PC Got Some Steam Cards To Spend For My Birthday. Medway Valley Line Or Liberec - Stará Paka?

These are very different routes, but I'd like a little input. Anyone with some thoughts on how these routes fare in TSW 7? Which do you think is the higher quality route overall? Try to put aside any personal bias if possible as I know there are a lot of UK rail fans here.

Both of them seem pretty highly regarded for scenery quality. I like that Medway has a lot of neat features like the GSM-R functionality and the CCTV for guard operations. Likewise, Liberec has some interesting features with the radio usage and other additions.

I don't have any personal attachment to these areas geographically and I'm pretty open to playing routes from various countries. I enjoy UK and German routes equally depending on my mood, as well as routes based in other areas.

Who put in more work? Who deserves my money?

Thanks for any opinions. I'll also note I do have a few layers for the Medway Line so it won't be bone stock should I decide to purchase.

 

Medway Valley without a doubt. Excellent attention to detail and a lot of variety in the timetable. One of the better routes in the game.

Liberec - Stara Paka is a nice route but as its a single-track A to B type route, you find that once you have driven one end to the other there is not much else to see.

 

i don’t own liberec, as i chose medway instead and i think you should do the same. one of the best tsw routes ever. aside from quality, one important thing to consider is that medway takes about 50 minutes to drive in it’s entirety, whereas liberec takes well over an hour which lots of people simply don’t have time for

 

I've watched plenty but of course they're all for TSW 6, and not TSW 7 which is part of why I included that part in my question. I've also taken the time to read multiple threads for each route that were posted here in the past. It seems Medway may have some issues in TSW 7, and no one has made any posts in the Liberec threads since the new game released.

Just a little fun to get some community consensus in case I missed anything myself. I've also tagged my post with the PC flair so that makes things even more specific. Console user experience is of no use to me.

 

Fair enough. I took my comment down as i felt it was me being too harsh and moaning lol. They’re both great routes. I like the Czech route for scenery and the Medway for its features.

If I absolutely had to pick one over the other I’m going to say the Czech route wins over Medway as the scenery is a lot better and the train is very unique and the sounds are amazing. But Medway is very very good too. Brilliant route also. .

 

Thanks for the votes and thoughts everyone. I'll leave this up for a while and see where the votes land. I will be picking up both of them eventually anyway, but it's interesting to see where the community sits. I usually wait for huge discounts so buying routes when they're above $10-$20 is not something I usually do. Some community nudging in one direction or another makes it easier to decide. I'll probably be waiting a while for whatever one I don't buy to get such a large discount.

It's a tough call as both are equally excellent in terms of quality. So it boils down really to what you like to drive. Medway is a regular interval service through southern England scenery with a very nice upgrades Electrostar as the main train. The Czech route is longer and gives you a noisy diesel loco and unique diesel railcar to work services through classic Bohemian scenery.

The Steam sale starts in a few days so why not see if they get enough discount to buy both. Neither will disappoint.

 

Shoot, I didn't know there was another Steam sale coming. The sales on the TSW 6 versions of the routes are about to end in about nine hours so I felt like I needed to decide. Appreciate the input. I ended up grabbing Medway as I've really been enjoying the Wharfedale route so I'm kind of in the UK mindset, and it got the most votes. It'll be easier for me to pick up and play than learning a whole new country's signaling and new loco.

I'll end up grabbing Liberec at some point anyway.

 

I would suggest both since i've picked up both whit Deluxe version at day one

 

Yes it looks like a couple of publishers are having their own sale before the main one starts. I just grabbed the Berlin X10 map and the O405 bus set for OMSI 2 as Aerosoft are having one. Of course the gamble is, whether the discount will be more, less or the same in the main sale. I also want to grab the O305 which from the reviews is a great vintage German bus with a fierce engine sound.

 

I ran Liberec on TSW7 (Didn't have TSW6 installed) and the performance is pretty poor, it's about half the framerate of other routes using the same settings i've tried. Didn't have time to check for a possible cause and no idea if others having the same 'problem'.

 

Lib - Stara Paka will bring more pleasure than another British route, imho

 

How about waiting to a sale and buying both?

Thank you. Probably would've been a more intelligent use of the funds, but the deed is already done, haha. For what it's worth they were both already on sale (at least for the TSW 6 listings), but I could have waited longer for a bigger discount.

If I were a patient man I would not have bought TSW 7 when I did either, so there's a bit of a pattern here. Now the wait begins for Liberec to go to around $10. I think I'll be waiting a while.
