better in Ultra than it did before.

Also, really like the AI guard, while it isn't perfect (buzzes are inconsistent) it allows me to run without toggling/untoggling the HUD at every station to get all passengers in.

I haven't tried Epic yet. I don't know whether it might be too much for a 4060 card. I have a mixture of ultra and high and that looks really good. Drove a HST last night on GWE during evening rush hour in September clear weather, the lighting was incredible. I've never enjoyed it so much.

Vern, with the greatest possible respect, take that tinfoil hat off and burn it with fire; it's the same game, all the Deluxe edition does is grant additional DLC. I've got the free starter edition and am getting great performance on my PC, at better visual fidelity than on TSW6 thanks to the new graphic settings and lighting.

I had this. I bypassed it by going to the online web store, and selected each of the free versions of TSW7 DLC i owned in 6. Make sure it says FREE! You then have to go into each one, one by one, and click on ‘download to library’.

Then on PS5 main menu, don’t open TSW7 but just put your cursor on it, press the little pill shaped button to the right of the controller pad to bring up the menu and select ‘Manage Game Content’. You’ll see all the content you selected from the online web store ready to be downloaded. Select the down arrow to install.

    Good luck I’m still downloading!

Of course downloading all the DLC would be helped if when you search on the PlayStation Store webpage for ‘train sim world 7’ you didn’t get stuck on page 1 (the navigation links to other pages doesn’t work!). So another work round is you either search for the DLC you know you have ie ‘train sim world 7 Bakerloo’, or you edit the url on the first search page by adding a slash and a page number eg /2. Once on page 2 the navigation works fine.

yeah, it’s easy updating all your DLC each year. :(

    Good afternoon folks,

Quite a few comments in here are getting quite heated, so I will ask to please remember to keep discussions respectful. If personal attacks continue, this thread will be closed.
Constructive criticism is valid, but the conversation between some users has shifted from criticising the game to criticising each other in a very unhealthy way, and this has no place here.

We continue to gather your feedback and are in the process of prioritising reported issues for our upcoming patches. Keep an eye on our announcement channels, where we share news on updates and changelogs, as we have done with the three recent updates.

We will review the comments here and take action where appropriate.

    All the best,
    Jan

I've gone through this thread to remove those posts that were antagonistic and contained attacks towards other users, including posts from both sides of the argument.
There are plenty of critical posts in here, including those from you Bryer. You are free to share your criticisms, but please do so in a respectful way.

Maybe you are using legacy (or something like that) gamepad setting? If you are on steam you can also try to disable, enable or default Steam input in TSW properties > controller on Steam. Works fine here with an Xbox controller on PC.

For a user that is on this forum for a long time you should know better Bryer. Believe me, i'm also grumpy (Grumpy cat profile pic for a reason :) ) as heck but just dont bother getting tricked in those coversations that lead to insults or being rude (towards a user). Why waste your time on that stuff anyway?

Maybe you're right, but none of the posts were anything but observations on someone's point of view, yet the person and post I was replying to have stayed in situ even though they are attacking someone else's point of view.... Baffled....

And also some of my feedback posts have been deleted that had no mention of other users in them. Jan yet again you've overstepped the mark between moderation and censorship. You've just deleted about 5 posts with constructive criticism within them and then a small part in 2 of them to a particular user. Should have edited out the bits aimed at the other user (which was done in a manner I wouldn't call offensive, again we've had this discussion before about the DTG use of the delete button).

If DTG don't like the truth, they shouldn't ship faulty products.

No idea, maybe it was an oversight. I wouldn't care too much about it tbh. Anyway, it's getting offtopic too much.. And no, i'm not done yet, just returned from being done a year. :)

<pedantmode> You most often see it spelled "Occam," but I think "Ockham" is preferable. William of Ockham was an English Franciscan monk and philosopher. Since he wrote in Latin he rendered his name "Occamus" - but that makes "Occam" a half-arsed re-Anglicisation of a Latinisation of an English name. </pedantmode>

Maybe you can do a restore licenses in the PS5 settings (Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses.) No idea if that helps.

Pretty sure they’re talking about the in-game store. The PS Store is fine.

The in game store would take much longer to get all your DLC back anyway, not sure why you’d opt to do it that way.

