    I watched the live stream.

It was a route I was looking at purchasing.

Instead I think it should have been scrapped and started again, it looks dreadful.

How would scrapping it and being made again from zero make it any better? Lol

There is plenty of room for improvement, and I do hope they get around to fixing some stuff after release. But you guys are really overdramatic, lol.

I might be a bit biased since I’ve been really wanting this route for nearly three years, but in terms of visuals and textures, it didn't turn out badly
it’s nowhere near the worst TSW DLC
the only issues imo are the kiha poor engine sounds and the lack of suspension
personally, if they add suspension, i’ll be satisfied

I won’t be wasting any money on this route. Sorry, but it missed its chance to shine. It simply isn’t up to TSW 7 standard. Even TSW 7 as a whole isn’t up to TSW 7 standard with so many issues unresolved.

Because sometimes, the only way to start again is to scrap it and start over.

That is exactly what I wanted to show - or rather, express - with the image. ;)

I don't see a point in purchasing this at all, especially with that price tag. Running Train is nearly half the price and better in almost every aspect. If I really want to play the Tadami route, I'll give TSC a go.

Restarting from scrap is clearly an abuse; the route just needs a big improvement.

The TSC variant is really bad though. This might look bad compared to TSW standards, but still miles better than the TSC one. Transmission and ATS simulation is also much more realistic.

This one seems enjoyable even despite the shortcomings. The Tadami Line in TSC was straight unenjoyable for me.

It's been in development for several years. There's only so many "improvements" that can be made before the hard decision has to be made.

Bruh you are yapping nonsense. You clearly know nothing about content creation if you think starting over from scratch is somehow better than simply fixing the shortcomings.

Ok. They have had several years to fix the shortcomings, they have failed.

No. They spent several years getting to where they are now.

They could, apparently start over from scratch according to you. Take several years again. Or take what we have now and simply fix the broken stuff. Improve the textures on the already completed assets, source better engine audio, add to the parse distant scenery and fix the various bugs.

I'd like to hear how scrapping everything and starting from zero would be better than what I've just described.

You haven’t exactly just joined TSW today, so you know full well – just like many others and myself – how things work with updates for TSW DLCs.

As soon as a new DLC comes out – and they’re all buggy anyway – 1 to 3 updates follow. But by the time these updates are released, another 1 or 2 new DLCs have already come out, so DTG knows full well that by then nobody’s really clamouring for the Tadami updates anymore, and even if they are, they’ll just be lied to or fobbed off again.

I think the various statements have made it very clear what happened over time:

UW believed they could port/copy much of the TSC Tadami into TSW. They've said that they spent considerable time attempting to bring the train over from TSC and ended up doing a considerable amount of work to make it into TSW. They also said that they had to create numerous local assets as the TSC ones were not up to TSW standards which took considerable time and resources. They had to learn how to use Simugraph and other TSW specific game coding.

You can see that the vegetation/trees/ and lineside clutter are indicative of what older routes gave us, the route was speculatively talked about being part of TSW4 originally. The awful textures in the cab and zero reflections inside the train are no doubt attributed to a dated TSC model being used, alongside no suspension which wouldn't have been on the cards at the start.

Unfortunately the bar has moved, we now have substantially impressive routes from Firefly, AABS and JT to name just 3.

I still don't understand how the Executive Producer puts himself in a position where he is seeing doors open on the wrong side and no suspension on the train, on a LiveStream infront of prospective customers, Fumbles about for 10 minutes trying to find the switch for a fan, and driver erratically missing stations and speeding whilst providing comical discourse.

It just makes the statement that Alex made last year after the class 90 hogwash about doing better and having more checks in place to improve the final product seem empty and meaningless.

Which sadly is why DTG/3P's will continue to churn out overpriced rubbish.

And DTG picked a great day to release it anyway - the same day Transport Fever 3 comes out. I won't be buying it as my PC isn't quite up to spec and I think £45 is a bit on the pricey side, but a lot of people will be thinking £30 for a mediocre TSW route or add £15 more for something that will give 100's of hours of gameplay.

You've also got Road Trip for American Truck Sim releasing on 29th September, too.

It may seem beyond the realms of possibility to you. But there are many times when a game in development is so riddled with errors that in the long run it's better to restart it, especially when it's a first time DLC for a franchise. If the product is riddled with errors and faults upon launch, it'll hurt the product and put people off from buying it. Which will impact any other DLCs the third party may be developing.

Thinking about that date, Nivalis (renamed recently to Nivalis Nights), which I've been waiting for around the same amount of time as for Tadami is releasing on the same day, too, and it will be only £21.99. I guess plenty of people may find something better, giving more amount of playtime and for a cheaper price releasing on that day anyway.

Not forgetting that two days later the Steam Autumn sale begins! Though I already indulged myself in the OMSI 2 store as Aerosoft are having a “Developer” sale prior to the main one. Probably already had more enjoyment out of Berlin X10 (yes DTG, don’t be frightened, Berlin won’t hurt you) and the two vintage bus packs than running a floating brick across Tadami could ever provide.

Edit/Stop Press: And the first diesel loco for SimRail on 30/09, albeit just a BR285 but that has to be a Day One.

I am very aware. I am merely saying that the idea of scrapping it and restarting from scratch is silly and unrealistic. Because if you would want to make it better, improving on the current state is miles easier and more efficient than deleting the whole thing.

Would be good if dovetail could re evaluate the price of this DLC. I don't think £30 is particularly reasonable for what the community believes probably isn't worth it at that price.

While some of the screenshots do look lovely, is it really the same quality as Medway valley etc given it only has one train, no freight services, and as others have said, is practically a copy over from the Train Sim Classic route?

While I appreciate efforts do need to be paid, if this was as others claim, to be developed for TSW 3, it doesn't sound like it has been much of a priority for the development team given we're at TSW 7 now and it's still an incredibly basic route and train...

How about, if people spend their money on what they like and find enjoyable, and if you don't want to spend your money on an item of DLC, then that is equally fine.

It is someones personal business what they spend their money on and I am sure don't need lectures.

l am in the same boat. I have bought routes l rarely play. For instance the French route, all Rivet routes from Arosa to WCL and feel Tadami will be like this. But doesn’t really matter it’s a new route to explore.

I don't know where this has come from. Tadami line was announced in February 2024, 5 months after TSW4 came out. Even if development had been ongoing for, say, 9 months by that point, as 3rd party developers they'd have known TSW4 was coming.

From what I've seen of the stream (I've been watching in stages), this is a route that's been developed to TSW4 standards before suspension was implemented.

I have a feeling that on console this is going to be worse than Semmeringbahn and Voralburg for distance hills popping in out of nowhere.

If console performance was why they pulled it i'm pretty sure they cut back the LOD in order to make it work.

    So console buyers beware.

Especially if UW did say that a fix was in 2 weeks after the delay. That is the only thing they would of had time for to make it work.

the october 2023 roadmap already listed "route by union workshop" meaning it was already under development well before february 2024

The Route was started during the TSW3 era, it was originally intended to release as part of TSW4 because UW intended on a mass copy & paste of the DLC from TSC, which didn't work out.

Of course it was, I made that point. Nobody calls Blackpool Branches a TSW3 route, even though development must have started in TSW3 times (if not possibly earlier!).

And keeping up with the evolving standards. ISTR Just Trains stating they had revisited the OLE around Preston to match what contemporary routes (might have been ECML) were releasing with.
