They could've said Bergen-Main Lines or Bergen and Main Lines. Just like Morristown, we didn't get the Montclair-Bontoon Lines when they separate after Newark Broad St and rejoin at Denville. Yes MSU ends the electric service. So I'm not trusting them on this one either. And if they do add the Main Line, then GOOD...
I think Matt was very clear on the roadmap stream what this DLC is going to cover https://www.youtube.com/live/BD9tUXTWe8Q?si=eI-6YrOAnOB-FxkV&t=6420
Yea only cover that it's only out of Hoboken at the moment..bottom line, why only go on the Bergen Line instead of both of Bergen and Main Lines..and its 30 miles...Just like ECML. Don't know where that's ending for the London King Cross, although there were some screenshots that hinted was not to far from Peterborough...Yea there would be more stuff come probably in March of next year. .They not going to include the Main Line...I know it...And if they do prove me wrong by including the Main Line, then good, they proved me wrong on that part...But nope I have low hopes as usual lol.
Thinking of boycotting this route. Personally, I don't need a second Sherman Hill. It's like WCML_S without Lioness line.
Just so it’s clear, what is potentially missing is a portion of the main line between Secaucus and Ridgewood (16 miles,7 stations). The other half between Ridgewood and Suffern is included. Bergen county line joins the main line in Ridgewood.
Without the mainline being included you’re going to get a lot of random services that start are Ridgewood and End at Waldwick and vise Versa some it’s just somewhat critical to the route. Honestly DTG can take extra time with this route it’s not like America routes release that often anyway so it you’re going to make an America route you might aswell make it a big Bang with good quality
No he wasn't 1st of he never said the word only. He said it would include the Bergen line from Hoboken via Seacaucus to Suffren. If you look at a map the main goes to Ridgewood also via Secaucus to Hoboken. He never said the Mainline branch is off. As I said before they probably don't know if it will be included yet but it is probably in the scope of what they want to do but if they run out of time it won't that will be the part they cut. Just like Reisa to Dresden. And they don't want to tell us until they know after that debacle. Remeber unlike 3rd parties DTG have strict time and financial budgets with their routes. You just seem to be coming into this with glass half empty view. Which I can very well understand reasons why.
They’d have to update the Arrow 3 to work correctly on the 12.5 KV line for NEC. They have the switch available and active to be used, but on 12.5 it doesn’t work properly on the NEC line. I don’t know the actual process for them to switch it (I read somewhere it has to be done at the maintenance shop for the actual switch), but just having the switch toggle mean something/work properly would be a cool touch.
DTG is very clear with what they present for new routes. We have a tendency to read too much into it (or assume things and when they don’t play out how we want, give them backlash). Point being if Main line was included, it would’ve been mentioned on the stream. If it wasn’t mentioned, that means it’s not going to be in. That’s why Matt specifically said Bergen line and it’s the only reference for the route.
Ohh Matt made it clear. It's only the Bergen line..30 miles, but yet Dresden gets the extension with the S-Bahn connection, and the extra branch still there from the previous version, and we can't even have both the Bergen and Main Lines?smfh. What else is new when it comes to US passenger service dlcs lol.
I think it makes sense to delay the DLC and complete both lines to complete route even more as we have other routes that have lines running somewhat parallel or in series withe the main route. Especially since they both go to Suffern and are close to each other.
Delay what? It already not coming this year and most likely the earliest would be February. They did say for the take a ticket section it was the outlook for the next 12 months. You can only delay if there is a set date.
Mixed feelings about this one . On One hand, I'm happy that my proposal would be a real thing... But on the other, I don't understand how the mainline can be excluded from the project, right DTG? Together, would just be 45mi(72km), less than Salzburg-Rosenheim . A solid, farsighted project would be included: the already modeled NJ urban zone (Meadowland/South Kearny and Croxton as "fresh new" area), the Meadowlands branch (MetLife Stadium, given the recent FIFA World Cup) and both variants up to Suffern (also lower Passaic Jn!?). 50mi(80km) total project length! All AI from Morristown, NEC etc. Plus NS/CSX freight services(driveable/AI)! And, as the mastery, the old Mahwak station caboose .
If they have a set date, I think they should delay and re-evaluate the decision of not including the main line. It makes more sense to include the main line as well. Might as well since both lines are planned to end at Suffern. This is going to be a good route regardless but it will be even better and it makes more sense if the main line (7 stations between Secaucus and Ridegwood are included) rather than excluding them entirely
Hmph knowing DTG, they still gon exclude the Main Line lol...BUT maybe they might have a change of heart to add the main line section as well...Didn't the HRR have a split between Essen and what was that endpoint again...They even included the S-Bahn service in the Dresden dlc and all..
Yes the switch has to be done at a maintenance shop. In real life, NJT separates the Arrow 3s that operate the NEC (12.5Kv) from the Hoboken lines (25Kv) they rarely swap train sets between NEC and Hoboken lines to my knowledge.
Does anyone know what the deluxe loco for this route is (like an F40PH-2CAT or a PL42AC). Also I’m not from NYC or NJ, does NJT operate ALP46DP’s on the Bergen county line in diesel model?
this route hasn't not released yet and there's not deluxe loco as it only happens on core routes. as far as ALP46DP's I figured you meant the ALP45, yes, IRL they do operate the diesel only routes
I don't know the actual numbers, but it seems that ALP45s are most common these days, followed by PL42ACs, GP40s and the remaining CATS.
