I want such a feature. Badly. It's ridiculous that such an obvious and useful feature still hasn't been implemented after all this time. I'm surprised you can't see the value.
If it would work properly, I'd use a savegame feature too. I don't have that much spare time recently, so doing a 1,5 or 2 hours service in one sitting is pretty much impossible without any good save function.
Well unless a poll is carried out we would never know. It doesn't seem to be that much of an onerous request as many games have them, including TSC. However maybe there is some reason it is not easy, if so why not just say. Sometimes I might want to drive a few different routes on one go and don't want to spend an hour on one service. Sometimes I only have half an hour as I'm often busy. I might have a saved game but want to drive something else on the next session which I also want to save. There could be many reasons.
Yes, I’ve completely disabled the save‑game system by default, because it creates a lag spike every time the game processes a stop or a task and you hear that typical confirmation sound. I disabled it through the Engine.ini, and since then I no longer have issues with the game saving in the background. It’s a personal opinion I’m not trying to convince anyone but I just think the chances are very small that DTG will do anything with it, especially because they already have a solution with split service timetables. And I should also mention that the save‑game feature often exposes many other problems. After loading a save, all kinds of issues appear that you as a player won’t enjoy either. It’s probably related to the complexity of the game and everything it needs to initialize when loading a save, which clearly goes wrong quite often.
We can't have a better save game system because of the pigs ear that has been made elsewhere is more of a believable reason than nobody wanting it. You should have lead with that.
Sorry, but where do you get the idea that nobody wants it? In fact, or i should presuming that I’m specifically asking who does want it, right?!
Just to chip in and say, the multiple save slots have been something that's been requested for years and it is not just something that only a small handful of people want... It actually makes a lot of sense to have multiple save slots and would be a feature many people would use and is not a unreasonable request.
I’ve been hoping for ages that DTG would finally give TSW more than one slot. Above all, having just one slot is simply no longer acceptable; even older games had more than one slot back in the day. Jesper, this Tadami Line business is a joke, isn’t it? After all, this route is only being released today, and on how many other routes do you find this sort of split timetable?
I use the save game system to load and/or save pretty much every time I play TSW as I seldom have long periods of unbroken time to play unfortunately. It's not perfect - I've learned to always save when the train is in motion rather than stationary to ensure that the save works correctly. Also, there have been times when cab lights or headlights or safety systems which were switched on when I saved were on the off position when loading. That said, providing I save when the train isn't stopped at a station or a signal I've had no game-breaking experiences for years when I've saved/loaded on XBOX. On that basis I'd be quite happy for 4 or 5 more save slots to be on offer!
Not meant in an unfriendly way, but if you play this kind of game, you do need to be able to make time for it, right? It’s a game where you can generally expect not to be done again after just 15 minutes. Not to shut down the discussion about a save‑game feature or anything like that. I’m not against your request, and I never claimed that nobody wants it but yeah, I’m afraid it is a pretty small minority. It’s at the bottom of the list, I’m afraid…
I don't use the save function because there's only one save slot. If I don't want to play anymore, I close the game. There's no guarantee I'll feel like continuing that saved task the next day. But what can happen is that I do a different task the next day, but then don't want to play it again, for health reasons.
I only opened this thread so we could up to dated with updates and patches let's try and keep it like that.
He just likes to troll/gaslight any comment he doesn’t agree with. And sadly the mods just allow it to carry on. And leaving slots aside, it can’t be denied that the crazy bug with chained run saving absolutely needs sorting. Not everyone is a total nerd able or willing to spend hours at a time burning their eyes out playing a computer game.
Jesper, not everyone has the whole day to play TSW, but it seems you’re an exception in that respect. And not every TSW player always has 30 minutes or more to play, because the children might need something from you, or your wife might want something. Most ordinary players are people who have to go to work and have other commitments afterwards, and things don’t always go the way they’d like them to. You come across to me as if you’ve got the whole day to play, and perhaps don’t even have to – or want to – work.
Damn, almost feels to me like that post violates the forum rules about personal attacks on specific members, here. (I jest, of course, but you did basically just describe me)
No offence intended. Should probably have given it a smilie. Nerd was probably the wrong word, though what my missus occasionally calls me when I’m playing. How about we go for lucky people, able to find enough time to do a complete run or several runs in one session.
I still wonder to this day how in the hell that panel with that messed up buttons did past QA does TSW even have QA? I honestly have my doubts
I do not get the new AI conductor system after the last update on realistic you had to close the doors yourself, this better be fixed imo the change log for the new AI conductor mode are vague and not well explained off, simple, hybrid, and realistic dovetail explain more please that would be good. I am willing to bet AI conductor after this update will be even more buggy then it already is. Again as I have already stated its unrealistic for you to close the doors for the guard because at that point whats the point of a guard.
Oh! Almost forgot about "Beginner controls"! 7th version, 7 years of releasing TSW and so important feature for simulator game! Sorry for my mistake (( P. S. Maybe "sim" in "Train Sim World" means something else, off course...
It's one of the most requested features from what I've seen. I can name I think 6 people on the forum that request it often.
Assuming that everyone is born an expert and there are no casual players, despite them making up the majority of the player base? I honestly don't know what you're on about since they're off by default. You'd have to go in and turn it on intentionally to even use the feature.
Not to be rude but 6 people and calling that "its one of the most requested features" is for me a bit questionble to be fair
It would have benefitted me. I came across TSW in 2023 during a sale. I tried it and could not get the bakerloo train to move and gave it up as a buggy game. I came back to TSW in 2025 and got trains to move and became hooked. If beginner controls had existed in 2023, I would have become hooked back then. Also I would love to see more than one save slot. Am liking the quality of life improvements in tsw7 as a xbox x player.
