I'm aware that there are some that don't have issues with the route which is totally fine.

The message is simple. Don't present a addon that is low quality and you won't have so many negative comments. I did see the console preview for tsw7 and if there were negative comments on that stream at least, I think it was more than justified.

Most people aren't negative just for the sake of doing so.

 

I wonder whether we get a Tadami console preview stream. Still time before the release. Come on, DTG...

 

I love the old Densh De Go games they was fun do hope get routes from Densh De Go in to tsw

 

Densha De Go on XBox would be enough for me.

 

And as TSS noted in his YT summary, it was only being output from the game at 30 FPS. Smooth Motion was doing the Upscaling to 60 FPS. It also grieves me to say that watching some of the footage, almost reminded me of when you attach yourself to a train in Transport Fever 2 and travel through the scenery.

 

Exactly! The whole point of the stream is to showcase the route so we can decide if it’s good or bad, Day One, sale or never purchase. I’ve certainly seen enough of it now to say it falls somewhere between those latter two categories.

 

Most have though (myself included) and the general consensus seems to be that it's a very disappointing route.
Oh, and I don't understand why "barracking" should enter the conversation because there's no pitchforks at dawn or shouting down folk who happen to have a more favourable outlook towards this route in here, it's just a tête à tête between two opposing forces.....and a very mild one at that if truth be told!
But yeah, when the 'negative Nancy's' come out to play, folk do like to exaggerate the severity of the situation.

 

So where's the console preview stream! Console doesn't have epic and lightning settings so console has to have a preview as well. The ambassadors can't do content until release day on console so Dovetail has to show it off

 

Yes, a console stream would be nice.

That said, is there a new rule that forces you to buy the DLC the moment it goes on sale? If not then maybe wait for reviews on console and decide then....?

HmmSim Metro is a standalone UE4 train sim based on the real Seoul metro and looks superb. Costs $20 too. It’s Korean, not Japanese, but very similar vibe to urban Japanese railways. You could literally buy this and Running Train for the same cost as Tadami.

 

Agreed, but it would be useful for the publisher of a game to do a preview for their customers so they can see what to expect, especially given the gulf in performance between PC and console nowadays. If it's so resource heavy on Matt's PC build then I'm not holding out a lot of hope that it runs well on console. A preview stream could put a lot of worries ro rest unless they have something to hide, such as a buggy mess that barely runs.

Im pretty sure it's UE5, great sim, runs well on an old PC.

Watching TBA’s content this morning and the route looks nice but worried about how this is going to run on console.

Definitely won’t be for everyone as it looks very very slow, but I can see myself getting into this one.

 

Finally figured out one of the reasons this route looks so weird to me when I watch people run it thanks to a post on the subreddit--are there no shadows in the cab? I never noticed that before but I'm watching British Ace's video now and it seems to be the case. You can see light and shadow on the windscreen but there's literally nothing going on in the cab. I could be wrong here.

Another thing I didn't notice until now is the digital speedo or whatever that is on top of the dash is completely non-functional despite working in the TSC version. So weird. I really dislike when stuff like that is left out.

 

It's part of the ATS-Ps safety system. It may be that the streamers have safety systems disabled.

 

Fair enough. I'll have to re-watch the official stream and peruse the other ambassador videos to see if any of them show it as being functional. I would be surprised if British Ace didn't have it enabled since he was also who I watched to see if it worked in TSC and it was enabled for his video on the route there. I'm not sure if he makes a habit of playing without everything on or not.

 

The British Ace said he had safety systems off in the videos which went out yesterday.

 

Probably for his sanity. If it works like other Japanese sim, if you enter a station under a caution signal onto a red, you can’t cancel the chime until you come to a stand.

So, who is going to be the first one to buy this on console? I want to get it but need to see how the fps is first.

 

The train model is a copy-paste offering from TSC. They said they wanted originally to bring most of the TSC DLC to TSW, which frankly is lazy and uninspiring, but then found out lots of what they intended was either not technically possible, or looked bad. That's why the train model has no internal reflections its an old 2019 model that's been brought back from the dead.

 

Looks like the TGV route, aka, terrible.

Well it's got a 5 star review on playstation store minutes within release so it must be good

 

The TSC version looked ok back in 2020.

That sounds strange.... The consoles doesn't support this future so far i know.... Maybe they have done some light tweaks but that's not enhanced lighting or do you have a switch to turn it on in the settings now?

 

Nope, no switch take a look at this video, it just appears

 

Medway has the enhanced lighting by default so could be a route by route basis. Soundingly cautiously optimistic about the console version anyway.

 

Thats not fully Enhanced Lightning.... They have add some parts. But whats mentioned above they had add the same to the Medway valley line. And don't forget that Mittenwaldbahn hat also some parts that creates better lighting impressions

 

That constant "ding-dong,ding-dong,ding-dong"? You can get used to it if you play from time to time in Japanese or Korean train sims.

 

I have a bad feeling this will be the only Japanese route we will ever see for TSW, what a shame....

Yeah, the lack of shadows and low res textures (I doubt they even use proper PBR textures) is a big let down. It looks like they gave up after a year or 2 in development and forced themself to do the bare minimum for a release.

So after watching other videos it doesn't really matter anyway because I can clearly see it's not functional. TinTin didn't have it, and GoTraction (formerly trainsimulatordriver) specifically mentioned it was non-functional. The official stream preview also didn't have it. I have yet to see a video that does. I know TinTin keeps safety systems on by default with TSW 7. So it looks like it just doesn't work. Another "blank screen" moment for TSW which I really dislike.

I just don't understand why. Same developer as the TSC version which had it working.

That's a real shame. I was already heavily disappointed in the route so if I did buy it eventually it would've been for a heavy discount. But yeah the shadows thing and this bit with the thingy on the dash just made it even less appealing.

Hmm, those screenshots look truly horrible. Are they actual (official) locations or out of bounds images?

 

I'm curious as well because sometimes the worst images people post are things you'd never see unless you go looking for them.

But if they're representative of the overall quality, it's a real shame.

 

The images in the thread are clearly viewable from the Train or the camera panning around the train. One is from the cab and one clearly has the train it...
