Just wondering if there is a list of routes that use the TOD4 lighting system? Only recently I decided to do a quick play and it put me on an old route called Clinchfield which looked out of place with the more modern routes due to it not using the later TOD4 lighting. So I have decided since I am slightly OCD to remove all routes that are not on TOD4 just to keep my game playing consistent. However not certain which routes are TOD4, googling this came up with nothing. (Unless I didn't get the right keywords in searching) I am sure DTG would have an easy list of TOD4 routes they can quickly post. Or if the list is shorter, the routes that do not have TOD4
All routes that came with tsw3 and onwards is tod4. Compatible content (from tsw2 and older) Gwe, cathcart, ecw, ska, wsr, sehs (was extended and remastered), boston sprinter
Thank you. I found this online, so pretty everything listed for TSW1/2020 and TSW2 content can be removed (except for your list Gwe, cathcart, ecw, ska, wsr, sehs (was extended and remastered), boston sprinter?) Are separate locos okay or do they not perform right in regards to lighting with TOD4? I ask because I have been with it sometime but lost track of things, own 95% of the content. Only this year backed off purchasing due to the price hikes. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...4tBs8h2DyFJM/edit?gid=625495784#gid=625495784
Not playing them is one, but those routes can be "needed" for layers. With those old routes you also need to have the base route installed for the loco DLC. The older trains are quite ok on newer routes, newer TOD4 trains on non TOD4 routes are worse, as the headlights are way to bright. Riesa - Dresden is not included in the list above, this one also got a remaster (with TSW4) and has TOD4. So in conclusion, first look what those routes has to offer for layers or substitutions, before you remove them, otherwise you will end up with more empty TOD4 routes.
Wish there was a way to extract the locos from the older routes so I can still retain the layers and subs without the route. Otherwise maybe the best approach is stop using Quick Play, have the list of Non TOD4 routes and just avoid playing them? Did another quickplay and it threw me at Arosa Line....please have an option in settings to have Quick Play not select routes that are not TOD4 please. Off topic but I have also found Quickplay has thrown me in a timetable service but on foot at a random station with no locos in sight, this happened especially on the Bremen route.
What’s the main purpose you use Quickplay? Because If you don’t want to play older routes, which I agree don’t look great anymore, it might be easier to just go to the traditional route select and you can still choose something at random.
I was only trying quickplay because I did not want to spend time thinking what do I want to play which can be slightly overwhelming with many DLC. And its an ugly nightmare when you select a timetable manually and then have to choose a random Class66 out of the the 10+ versions of the same loco that are from different routes. And some routes have multiple timetables and takes time to figure out which one, my system shows 2x identical Class377 timetables for example. Shame they don't list which route that version of the loco is from so you know to only select the new version. But I don't want to lose layers which I forgot about if I uninstall older routes therefore I will try your approach instead.
They do list which route the loco is layering from. Once you've clicked on the route and TT you want if you pick a train you'll see on the right the variants, if any, you can choose and their "home" route unless they're standalone dlcs.
I wish you didn't have to have old routes installed for layers, also. Especially some of the old German ones. At least have the option to hide them in the menu.
I fully agree. But it also shows that it's time for remasters of some of the older German routes. I think Munich–Augsburg is beyond saving. TSG don't even want to put the BR 420 on it for that very reason. Aschaffenburg–Gemünden needs a complete overhaul, with an extension towards Würzburg and/or Hanau, similar to what they did with SEHS or Long Island Rail Road. It also needs the new Spessart ramp, in my opinion. So perhaps a complete modern-day rebuild would be the best option. Bochum–Duisburg was always far too short and would also need an extension towards Dortmund. That leaves us with Ruhr-Sieg Nord, Rhein-Ruhr Osten and Rapid Transit as candidates for a more conventional remaster. The Ruhr routes would need modern EMUs that DTG seem to refuse to build for some reason. Again, that leaves us with Rapid Transit. The entire S-Bahn network around Leipzig has been reorganised over the past few years. The S2 now only runs from Connewitz to Dessau, with every second train branching off towards Lutherstadt Wittenberg, making the remaining stations towards Markkleeberg-Gaschwitz rather pointless. This is all assuming players would like to see more modern timetables with a remaster. If you want to keep it 2010 style, that would make things more simple.
They could have at least remastered the ancient Rapid Transit 442 when they layered it onto Desden to Leipzig. Some of the early RW trains have better running sounds, plus the lack of suspension.
There might be to be honest I haven't looked. Probably not for the suspension though. I have seen some modders add suspension to certain trains which don't have it. It seems to be beyond the whit of DTG to do so currently.
They should add a filter to quick play, more than the current one (under 30 or 30+ minutes). Ability to select the routes you want to be included in the 'draw', freight or passenger, scenario or timetable etcetera
Older routes that pre tsw4 should be rebuild then remaster like Munich to Augsburg and extend route to Stuttgart also Rebuit Ruhr Sieg Nord and extend to Siegen and merge with Rhein Ruhr Osten extend to Dusseldorf and 3rd route London to Brighton need a remake and extend to Portsmouth
