Sorry that some didn’t share my sentiments about some sort of tribute to Felix and Bolt. I will leave the idea with the person doing the remaster, as to whether they want to or not.

Cards on the table, I found it mawkish. A trend that seems to be prevalent in the UK these days and epitomised by the hysterical aftermath of Diana's death. I miss the stiff upper lip, keep calm and carry on attitude.

The stiff upper lip is a myth - witness the long-term behaviour of football crowds. If you read some history, there was a time when the Continentals regarded the British as remarkably emotional. Mawkish could almost describe the Victorian era.

I didn't live in the Victorian era. I knew a time when we were much less sentimental, so I don't need to read history and it isn't a myth. We're talking about a virtual cat memorial in a game. Pull yourself together, man.

To be fair, the Huddersfield Station cats are relevant to the route (time travel notwithstanding) it should be easy enough and acceptable to almost everyone to have some kind of little "thing" outside the station, therefore it can't be seen from passing trains and the purists can be happy. It's not like the suggestion was let's make various memorials to things that have happened along the route in the "future".

It's a nice thought but I'd understand it not being included.

It is 1982 from what we have been told internally.

I would think in the very least if that is the case the route needs more static stock in the sidings and yards and a bit more life at the major stations ,I always felt it was a bit quiet ,even with the heavy freight pack ,or was it like that in real life

But it is a myth, that was prevalent among the upper classes.

You mean that recent event that happened 30 years ago?

Nonsense. I'm not upper class. Guess we had different upbringings. You crack on with the sentimentality about a cat you probably never met. World's gone soft.

Empathy costs nothing. You don't need to agree. Someone can think it's a nice touch to add a virtual thing to another virtual thing. You might not. It's fine, you can have empathy towards someone else thought without feeling the need to rubbish it.

Given the things that could be done with NTP, wasting time on a fictitious memorial to a dead cat seems insane to me and people need to get a grip.

Not always better but as we are talking about NTP, set in the early 80s, people were far more concerned about what Thatcher was doing to British industry to care about a cat memorial, especially around the Pennines. Let's keep it real.

    Quite.

The 70s and 80s sucked, but that doesn't mean I don't want to experience the only part of my life back then that wasn't dreadful; traveling around London on trains with my Capitalcard or Travelcard.

I wonder why internal dates are different to the ones published? GWE claimed to be 2017 but now we know it is actually 2016 internally, and now NTP is actually 1982 but we were told that it was 1983.
    upload_2026-10-1_13-55-22.png

Now I realise that this has only happened twice, and the difference of one year means basically nothing, but it's still interesting that it's happened twice (isn't that a meme?).

I knew there was a reason why I had 83 in my head. Does this mean the WIP 37/0 needs to be revisited for accuracy?!

There is a cat's whiskers difference between the two years tbh.

    Nothing meaningful would have changed.

This is a good point. I wonder if PixelGames can rebrand it as 1981 and perhaps someone can pick up the Deltic dlc?

Not even a year, just a few months to Jan 1982 should do it ;)

That said, reign it in a bit guys, we're gonna scare the devs off if we have mass debates over Deltics, 25s (yes I know), 56s, Healy Mills, York, electrification & 91s and Kitty Cat memorials... :)

From 1979-1981. HST’s had taken over on the ECML

I wouldn't object to a Deltic as it wouldn't be out of place, but would rather York to Newcastle or similar to accompany it!

Once the HSTs came in they were put on secondary routes/services.

Most memorable time seeing 55019 for me was wandering down to the Newcastle bay one evening at Carlisle and seeing it there at the head of a failed 101 :D:D:D

Not really true. Some headcodes plated over, buffer skirts removed, radiator guards removed. Some had Oleos, some had oval buffers. They still went through works overhauls.

I hope there is scope to include the single headcode box alongside the split headcode box. Would be very nice IMO.

I think you get a Gronk and a 101 as well, or if you've already got Northern Transpennine/Tees Valley it lets you use them.

It's definitely a good route with some good layers that add into other routes despite it showing it's age a little!

You get 3 decent locos for the price too The 45 is a personal favourite of mine, the 47 is fairly good although a little behind the JT versions which are much more modern and I love the 101 which mixes it up a little and is a little more of a challenge to drive with the gears and lapped brakes!

It's worth getting the heavy freight pack for the 08 and 40 also which adds a bunch of new stock too! :)
