I often get red signals that absolutely will not change, even after waiting, contacting dispatcher and deleting every other train on the track. It's kind of set me off from wanting to do these as you do all that work then can't get to the destination to complete it. I have noticed it's the worst on the newer routes. Have very few signal issues on older routes.
No idea what the issue is.
    "Stuck signals?"
    Imaginary trains maybe?
Your suggestion of having to set multiple shorter destinations is... creative but still not something we should have to do. That's what the whole point of the automatic dispatcher is.
Maybe there should be a way to "override" dispatcher to get "priority movement" for the player or something like that if requested?
Or a way to ignore stuck red signals and proceed at caution instead of automatic "SPAD"?
Most of the modern switches aren't controllable so we can't manually throw them if needed.

Well the timetable is the real timetable so it wouldn't really be realistic to make the player service the priority. For example freight wouldn't be priority in real life compared to passenger

Yeah but in the same breath a local NJT train wouldn’t get priority over an Amtrak Acela but the dispatcher doesn’t agree

in the US and Canada it is the other way around, hence so many delays for passenger trains IRL :D
