Airedale And Wharfdale Lines Disscusion

Just going to share a discovery I made in regards to the KWVR.
Using mods I went out of bounds at Keighley and managed to drive the entire length of the KWVR, all the trackwork is there including yards/sidings and signals/lineside signs but no scenery (station buildings, etc) ground texturing ends at Haworth.
To me, this looks like the KWVR was planned to be added but then got cut at some point during development.
Maybe this is an opportunity for modders to finish the job and add the missing scenery?

Or a follow up by Rivet or DTG themselves, along with a Class 25 or small steam tank engine to sweeten the deal.

Just ready and waiting for some new steam choo choo once they have amended all the physics for them...?
A boy can dream, right?

I was there last weekend exploring it all.

I don't really do mods, but I'd make an exception for that! (Assuming I get the route...)

If you wanted to do the steam railway, it would make no sense to have 40 miles of mainline track attached to it, clogging up memory. Better to release it as its own entity.

I reported this over 2 years ago and it’s still not fixed!

Welcome to train sim world, where pretty much nothing gets fixed

I’ve got a horrible feeling I’m going to get A&W plus the 333 tomorrow, despite plenty of misgivings about it. As someone accustomed to JT/AABS/ATS build standards, I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Fingers crossed!

Early observations are it’s ok, the route looks good, standard Rivet floating assets and trees and plants too close to the tracks and flying through the cab. Both locos seem good and hopefully tomorrow’s patch will sort some of these issues.

From my brief experience with the route before downgrading my “purchase” to the free version, yes it’s okay but gives an early TSW vibe. Built by the numbers by people with no real love for the task, compared to JT, Firefly or even AABS who go above and beyond to provide something you can immerse yourself in. It’s not as bad as Cardiff, mainly because it’s a complete network not a sawn off stump, but you can still tell it was built by Rivet - trees everywhere (though thankfully not those dreadful stumps) and scant ground cover - from one YT clip I watched there’s a tile between Skipton and Keighley that just has the bare terrain texture, no ground foliage at all.

And (for PC users) LondonMidland is working on a scenery improvement package.

Noticed on the preview stream how bad the tree placement (and type) was around Neville Hill. Makes it look like you're in a forest!

Classic Rivet…

Anyone else really annoyed that the workshops at neville hill are all closed off, or is it just me

It looks like they've filled in the missing scenery/foliage around Steeton with the update, nice one.

There a huge Floating Blocks in the Air, but it was also before the Update

In case anyone cares, the Airedale 801 can be used on Peterborough Doncaster if you want to experience improved sounds and have passenger announcements

This is another common bug, isn't it? Has it been fixed by now?

Is this a PC mod or also available on console?

Is anyone having an issue where Crossflatts Station won’t register a station stop?
The distance counter goes to zero and just starts climbing again.

I’ve held short of a full bug report because I haven’t had time to test it without the 158 mod yet. Just curious what others have been seeing.

Just a basic sub in the timetable. No mod

Still happened

I've not had that problem across my last 8 passenger runs, is it on a particular service?

A nice neat little route love the brand new units the 331 & 333 along with the new HYA limestone Wagons

Purely a speculation point here, but has anyone noticed how far the tracks extend past Holbeck depot? No invisible walls either with some basic scenery as placeholders. A possible Sheffield to Leeds via Kirkgate route for the future?

Liking this one a lot. I actually started Journey mode for the first time since like TSW 3 :') Although there doesn't seem to be a lot of traffic.

There's a mod available on tscomminity that adds 158s if on pc. Nice to see 158s zooming through.

Is holbeck accessible

Are you genuinely surprised that something got cut that was built? I'd imagine the team was told it had to release on a certain date by DTG instead of being allowed to finish their project to it's full specs.

Not sure if it's already been mentioned on here yet but can we also please get rid of the female passenger flirting/giggling sounds being heard directly behind the engineer's seat that sounds like she's playing footsies with her boyfriend or girlfriend? It's distracting and annoying while sitting quietly at the platform. I'm about to turn the hose on whatever inappropriate behavior is going on back there. Imagine how the other passengers must feel lol.

Agree with you there I'm also fed up of listening to someone sneezing every few seconds.

I would suggest going into Audio settings and switching the ‘Internal Passenger Noise’ to zero.

it’s also not intuitive on the PS5. The ‘Apply’ button doesn’t work and the only way to save the setting is to press ‘circle’ (go back button) and you then get offered the save settings box.

Anyone else have an issue where the AWS penalty brake suddenly applied?

Between Baildon and Guisely on the 331 I suddenly had AWS penalty, and despite acknowledging and stopping the penalty hasn't cleared. I'm also not sure why it activated. I saw the 40 mph marker approaching and was ready to slow down from 50 mph. Was I supposed to notice earlier? Playing with less assists for more immersion and not sure what I missed.

Do you mean TPWS penalty? Because that can happen if you approach too fast (not sure what the tolerance is regarding how fast you're allowed to be).

You'll know about it because you'll see two TPWS grids spaced a short distance apart. If you pass over the second grid too soon after the first, you'll get a TPWS brake demand.

I'll check it again. The alert only mentioned AWS penalty brake. But maybe it was TPWS. Thanks!

Why are the mastery for this route missing?