I doubt they are gonna add the PL42ACs since NJT is phasing them out rather rapidly. Unless they plan on having it set a few years earlier than the present.
I posted about the application pipe gauge needles in the Miami - Boca feedback thread, but I figured cross posting here should make sense since it will also apply to the GP40PH-2B.
Considering the effort involved, probably not. It is essentially a branch of a branch - they would have to include the portion of the Pascack Valley Line that splits from the Bergen County Line and then include Meadowlands spur which itself splits from the PVL before Woodridge. Since they will not likely do any portions of the Main Line between Secaucus and Ridgewood or anything past Suffern, I doubt they would add any trackage considered outside the BCL scope either. But that’s just me being pessimistic. In the future maybe they might do it if they did a Pascack Valley Line route extension/remaster of the BCL.
Maybe Dovetail could announce the PL42AC as a loco DLC during the season of reveals, but i doubt it honestly. It would be nice to see a genesis locomotive in the game. Going off of DTGs track record, they might set the route in 2017 like Morristown as Dovetail likes to copy existing sections of a route and port it over and keep it the same year so they don’t have to make any scenery changes. (E.g, Boston Sprinter and Boston Worcester, LIRR Commuter and NEC: Metro-North)
So officially no, but as a mapped out “off the rails” track, I could see it being there. Probably not the station though. It’s like how on the Morristown line, you can get to the lower level of Secaucus Junction even though it’s not actually part of the route (and you have to work a bit to get there).
sounds like an interesting route, i quite liked the alp45 so it’s good to see that get some more track to run on. i really hope there’s some more work done to the nyc skyline, because otherwise this will probably be a pass from me as it’s the highlight of any new york route. the version in stamford and morristown isn’t bad but it could still be much better
I think you might be mixing up a P42 with a PL42AC, which look similar but are different beasts Transit runs the PL42AC built by Alstom https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alstom_PL42AC The P42 is exclusively an Amtrak and VIA Rail unit. Transit did have a handful of P40's, but those ended up in CT Rail service where they're still running today. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GE_Genesis That said, I do agree that either would be pretty cool additions to the game, especially the Genesis series.
No worries at all! A simple enough one to make, especially with the two locomotives designed by the same person lol.
Yup, the P32AC-DM, P42DC and PL42AC look very similar but internally, are very different. If I recall correctly, I read somewhere where the designed of the genesis also designed the shape or body for the PL42AC. Interestingly enough, NJT did have Genesis P40DC for a short period between 2005 and 2013 before going over to CTRail. They used to run on the Atlantic City Service if I am not mistaken I really hope we get the Genesis locomotive for the season of reveals. It is way overdue. It will be cool if Meadowlands is featured especially since the Fifa World Cup that recently happened took place there
Just imagine the F40PH-2CAT from Caltrain Route can rework the entire model from exterior and interior like they did on Florida Tri Rail F40PH-3C and be a new model and livery for the NJT Bergen Line
That would be awesome. I definitely have a feeling this will happen since Metro North west of Hudson line trains utilize Metro North F40PH-3C's and that locomotive runs along this line doing passenger service runs from Hobokek to Port Jervis, via Suffern. Some of them terminate at Suffern and layup in the Suffern yard just north of Suffern or return to Hoboken
Plus with Metro North F40PH-3C and NJT F40PH-2CAT liveries variants and reworked locomotives. Metro North Comet V Cab Car and Trailer livery would make sense and mix them up for different
Two NJT F40PH-2CAT that is left on the roster is the 4119 & 4120 while Metro North F40PH-3C is 4907 through 4914. It will be a great addition to 2 different locomotives and liveries for the route in my opinion
My concern with this is how DTG will script the MU system for the Comets and GP40 because the NYT and Morristown MultiLevels, ALP45 and ALP46 use the same 27 pin MU jumper but use proprietary non-matching signals vs standard AAR MU as used by every other US loco and cab car. I hope DTG won't force the Comets and GP40 to only work with NJT stock. Best of both worlds would be to script them to send/accept both MU standards based on what is coupled.
I really hope the comet V and NJT GP40-2B layer into the New York to Trenton route and the Morristown route
GP40PH-2B would be an absolute layer for the Morristown Line since it runs towards every station towards Dover and Hoboken also yard siding jobs moving rolling stock and stone equipments for MOW. It will also be suitable for NYT for equipment moves with mix consists going towards specific yards and such
Yea hopefully they make it work for both routes but we just have to see the outcome within the next few months when they release screenshots of it
I forgot it appears the roadmap is every 3 months now I believe but maybe I am wrong? Hopefully in the next roadmap or before 2026 ends, we will see work in progress screenshots. Here is to hoping DTG includes both the Main and Bergen lines since they both share trackage up to Suffern albeit splitting off between Secaucus and Glenrock. I remember the Steam workshop route by Minerman146 featured both portions of trackage and there was lots of scenery details
Minerman146 route for TSC was the best thing he ever created that featured all of the lines plus with freight operations and yards siding including with NS Croxtons Yard and Intermodal Yards coming in and out through the HX Draw Bridge. Hopefully if they do feature freight operations on the Bergen Line. It would be a game changer with NS returning to do some work along the line
It's supposedly still every month, heard that it's planned for next Tuesday... although I'd have expected to have seen the schedule be published today, but DTG tends to do things last minute sometimes though
