The different platforms run their own big sales at different times of year. Xbox tends to have one big summer one and a big new year one. Steam does them seasonally, etc.
We didn't used to get any sales on XBox back during the TSW2 days when it was all on Gamepass, and even then they were only a discount of a couple of quid. The number of sales and size of the discounts we get nowadays are the land of milk and honey by comparison. There were some decent discounts on XBox just before TSW7 came out. If they are still going ahead with this massive core update in December I'd imagine we'll get another sale then?
I'd clearly prefer having finally textures which look like a product from the 21st century and the current sale level to be honest.