There no Mastery for new routes now just the monthly ones.

Oh know Thanks anyway

Is this new strange traction motor sound they’ve added to the 331 at all accurate? And why are the neutral sections now even more borked.

I had a week’s holiday and I feel like I’ve come back to a worse game than what I had to start with. It amazes me how they can ‘fix’ so much stuff but never address the serious problems.

l would love to see this route added with the Ivatt 41241 engine. Happily pay full price for it.

Isn’t it about time some more heritage routes were added in TSW. I think West Somerset is the only one so far and the SVR is in development by a Mod?

When the Airedale route was announced l was so hopeful that we would see the KWVR in it’s full glory!!!

An Ivatt tank would be a decent choice, seeing as two (41313 and 41298) are based on the Isle of Wight so could layer in as AI on the Class 484 version of the IoW too.

In the Creation threads, a poster here was working on making the Esk Valley Line and North Yorkshire Moors Railway for TSW as one combined route, which led to them being commissioned to make it by Dovetail as an official release a few years back, but there haven't been any updates on it for a while now.

I haven't bought this route, but was a bit disappointed that you couldn't access the KWVR platforms at Keighley without using mods.

With regard to the KWVR, I do think it is a shame that it is not included however I do understand why it was cut. I feel that not being able to access the platforms at Keighley is more of a let down however. There was plenty of potential to have loco moves to/from the KWVR, be it steam or diesel either as a scenario or timetable working, even allowing us to do it in freeroam...

Overall, I've definitely enjoyed this route and it is a step up from Riviera last year (which was a bit lacklustre considering its potential). It is so well-suited to TSW with full end-to-end journeys, a variety of destinations and both fast and slow running; more of this in the future please. However, there are plenty of issues and that inevitable feeling of disappointment that so often takes over when playing TSW is back. Sorry for the moaning post, but let's see how many of these get fixed:

• I've saved driving it until now because the 333 is a delight, but I think the 331 needs a rework. The acceleration is OTT: the 331 has incredible acceleration in real life, but it's not the Starship Enterprise. It also loses speed far too quickly when coasting, as if there is a small amount of brake on permanently. That sort of speed loss when coasting is like playing TSW2 again, but worse. The less said about those traction motor sounds that kick in around 20-30 mph the better, because they're miles off. The distinctive HVAC whirring sound the CAF trains intermittently make also seems to be missing which is a shame. I honestly think in its current state the 331 is the weakest UK EMU we've had in TSW for a while.
• The level crossing at Kildwick (between Steeton and Cononley) needs sorting. Every time you approach in the Skipton direction, a car goes over just seconds before the train. This was painfully obvious in the preview stream so should have been fixed by now.
• Class 331 numbers break after reloading a saved game (you get numbers like 331333 and 331666 ). There's some sort of wider screw up here because the numbers don't make sense in God Mode's numbering manager either, while the other classes work fine. The set numbers are inaccurate too as only 331001-012 are based at Neville Hill, but I know full well that's never getting fixed without a mod.
• Crossflatts is missing from the automated announcements on both the 331 and 333.
• Passengers' feet are sunk into the platform when sat on a bench on platform 6 at Leeds.
• A poster clips behind the wall at Burley-in-Wharfedale.
• The randomly placed railway workers are a nice idea but as always seems to happen with this game, it's too much of a good thing. They're absolutely everywhere and it's unrealistic; I'd rather they could be turned off completely.
• As many have pointed out, the floating objects in the sky near Bingley and a couple of other places (I think I spotted one near Keighley too).
• They're not going to be fixed, but those 'fast travel' cop-outs at stations like Steeton, Frizinghall and Apperley Bridge. Lazy.
• Leeds is like a mausoleum. A buzzing station in real life but totally devoid of atmosphere here.

The other thing is, that bug where timetable mode eventually breaks when chaining services is still going strong. It just makes a total mockery of the blurb for this route, which actively encourages sticking with one train for several services to see the entire route. Well good luck with that, because an AI train will inevitably knacker the entire timetable well before you complete a circuit. We shouldn't have to delete AI trains and lose half our HUD to correct a years-old bug.

youhouu the empty trains are back !

one day it will be fixed?

I believe you can access KWVR. Search out TinTin_57’s video (search “TinTin_57 keighley” in YouTube) where he explains it - I don’t think it requires mods.

I'll just take a snipit of your post

Totally agree that this is just lazy and it's something I do not expect from payware, that's 3 routes now as far as I'm aware (all by Rivet too).

Glad I never bought it and since they're cutting modelling stations properly, I'll cut any payments in purchasing their content by either not buying or wait for a heavy sale.

A price increase in DLC and you are getting less for more

Anyone have problems with the wagon trouble scenario? I can't get the consist to move as I'm getting wheelslip in notch 1! Even the sander is no help.

Once again comes down to DTG’s complete lack of oversight and setting out a minimum set of standards a third party (or in the case actually second party) needs to comply with in order for an add on to be accepted for sale.

So, I've played this route a few times now.

My overall opinion of it? It's...fine. Just that, fine.

The 333 is a good drive though and my personal favourite between that and the 331. I don't have any real affinity with that area in real life.

I can't see me revisiting it much more until the 70 and Northern 158 releases.

So far my most played route on TSW7 is the Riviera line.