I think you should consider getting 7 if only for updates and patches for all the content you've already purchased..if they come.
I got the free upgrade this time and ended up buying just the UK route.
Tsw7 has quicker load up times, back to main menu.
More adjustability for graphics and a usable field of view option.
Sound seems better than previous with less popping and clicks,so far.
There's a few other useful options like starting with the safety systems on.

    Here’s my ten cents/pence/euro cents.

I try to stay as positive as possible. Partly as a general rule to help with my MH and there’s more than enough negativity in this world going around already. I also like to stick to the whole be nice to others, they’ll be nice to you. That probably makes me naive - but that’s ok.

The past couple of years I’ve chosen to get the free upgrade to the next iterations, partially to save money, partially because US content doesn’t scratch the itch, but also to “vote with my wallet” and be very selective with what I buy.

That being said I loaded up TSW 7 for the first time tonight, looking forward to finally being able to play without spending a minute turning on safety systems (console joysticks are a b-word). I thought - again probably naively - that this being a new iteration of the game, some better experiences to be had, despite noticing in passing some issues fellow console users had been having.
I start with a HST run from Paddington to Reading, and find the track joint sounds are buggy, only a single clunk rather than the expected two, it also sounds more like someone hitting a cardboard box with a rolling pin than a steel wheel over steel rail.
Tried a couple of Voyager runs, one from Plymouth, another from Crewe, I don’t remember the the running sounds sounding like someone had dispensed with the rolling pin and had instead put a wet sponge into the cardboard box and were frantically shaking said box.
Not wanting to admit defeat I tried the 171 on the ECW Remaster, the almost imperceptably quiet DVD sounds and weird engine noise distortion still seems to be an issue from way back when the SCR 170 released.
So I stubbornly tried the XC and WMR 170s on both BCC and the Wolverhampton to Bham leg of Crewe to Bham. Apparently there’s an issue with those where the cab is a blurry mess and every single sound from levers/buttons to warning systems are delayed by a second!?
I think I’ll just crawl back under my rock and wait for Firefly’s 466 & Sheerness Branch.
    Sorry for the essay.

Edit: Oh yeah, I lost access to all of the German/Austrian/Swiss content I used to own as well, but I just don’t have the resilience right now to fight Sony about it, so I’ll probably just cut my losses with that.

I'll bet the Playstation 8 users can't wait to finally see the back of blurry textures in TSW31!

I bet they also can't wait to re-download the 4tb of addons from TSW30.
On a positive note though, if gamers need any extra storage in order to install the entire game they can put a couple of SSD's in the space where the disc drive used to be;)

We'll all have been replaced by AI by then anyway, so it won't really matter.

As I understand it, on PS5 you have to go into each TSW7 version of the DLC you own and 'buy' it for free. If that isn't showing as free, maybe contact DTG support? You should certainly never accept just losing DLC, let alone buying it again, because of DTG insisting on this annual rigmarole.

It'll only give you a out of memory; requiring a restart if you go too far with the settings .
After four hours, I have to conclude it's a step forward for the franchise.
Can't use DLSS with the enhanced lighting,my old 2070 super just can't cope. Probably my ten years old processor (Ryzen 3600)
Don't know how they'll manage the GPU processing on the consoles, but they at least deserve the option.
Now let's start seeing 3rd party updates in a more timely fashion this year.
I'll be happy if that happens during tsw7.

Sounds like you are in a similar boat to me! Having to accept the latest iteration is not going to be playable at full resolution and settings on older hardware! :)

I did actually rage uninstall last night but cooler head today, now I have to start putting it all back on, or at least a curated selection… In the meantime, got the 1.61 update for ATS and ETS2 to sort out. Really hoping too the Coaches add on isn’t too far away. Rumour mill has it maybe with 1.62 in a couple of months or by Christmas. Really looking forward to that, especially if we can set up a proper network rather than just abstract runs like the trucks.

I'm not on epic settings as I don't think my computer will handle it. It's a mixture of high with a couple of ultra settings with DLSS and enhanced lighting. It still looks and runs better than TSW6.

I've tried Epic settings again and it seems to be working better than before (I may not have been using DLSS the first time I tried Epic setup), no noticeable fps drop but higher gpu usage though.

However, I guess because I'm limited to 1080p by my monitor, I actually don't see much (if any) improvement so I'll probably revert back to Ultra .

    I've got a RTX5060 8gb GPU btw.
